  • Trek Shorts is proud to present Marcus Churchills next film! and our fourth in universe documentary!
Ensign Sam Harriman is being interviewed by Memory Alphas best reporter Katherine Archer about the events that lead up to the loss of the Enterprise D. This was a shock to us all and maybe through hearing Ensign Harriman's lower deck perspective can a better understanding be reached .
The Enterprise D was a bastion of hope and symbol of the Federation. Its loss has shaken Starfleet and while the official reports are known, Sam Harriman was in engineering and saw the events in a unique way. He was there at Amagosa, he repaired damage from the Duras sisters and helped the saucer separation be a success despite the battle. Ensign Harriman was there from the start and now, with the Next Enterprise on the horizon Memory Alpha wants to focus on these events.
Thank you to everyone who supported the 2021 & 2022 Trek Shorts Indiegogo, without your funding we would not have been able to get this fan and we hope you will come back and support the 2023 Trek Shorts Indiegogo which will begin in the middle of the year!

Hello Samuel, huge congratulations! This is one of the best fan films ever!
I'd like to offer some detailed feedback for you. I am so happy and proud to have been a supporter and promoter of your work over many years.
    Production:
Marcus is an amazing actor. Natural, believable, emotive, talented. Excellent.
Rhea's narration was perfection. She should be the new voice of Trek.
Cheers for jumping RIGHT into the story. Fanfilms with 5 minutes of opening credits are cringe.
You have somehow cracked the code of how to make a person look like they are physically in a green screen environment. Well done mate.
This will change the future of fan films (and TV shows, and feature films) forever.
Did you include false "film artifacts" in the rendering? I seemed to have seen a couple for a frame or two.
    Space Special Effects:
Samuel my friend, you have cracked the "uncanny valley" code I think.
I am an ardent physical model fan. But you have evolved your skills to the point that now, I could almost never tell the difference, and I have a keen eye.
You did an excellent job at keeping the animation of "glows' to a minimum, which adds so much to the realism.
So many , including some official Trek productions blow these glows out so much that it looks animated and cartoonish. Great job finding the balance here!
The flybys were so realistic that while I knew they weren't lifted from the films, they were at least the same quality and mostly higher.
They could easily be edited into Generations, as an improvement!
    Just a couple of nitpicks:
There was an audio glitch at 2:48, I'm sure you're aware.
There was the one shot of the Enterprise that seemed at a lower Frame Rate, not critical, and most people probably wouldn't notice.
Please consider using the standard widescreen TV ratio, there were no scenes where the artificial "cinema scope" format would have lost any visual content, and allowed us a slightly larger picture to enjoy your hard work.
All in all, one of the best I have seen ever.
Every fan of Star Trek should watch this, and I will be sharing on my social media!
THANK YOU Samuel, for your devotion to Star Trek, not only as a fan of it, but someone who wants to do it, and DOES do it right.
    Cheers mate!

I know this was all a acted performance and maybe today was one of those days where old memories have gathered close, still wanting to be heard. This presentation made me recall the many times of being both "in the Chair" and "at the table" as part of a committee conducting the proceedings. This performance placed me right back into those feelings. Even knowing the outcome of the events he was describing I felt myself go through the tension and relief associated with such emotional events. Plus I felt a actual sense of respect for a individual who put duty above fear and others before self.
Outstanding idea to relive and strengthen the depth of a known story by telling it from a "everyman" point of view. The inclusion of historical figures and past events was well thought out and helped illustrate how the average crew member viewed those people who became legends in Star Fleet. It also gave a insight as to how a crew member views themselves within the scope of the ships and commanders heroic actions.
This production was excellent. The manner in which the story was presented with well selected visuals that help place what part of the story was being told, it all flowed from past events to present in a concise and informative manner. The narrator deserves credit for establishing a pace of narration and tone that gives it that authentic video documentation style. The actor was outstanding! Whether he knows it or not his body language and vocal inflections was spot on for how service members conduct themselves during debriefings and formal proceedings after they have been through a traumatic event.
From a disabled veteran who was a career NCO, thank you for presenting the true meaning of Star Trek. That if individuals rise as one and put the needs of the many before the one, then there is hope for a better future.

Wow i really love this i could not take my eyes away from the screen as i was sent in a bubble full of great special effects wonderful acting and i really believed and felt the emotions when Ensign Sam Harriman was describing all the situations and thats what kept me gripped and encapsulated into this story where i forgot that i was watching this in a Prets in central London with lots of people around me. Such an amazing project and you should all be so proud of yourselves, this in my opinion should be picked up by Paramount.

This was phenomenal! I literally went back and watched Generations just so I could get the true feel and I gotta tell ya. Generations still isn’t great but this DEFINITELY makes it better. The explanations to a bunch of “wtf that makes no sense” moments were actually pretty damn good. And that included the first and ONLY phaser beam we saw😂😂STILL that phaser beam should’ve nearly crippled a Duras led D-12 bird of prey. But that very simple they knew right where to hit us moment that should’ve been told in the movie was great as well as well. And the final shot of the E 😮‍💨 by far the sexiest ship to bear the name Enterprise! Well in my personal opinion at least😂

It fixes a few of the gaps and answers the questions that many of us have had since we witnessed the scene in the movie. Thank you for your incredible vision and bless your skill to make this a very believable documentary.

Thank you, Commander, for another fine film.
I've seen you ask a few times in the comments, so here goes, I do have a few very minor nitpicks
The shot of the NCC-1701-B's saucer at about 4:08 had somewhat pixelated text, I'm guessing it was a model designed to be viewed from further out, and it would have been a lot of work to retexture it for a few seconds on screen.
You missed a great opportunity to explain why they did not even bother trying to eject the core, perhaps a joke about the core ejection system never having worked, and being something even Geordi could not fix, or "Geordi split us into several teams each spent a few days thoroughly testing the E's core ejection systems to make sure they are more reliable than on the D".
As for what looked especially good,
The flypast of the NCC-1701-E at about 21:30, where you could actually see rooms in many of the windows, that must have been a fair bit of work, a small detail but that it was there and moved perfectly as the camera did, and it seemed like it was every lit up window really made the shot more beautiful and convincing.
p.s. perhaps it's time to ask the Captain's recommendation for a promotion, surely you must have earned your own command by now.

Wow. This was a classy confirmation of the Enterprise legacy. How this was framed and Harriman's totally reasonable responses across the mission are well-written. Cgi to any film (I'm assuming some of that was the film?) elements felt seamless to me. Seeing Enterprise attempt to break orbit fit right in. Harriman's post Veridian experiences aboard Farragut and got forward were, again, reasonable responses to the situations.

    • @matmilne

Great film! Loved the comments about hopefully not facing the Borg towards the end, considering how we first see the Enterprise E.
Also loved the Excelsior class Enterprise B shots - my favourite design.
Also learned from reading the comments that the old uniforms where worn for a year before the crew adopts the movie uniforms.
Hope it isn't too annoying when new shows e.g. Picard contradict things, e.g. the saucer being in the museum. 😀

Hi David, what makes you say that? I believe it was said that no one knew what happened to the Enterprise B and so he was "missing" I think that was in a novel.
As far as i know he was never mentioned again in Trek so we dont know if he was alive or dead, i took it as he died in a heroic way between the B and C.

    • @davidponseigo8811

I believe it was in a couple of the novels that he was still living at the time but unfortunately that's not canon so maybe it's wishful thinking on my part. I think in beta canon he became a Admiral.
