Its not used as a home, as you would have to take your remodeling skills to the next level in order to make it a home. Not once was it ever used as a house therefore i don't know what they were thinking.

The metal houses are abandoned war posts, they were used to spot incoming planes. The soldiers living there had terrible living conditions and most of them died from starvation. They can't be used or bought anymore since it is impossible to survive here
