I work with this exact pilot and honestly pilots are different than officers. Completely different vibe. LtCols and Cols are more professional but Cpts and Lts are complete bro culture

They chat like this to ensure the cockpits are pressurized correctly. So the pilot has 100% concentration. Absolutely incredible. Ive been a chef all my life. I always wanted to be an aviator though.

@@goldenretriever6440 it's one of the most difficult things a pilot could do in terms of things that only include maneuvering the aircraft right next to close formation flight but yeah it does become muscle memory and its difficulty goes down a lot after pilots actually learn it so its not really difficult for an actual pilot
talking also helps the pilots do refueling as well as it reduces pilot-induced oscillation

Funny story, I was at an airshow in London, Ontario, Canada today and there was a USAF KC-10 that showed up and I was talking with the boom operator and I noticed he had a Chic-fil-A patch... sure enough it was him!

Victor Morales Directional lights on the underside of the tanker tell the fighter pilot if he needs to move forward/back/up/down. I imagine the boom operator would communicate thinks like if the tanker is going to turn, etc, but I don't think specific headings or attitude adjustments are needed. The fighter pilot can adjust on the fly and maintain his position on the boom.

The KC 135 tanker, was an is still, today the best bird flying.
I member,as a child watching the birds flying out of Birmingham, going to all points, wherever.
The kc135 is the best design, still flying. Why would any designer put the powerplant in the tale section? Beyond me?
What kind of flight controls are implemented in F-22 and F-35. Pressure-sensitive like in F-16?
Yep.
All the new fighter jets have non centrally placed sticks, and most of them do not deflect, as they are all advanced fly by wire systems with force feedback input.
Aircraft like F-15, or F-14 use a centre stick, as they were mechanical, so they moved the elevator and ailerons directly with the force of their hand, so putting them in the centre was necessary to maintain balance(obviously any deviation on a non fly by wire- think the small planes using lines connected to the yoke that react to every input on the controls by essentially “pulling lines”).
The hornet is an exception unless the older hornets had no fly by wire, but that is a jet that has centre stick, with full deflection.
Im only accustomed to the F-16, or A320-A330 so I can’t say much but hey..
Meanwhile me refueling in DCS: "SHUT UP! I'M CONCENTRATING!!"

Great clip - notice all the cuts though? Lots of classified stuff being discussed they edited out. Right when the F22 pilot said he spent his time "looking up at space, and the ...."they cut the remainder of what he was talking about. About space and the classified stuff we have flying around up there perhaps? Lots of other places they cut as well.
It was decided last minute they weren't ready to let the public know details about Area 52, and the truth about the Moon landing, so they had to edit those parts out. They said the president would announce that stuff later on.
