Fun fact! This episode is so one sided, and so many people knew that Machamp was going to body Goro before the fight came out, that this fight is often called "Machamp featuring Goro"
Actually I got a few thoughts about machamp vs goro (which by the way is my favorite episode). Firstly I didn't actually know a whole lot about goro so I thought they were going to pull some feet I didn't know about, I still thought to machamp was going to win because I did some research on goro, but I was so afraid of goro winning by a feat that I missed. Secondly the kind of low balled machamp. Machamp is obviously mountain level, but the calculation they did came out to town level. That's still bets goro by a large margin, but it's interesting that they low balded machamp nonetheless. Thirdly I never got the feeling that I got from kora vs Storm, we're going into the episode I knew storm was going to stomp ( like literally everyone else). But yeah goro vs Machamp is by far my favorite episode of all time. Amazing animation, really good analysis (Machamp's being my third favorite in the entire series) and so much needed love for Pokemon. But yeah the animation is just freaking awesome, and four fist death Punch is my second favorite track the entire history of death battle.
I mean he only won because the pokedex and the pokedex is written by the kids on their journey, so I don't trust it
@@franciscoarzapalozapata4610 Well, there is an animated scene where a Machamp holds up a collapsing mountain, and a video game where he punches 1000 times in 2 seconds, and several times in animation and video games do we see Machamp hanging out and fighting each other.
So it’s not completely made up.
@@franciscoarzapalozapata4610 The feats they ended up going with weren't even from the Pokedex. We had the 1000 Punches which was shown in Pokken Tournament, and we had Seismic Toss from the games.

The reason Machamp survived the skull crush is a joke off of Mortal Kombat because with special moves called X-rays/Fatal Blows they survive really nasty and normally fatal hits but because they still have hp they still get up like nothing happened.
Yeah, Mortal Kombat seems to run on the logic of "if you can't see the injury from the outside, you can walk it off"

So fun fact about the burn status effect, it does 1/16th of the inflicted mon’s max hp and halves physical attack except if the Pokémon has guts or uses the move facade which not only bypasses the attack drop, but double the attack like normal. This is a popular strategy in competitive tournaments to purposely burn yourself with an ally’s move or an item called the flame orb on a normal type Pokémon with guts to hit with a facade attack 4.5 times stronger than normal and it’s glorious to successfully pull off.
"I don't know who you are. Cable vs....Booster Gold? No idea who that is. Boost Gold? Not a clue." This is the most perfect thing you could have said because one of the longest running gags with him is that nobody knows who he is.

Fun fact: many people think that basing machamps power on seismic toss is an unfair crutch, but they actually underpowered Machamp. In one of its Pokedex entries, it is stated to be able to punch any for over the horizon (like 2.5-4 miles I think), and the most force needed would be against a wailord (it's basically a giant balloon, and the amount of force needed to launch a giant balloon that far without it stopping is astronomical.)

I've been waiting for this reaction! For multiple reasons, this is my absolute favorite Death Battle to date!
I was not expecting to enjoy this episode as much as I did. I was expecting to be boring but it turned out to be one of my favorites of that season
I wasn’t that big of a Pokémon fan before this episode in terms of the VS. Community so I was worried Machamp would lose. God am I glad I ignored my gut to watch it and enjoy Machamp having fun while fighting a dragon.
Booster gold vs cable is the battle of the time traveling heroes. Cable's backstory is a little complicated to be typed. But Booster Gold is from Gotham City in the future. He was a star college athlete who running into money issues (i believe sick mom) shaved pts off his games...was caught. Kicked off the football team, lost scholarship and in turn....had to leave college. he got a job at the musem as a janitor and met his future friend skeets (a robot thats the tour guide/security). after walking around the exhibit of the superheroes of the 20th (well 21st now) century. He saw the costume of an unknown super hero. so he stole the costume, a ring that give him powers, something as that does as well....and a time machine (also in the exhibit) and took Skeets with him...to travel to dc's present where he fights crime, stops disasters thanks to Skeets' memory bank of newspapers throughout time.
he also tries to be rich and famous while doing so. he has gone toe to toe with superman, and doomsday and survived.
Yeah, it was a sick mom.
This fight is actually really morbid when you think about it.
Goro was just relaxing in his home, polishing his trophies in peace. Than a random Pokémon, a wild animal, just breaks in and beats him to death for no reason.
Ah well, next time… You meet one of MY personal champions.

Crushing his skull? It's an X-ray move. Think of it as feeling like you got your skull crushed but with only half the physical damage.
I think it's worth noting that some comments have stated that a well-trained Machamp could defeat Arceus.
I personally think it's very important to note that this is purely in gameplay. In-canon, a Machamp wouldn't lay a finger on Arceus.
Buddy once the Arceus game or Event comes out I bet you can just use a Machamp to beat up literal God

Legends: Arceus explains this discrepancy. While you can catch other legendaries just fine, at no point has anyone ever "caught" the true Arceus. In any game where you can get Arceus, the one you catch is merely an emanation of its true form, which nobody has ever seen.
Idk in canon, Arceus has also shown itself to be easily manipulated, so the notion that it would somehow be untouchable is ridiculous

Since you brought it up, technically speaking, any Pokemon can beat/fight Gods as well.
For example, the Pokemon Arceus is the literal God of the Pokemon world, and a well trained Machmap could probably take it down by itself quite easily as well.
Unless Arceus is holding the fairy type plate. I would say the same about the Spooky Plate, but machamp has access to dark type moves. And before anyone says it, knock off won't knock a plate/memory off of the pokemon that benefits from those items.

I've always thought that, out of all single type pokemon, fighting are those with the most personality, even since gen one. You have the crackhead primeape, the champ with draids machamp, the hitmon rivals, always debating if fists or kicks are better, the capoeira dreidel hitmontop, the underdog tyrogue (which is arguably more racist than jynx can ever be, but i love it anyway), makuhita the sumo wrestler, etc, etc
Wait how the hell is Tyrogue racist? It's a little fighting lizard guy.
Showing internal shots of characters' bones being shattered and crushed is a common trope in Moryal Kombat, but they dont really mean anything or affect anything, they're just cool imagery.
Given what the Pokedex says about Machamp I knew there was no way Goro could out perform that kind of ridiculous strength
Bea is a gym leader in Pokemon sword and shield (Generation 8) who specializes in using fighting types Machamp being one of her team members
Frankly I think the even more important reference he would have missed is that Giovanni has one, since Gio is the bigbad of the entire series and puts strength above all else
In pokemon Sword and Shield, pokemon can go through a temporary gigantification called Dynamax. There are also a few pokemon which change form when they do this, and for those the transformation is called Gigantamax.
The moves, the style, the personality! That wasn't any Machamp, that was *the* Machamp! 😎

One of my favorite Death Battle Headcanons is that that Machamp exists in a version of the Pokémon universe and it is an unbeatable Machamp with three arms that has been seen traveling into a weird mountain outside the region rumored to have a Dragon living there.
That Mewtwo is a special form exclusive to Pokken Tournament called Shadow Mewtwo
Headbutting a Machamp from above like that is a questionable move. In my mind, those head ridges are solid bone.

Actually, when a Pokemon gets burned, their Attack gets halved. Since Guts doubles Attack when statused, it just balances things out. Then again, this is Death Battle so it could be a little different idk

I might be remembering this incorrectly, but aren't Machoke (the middle stage of Machamp) said to be *literally unstoppable* if you remove their belt?
The Pokedex states that nobody has ever removed a Machoke's belt for fear of what destruction it would cause.
Again, might be remembering wrong, but this is one of the few Pokedex entries that stuck with me from when I was a kid 😂
And Machamp is capable of pushing mountains.. USING A SINGLE ARM, claims to have mastered every single known martial art... this Pokemon line is *insane* 😂

@@roberte.o.speedwagon6043 Except they specifically call out that the pokedex can't be completely trusted and only accepted the 1000 punches feat because it appeared in the fighting game pokken tournament. So that feat had proof to support it.
Machamp is fighting type. Without any held items, the Pokémon god is a Normal Type.
Machamp is super effective against the god of its universe. And don't get me started on the fact that Pokémon god is useless against ghost types, including its own kid.

Probably the Pokémon fight people talk about most right now as wanting isn't focused on a species but on a human, Lusamine. I mean, she uses a Pokémon but...not in the usual way. People want her to fight Ragyo from Kill La Kill.

It’s a great movie deserving of its incredible popularity but I wish they didn’t change the ending from the game considering the game is getting a sequel and the movie is not. Then again the game and movie were very different already.

The Pokémon world runs on cartoon logic. Even a widdle weedle would make short work of Goro. The Pokemon world is filled with a Pokemon called Magcargo. If even one of those Pokemon ever landed on our reality, our whole planet would be incinerated by its presence alone due to the heat it emits, but their world functions just fine. Even their humans can pick up a Magcargo in their arms and survive. Everything in that world, even a blade of grass, is god tiered.

Considering some Pokémon are gods, with the equivalent of Jesus, Satan and *the* God himself being Pokémon you can fight and catch it’s really not that surprising. In fact every Pokémon on the main series game boxes from generation 2 and onwards is a god. Except for perhaps Crystal version since Suicune is more of a servant to a god.
This was before the box legendaries for Gen 9 (or...gen 9 at all) were revealed yet, but none of the gen 8 pokemon are gods. The dogs are "great heroes"
The Machamp seismic toss feat bothers me, any Pokemon that is able to can learn it, and I always viewed the visuals of just chucking them into orbit and back as just visuals to look cool, plus in the anime we see Charizard use it and it's represented as flying around the Earth but he isn't actually doing that in real time, and another time it was a dubbing error where they said "use seismic toss" when what was clearly done was a karate chop, it's just a weird feat that they're over hyping in my eyes
except everything else shows it could very well do that not to mention its one of the chosen few that learn it naturally without tm or breeding
@@SufferingSuccotash I know and I agree with the results it just that any Pokemon can Launch things into orbit by just tossing them even though they may not show the same strength as Machamp
I do definitely question the seismic toss feat, but plenty of other capabilities of machamp's (ie, moving mountains with a hand) absolutely make up for not using that feat.
