- Sprint enduro… A relatively new format of dirt bike racing, that’s ruleset was foreign even-to-me until just recently. But it’s brilliant! not only because an event requires far less land, crew and timing logistics than the traditional ‘rally style’ does, but also for the action it produces! Being short-lap based, the events are much more approachable to riders who might normally stick to cross-country or motocross. And spectators actually get to see their favourite riders come past more than like, three times if they’re lucky… It’s a win, win, win!
And this was exactly what was on Brad Groombridge’s mind going into round two of the 2023 New Zealand Sprint Enduro Series (NZSS) in Cambridge, not ten minutes from Hobbiton! After dominating the first round by almost a minute - He was looking to extend his lead in the championship… But he hadn’t banked on Yamaha New Zealand’s, Tommy Watts being there this time. As another one of the country’s fastest riders, Tommy’d be looking to knock Brad off the top step and establish himself as a very real title threat.
Clearly, we were in for one hell-of-a clash… But nobody could’ve predicted how close it’d come down to the wire!

- Hobbiton is only about ten minutes away from here!
- All Brad'd done to the bike at time of recording was a harder shock spring to get the sag right, and whatever tire/tube setup he prefers... Otherwise it was completely standard
- In the third and final round (only a short series for the inaugural year) Tommy did get the better of him... But with a score of 1, 1, 2 for the year - Brad is now your champion 🎉

Wow!! That last lap was incredible. Scary speeds along the fence lines and into gateways. Brad is such a talent, he could win on any brand of bike. Apparently the 390 has a great motor and is almost stallproof. You should review one. Thanks for the content.

Really good vid - I do love your story telling style. Interesting to see the "sprint" Enduro - I have obviously been watching far too much "hard" Enduro content, which just looks like punishment (even if you are really, really good) - this seems to be far more accessible and far more enjoyable!

Genuine thanks for uploading and letting me see this. It's not that I can't find out the results of motocross events around the world; moreover it's just a symptom of out-of-sight, out-of-mind.
Videos like these are gems I can take time to really appreciate due solely because I have no inherent bias or stake in the outcome. It's stuff like this that made me subscribe in the first place.

I love coming back and watching all of the videos you've done with Brad.. Here in the UK we have races but nothing to this level.. He's a freak of nature man! What an absolute Hero of mine he's become! Game developers need to make a game that's realistic and true to some of these tracks. They done an amazing job with the TT Circuit. So why not this? I just hope one day they do! Keep up the great work Ash! Also can't wait for the 3rd Installment to the EU vs USA series :)

At about 14:18 he cuts to the inside of a marker, were the riders supposed to go to the left of that? Looks like most did even though the right was a shorter distance
I saw the same thing - was wondering why anyone would go left side if the right side was the shorter line
In a few forms of off road racing the outside of the marker is allowed as long as you're only a few feet from it. Usually it only makes sense in wooded sections but there are exceptions.

in the enduro sprints i race in, here in britain, we release everyone on their lap chronologically by their lap times, fastest first So unless you crashed on your last test you shouldnt have any1 slower than you infront of you
That's perfect for a strict sprint format, but this format relied on multiple attempts.
