I thought it looked like a typical Chevy that is just a few launches away from leaving the front suspension parts on the pavement.

For some reason, aftermarket vehicle builders always lie about power levels.
Hennessy was notorious for pushing out slow vehicles with less power than advertised
Yeah, the Raptor and the Chevy were basically even if you take the jump on the line into account. The Chevy also seemed to handle not very good, the suspension seems pretty poorly dialed in.
I've noticed that too. I'm sure they're trying to make their products seem as badass as possible but then again, these trucks have long drive trains, plus sending the power through the transmission, transfer case, front/rear diff and then through 35" & 37" tires. So they probably are losing quite a bit of power from the crank horsepower rating to the wheel rating.
Seems like Lingenfelter always delivers.
Another example of salesmen telling fairytales. Funny how there always seems to be a Whipple supercharger involved with bloated power #'s.

Imagine if Ram brought back a srt10 successor. A new 2021 ram 1500 crew cab, lowered 2 inches, light 20” wheels with sticky tires, hellcat motor! That thing would beat the TRX in a drag.

650 at the crank not the wheels. The 37” tires kill it too.
Take these trucks off road and you will see a different story. I can't believe they drag race these trucks....it's not what they are designed to do.

I'm a RAM guy and I love the TRX but sometimes I feel like these dudes just don't know how to race
Roman is particularly bad his reaction time is almost always atrocious. If its a drivers race I always expect him to lose. He usually only wins if he's in a much more powerful vehicle than whoever he's racing. They need switch out drivers after every race. Nathan and Andre are much better than Roman.
That's been obvious throughout the series. The owners of the vehicles aren't the drivers. The results would have been different otherwise, especially if the 2wd vehicles could've used a tire that was rated for use below 50F

It's better in these videos that he has a not perfect launch reaction. It's realistic. It's how 90% of the people with enough money to buy these would launch it lol. 99.9% of drivers on the road aren't pro drivers that will or can launch a car perfectly, every single time.
If they wanted to be completely accurate...they'd hire pro drivers to do these races. But it isn't about that.
It's about normal guys, doing 0-60 races, 1/4 mile races. NOT pro drivers.
@@_E_B_ Exactly, which only reinforces my belief that they should switch out drivers more often in races. Sometimes they, do but sometimes they don't, I feel like it better shows the vehicles capabilities if it gets tested by each person participating in the race.

That "650 HP" Paxpower Raptor couldn't convincingly beat the 450 HP Ford. I don't think it has 650 HP. And it was wobbling back and forth on the drag strip during the runs. I bet it couldn't beat a stock Chevy with the naturally aspirated 6.2.
Yeah that Jackal is a joke lol it barely beat the Raptor after getting the jump so I’m with you in not believing the claimed power.

@@Turndog375 One it’s on 37”s where as the TRX is on 35’s so that’s essentially a taller gear, two that side to side wobble from the 37’s is not allowing it to put down the power, third the trx was built as a raptor beater and as a package with a 3:55 rear end where as the jackel was pieced together by pax and is geared as a regular highway work truck that comes with one of two final drive ratios of 3:42 or the higher geared 3:23😳which is not something you wanna drag race in even with 650bhp. So it may well have the claimed power but with trying to spin the big tires and a higher gear and soft suspension it’s gonna loose to the trx even if it had the same 702bhp that the ram has everytime! 🤷🏽♂️
@@dennissmith7214 Those are all great excuses, but it’s still slow as molasses and costs just as much or more than the other two trucks. Paxpower could’ve easily regeared for the tires like you’re supposed to, especially for the price they charge, but if they didn’t they are overcharging for a slow truck with a terrible interior. Interior obviously isn’t on them but still. Doesn’t seem like a good option comparatively any way you cut it.
It probably has the power it states. The problem is the suspension and gearing. I don't care if they put 1,000 hp in it, if the gears are wrong and the suspension is spongy then you lose speed.
I'm a chevy guy but that TRX really showed its stuff. "Only" about 50hp more but really cleaned up. Also impressed with the rapter. Fairly close run against the chev with considerably less hp. All in all, all solid trucks, but that TRX!!
The difference on the same dyno must be a lot more than 50 HP for the TRX to do this with what it weighs.
Seems to me like the small speed shops don't live up to their claims.

Next race you should put the TRX up against a 2020 Roush F-150 Nitemare Crew Cab 4x4/AWD mode. That would make a good supercharger vs supercharger truck race for dealer delivery type super trucks.
They would, if they could afford it. The truck your proposing to race the TRX with costs 40k more than a TRX, and is still not a guaranteed win. Fords prices are out of whack, I’d buy a supercharged Ram, before paying more for a ford that can’t win! 😆

Im a Chevy guy and that Jakal was all over the place not really a production vehicle but a nice build that Raptor needs a v8 but that TRX is pretty badass I like them all great video next time make a video what these trucks can do offorad.

Right! Not even a real truck! Like the diesel tundras! Can't tow thier own ass let alone a load, who gets a diesel that doesn't have the suspension to tow what the cummins under the hood can pull?
@@erik120719 Cummins Tundras? That is news to me. But the regular gas ones only tow 10k pounds which is second worst in class only above the Nissan Titan but Nissan at least has the XD if you want a little more towing capability and capacity without being a 3/4 ton. And Toyota doesn't even offer an HD line up or engine options. Just that old 13 MPG 5.7l V8 with 381 horsepower. Meanwhile, the TRX has 702 and gets 13 MPG.

Not to mention the shuddering of the front wheel at 6:55. My guess is those tie rods won’t last long. Just about buckled here.
@@grumpyengg5978 GM has been using really thin and weak tie rods for many years. Go to any offroad park, or even truck pulls and you'll see chevys with snapped tie rods on the regular.

Typical General Motors. They are notorious for weak suspension and steering parts, especially the tie rods on their ifs pickup trucks

There are TRX and Raptor off-road videos out there. Ford's claim is the Raptor is strictly for Baja, not "off-road" rock climbing

Hey TFL, for those trucks that you can switch between 4wd and 2wd. Start off in 4wd for traction then flip to 2wd 60ft+ out for better runs??!!

As a 20+ year GM employee it always made me angry that GM won't build a fast truck!!!!!! Ford has had the lightning and now the Raptor, Dodge had the srt-10 and now this monster!!! I've written many emails to corporate and shared concerns/ideas, but it's like they couldn't care less. They will just come out with some sticker kit and a quirky new name(rallye edition,midnight edition,mossy oak,etc). I doubt anyone from GM will see this,but PLEASE put the LT4 in the Silverado/Sierra!!!!!!!!! Excitement gets people into dealership. Look how the Chrysler/Dodge/Ram lineup has grown in the last 5 years. When they first came out with the hellcats they were sold out for a year and even stopped taking orders for them. That seems like a pretty good business model. While not everyone wants a 700hp gas engine in their car or truck, it appears that many people do! The TRX launch edition sold out in 2 hours!!!!!!
The last time they made a fast truck it was faster than the Corvette, never again.

Leave the traction control on in 2wheel. I raced my friends TRX dead stop, I spooled my turbo up and it was a big difference versus just a small rev before take off

After watching this series I've concluded one thing, neither of you guys are decent at driving.
You know what’s funny. We’ve been doing this for over 10 years and no matter the driver we get this comment. Even Paul, the former Stig, who does our performance car reviews gets this comment. At this point we’ve pretty much concluded that this comment is more of a reflection on you than on us😉

Why GM won’t give us a production supercharged truck is beyond me
Because many of their consumers haven’t asked for one like the ones over at FCA. If more people wanted a super truck like Chevy, they would definitely build one.
@@lonewhitewolf8232 but GM should see that the raptor and TRX are hot there’s no reason why people wouldn’t buy a Chevy or GMC version of it.
I wouldn't hold your breath with GM getting ready to nix all their gas powered engines. It will take a while before a reliable electric vehicle can take on something like the TRX or the Raptor. To heavy and after a couple of races, better have a charging station available to get home. Ford will be the most likely tk have a high performance truck out given their hybrid and electric systems seem to be light years ahead of where GM is right now. Stalantis won't be far behind with Ferrari's experience with pure electric and hybrid high performace super cars. GM is being left behind right now in several areas. Hope their publicity stunt of going all electric works out or they will be government subsidized again.

Chevy and GM is your Grandpas ultra conservative manufacturer. Extreme work and play not really what they ate about
All I can say is Dodge is the master at Drag Racing. They always have dominated in they always will
i suggest you check out the hellcat vs tesla drag races you'll be quite disappointed
@@mountaineerbear3122 Tesla is faster but less exciting in my view. Plus race them further than a 1/4 mile and they loose their advantage. They are pretty cool but nothing can replace the internal combustion thrill and feel.

That TRX is unreal. Two races I’d love to see is TRX vs SRT10 and TRX vs the upcoming Hummer
The TRX would waste the STR-10. When new on their best days ''at sea level'' the SRT-10's would run 0-60 in about 5 seconds, the TRX at sea level does the same measure a second faster. It wouldn't even be a race really, I'd be willing to bet even the 450hp Raptor would hang with or pull on an SRT-10. I don't think any of them could beat the new Hummer though as it allegedly is going to have 1000hp electric motors, that thing is going to be stupid fast when it comes out.

Ford had the Boss 6.2 in the first Raptor ! And traded it for a v6 ecoboost .....downright STUPID !!!
I agree. Ford needs to get off this V6 obsession. Hope they do put a supercharged Voodo 5.2 in the next raptor. They could really step it up and supercharge the 7.3 Godzilla
then Ram TRX from 800 HP to HENNESSEY PERFORMANCE 1400 HP KING FOREVER.
