Not quite, but that was my first thought too. Likely more than 40m crafting (and cleaning), which includes inhaling vapors, handling unsafe/unpractical compounds, color matching issue and the fact that this homemade paint may have even worse longevity than deco/indoor paint, instead of just going to get a can of properly made paint for $2(indoor) or $5(outdoor)...

At least in this application I would avoid using both spray and that black concoction (please don't do it near fire) or by greens that you might consume/use (with spray paint), for nice and safe finish stick to either water based or oil based STAIN followed by few coats of polyurethane (can also be water based), you lungs will thank you for sure.

You pulled a rod from a battery, the kind that has that are zinc-carbon batteries.
Zinc in that form is not something you want to have around you all the time, its not adviseable to paint like this.
Instead make a staining solution out of vinegar and steel woll.

It's manganese dioxide from a carbon zinc battery. They don't just contain carbon and zinc.

@InventorJ88 that was not a compliment... if you spray properly, then you can get a quick, even coverage without playing with the gasoline, the styrofoam fumes, or the hazardous parts of a battery... the real trick is learning to use things the right way and not create solutions for non-existent problems.

I'd rather breathe in spray paint than the fumes that were produced in this video... this is dumb, and worse, most people are too dumb to do this with proper safety equipment... just buy real paint and use it the right way
