- I CRASHED into the monitor!!! Montana Farming 2022
In today's video, I made a big mistake and crashed my truck mirror into the grain elevator monitor system! Yikes, Dad had to help me get out of that situation. I also am trying to learn to center the truck over the grain pit in the elevator and I am having a bit of trouble with that!!!! I also forgot to pick up the receipt for our grain and it blew away into a field. Today was challenging. It's a learning process and Dad is pretty patient and says everyone makes mistakes! I will try to improve next time!! I hope you like my video! Thank you for watching!!!

My Story…
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens, and I am a 17-year-old 4th generation Montana farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north-central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was two years old. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm, and I hope that my Farm to Fashion and Farm to Table products can help educate people about where their food comes from in a fun way. That is how Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion became a reality. I hope you love my products as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.
Good on you Kate for posting the hard stuff. Nothing but respect for you trying and learning.
Thank you for your great comment and kindness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your doing great 90% of your problems is seating position you to far away from the peddles you have to struggle to push
once you get that figured out you will have a much easier time keep up the great work Kate
Thank you for your great suggestion and kindness!!!!
You are in the process of building an amazing skill set. I was reminded of my daughter at 17 many years ago interviewing for admission to the college of her dreams. They asked her "what are three things that make you unique compared to our other applicants." Her answer was " I can drive a tractor, back a horse trailer, and use a chain saw." She got in, early selection.
hahahaha!!! Thank you for your fantastic story and kindness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kate when I took my first load to town by myself, I was 12. I raised the box too fast, and the front wheels came off the ground. Boy, was I scared but what a good memory. Kept my cool like a rock star.
Oh that would be very scary!!! hahahaha!!!! Thank you for your great story!!!
Kate, when my Dad took me out he had me looking out my mirrors and see where I thought my driver's side tires were and where they actually are. Also he had me try and line up the hood ornament to the white line and look at my passenger side tires in the mirror. Great video Kate, and 100mph wind must be crazy!!!! Stay safe and I hope you have a blessed Sunday.
Thank you for your wonderful story and kindness and blessing!!!!!
You did great Kate. Your dad is teaching you very well even though he gets very stressed out. You’re an all rounder. 😊👍
LOL!! Thank you for your kindness!!!
😊
@@KatesAg You’re very welcome Kate. 😊
I love how your dad makes you do everything on your own even when men are standing around watching you. One day you will be in a field or lonely highway by yourself without a cell phone signal.
LOL! Thank you for your great comment!!!!
@@KatesAg heeeelllĺlllloooooooooo
Wonder woman you're getting better day by day 👍
Kate, you are incredible, I admire your honesty and bravery. Well done dad for keeping it cool 😅 Thanks for sharing
Thank you for your wonderful kindness!
The Dad and Kate routine is very charming. Dad giving instructions without getting mad, Kate listening and trying to follow. Then she breaks into her narrator voice when speaking to camera, just charming. She is a damn good narrator by the way. And Dad and Kate are clearly fond of each other and respectful. One day Kate will run the farm.
Thank you for your wonderful kindness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How do you have time to do all this farm stuff and still go to school
@@alanjacobson6673 school doesn't start until late August. Wheat harvest is usually early August. It's like that North Dakota too. It summer break is set up so that the kids can help on the farm they can have time off to help with the planting and harvest. Usually school lets out in May. And starts somewhere around Labor Day. It's like that all around the Western Midwest in the heart of farm country.
I can only imagine how tough that was!
Learning from my dad yelling yet not yelling.
Learned more from my cousin…no attitude or frustration.
You did great.
You didn’t roll your eyes once. 😂
LOL! Thank you for your great comment!
yup. big difference the training style can make.
Your expression in the thumbnail is priceless!
Edit: I just noticed your dad's jacket. That must be his favorite seeing how it's nearly shredded.
LOL! Thank you for your kindness and yes that is his favorite jacket!!!!!
@@KatesAg Thanks Kate. Have a nice night. :)
Looks very stressful to learn. However very rewarding to master. I give you so much credit for your determination Kate!
Thank you for your kind words and great comment!
Set some barrels or highway cones up in the grain bin lot and start making big circles with the trunk where you have to drive through the barrels. As you improve lining up the truck to the opening of the barrels, start moving them closer together till there is little more than the truck is wide. This will simulate what you are dealing with at the elevator, and you can do it as many times as you need to get good at it. No mirrors will be hurt in doing this practice. Love your videos and I am rooting for your success.
Thank you for your great suggestion and kindness!!!
Hey Kate
Thanks for sharing and relax a bit more when driving into those area's, I think it's the clutch that gets you mostly to cause the worry. Take care, many thanks
Thank you for your wonderful comment and kind words!
@@KatesAg
Hi Kate
I was wondering if there was a spring broke on the semi clutch that assists the driver, because watching it looks very heavy. Just a thought. Many thanks
Your doing great kate, most grown men these days cant drive a manual car let alone a semi.. you're a ray of sunshine and dad has the patience of a saint.. keep up the good work!
Thank you for your wonderful kindness!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kate, I really admire your father's patience with you! Lol

Another great episode with Kate's ag . Farmers never get a day off. Lot of work. Kate makes work enjoying. Kate take a day off. Thank you for an on going education.
Thank you for your kind words and great comment!!!
I like that you include all your novice actions in your videos. Honest content. BTW your dad could use a new carhart jacket. 😉
Thank you for your kind words!!! Yes, for some reason Dad loves that Carhart!! LOL
Well done Kate for trying and sticking with the truck driving, you will get there, take care
Thank you for your great encouragement!
I swear you have more guts, patience, willingness to learn than half the 40-year-olds I work with. Thanks for your courage to share this adventure with me. Stay strong.
LOL Thank you for your amazing kindness and great encouragement!!! You made my day!!!
Learn from mistakes. I love how he handled the mistake, great job keeping on going even with the minor mistake.
Thank you for your kind words!!!
Greetings from Dawson County, Montana. Hey Kate, The only way to not make a mistake is to never do anything. Mistakes are a part of life. Learn from your mistakes and you'll be fine. I admire your willingness to learn new things. Thanks for sharing your video with all of us. Take care and be safe.
Thank you for your kind words!!!!
Kate , you are doing a great job. Each time you go out with dad you’ll learn more. There is a lot of things going on at the same time. Trying to drive, clutch, shift, PTO, etc. try not to get flustered. The more you drive the better you will be. Dad is teaching you after many years of driving.😂
Thank you for your kind words! LOL
Your Dad cracks me up sometimes 😁
LOL Thank you I agree!!!!!
LOL been driving for 38 years and still say that didn’t go as planned!!! You are doing great for your first few times it will come to you 😀
Thank you for your kindness!!!! LOL
Hey Kate. From my family in Texas, we are so proud of you !!! Your father is such a great teacher for you. Please appreciate his guidance. We love all of you. God Bless.
Hello to your family from Montana!!! Thank you for your kindness and blessing!!!!!!!!
"We Made it Home Safely" the best quote of the Video.
Well done I must admit I found it kind of comical your whole ordeal, but you did a good job, not many young ladies have your desire or patience for these type of Agricultural Necessities.
hahahahaha!!! Thank you for your wonderful and hilarious comment and kindness!!!!
Dad to the rescue! I can imagine that truck is hard to drive. Its haggis farming season in Scotland now 😁
Thank you for your great comment! I would love to see farms in Scotland.
@@KatesAg It's a very different look to Montana! Also haggis is not a wild animal or something that grows. I was playing a joke 😆
No one’s perfect , and every day is a learning day.. I think you did a GREAT JOB 👏
Thank you for your kindness!!!!!!!!!!!
Kate has way more patience than I would.
LOL!! Thank you!
Hey Kate I've been driving truck for 30 years and I have hit a couple of things along the way. It's part of learning.....you will be fine. Love your videos and thank you for sharing your life journeys with America 🇺🇸!!!
Thank you for your wonderful story and amazing kindness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hang in there we are pulling for you. Keep up the hard work.
Thank you for your kind words and great encouragement!!
Kate, this reminds me of when I learned to drive truck with my dad and brothers. Hang in there; it gets easier! Audra
Hi Audra!!!! LOL! Thank you for your wonderful kindness and great encouragement!!!
Kate your father has a lot of patients and your a good listener to learn ever thing on farming!
Thank you for your kindness!!!!
My daughter and I laughed a lot. My daughter was very sympathetic, because she said she felt just like you looked and she would have probably done the same things. My daughter likes it when you post videos with mistakes, because it seems more realistic than people who hide their mistakes. Your dad reminds my daughter of me. That's funny.
LOL!!! Thank you for your wonderful comment and kind words!!! My mom laughed a lot too!!!!
Kate another good video. Things will happen but as you learn more it'll become second nature and you'll get even better on the truck or anything you driving, steering, or flying. I'm proud of your willingness to learn from your dad, he's a great teacher. I know he may not show it all the time cos he worries about you but he's also proud of you. Love you, keep learning 😊
Thank you for your wonderful kindness!!!
I just have to smile when I watch your videos, keep up the good work, listen to your Dad!!
Thank you for your kind words!!!!
Very impressive Kate! The fact that you can drive that rig down the road is a major accomplishment...John w.s
Thank you for your wonderful kindness!
Lovely how this girl is so confident . Father is so nice to her.

Well deserved 💜
You'll be throwing that handle an the truck around like a pro with the way you are taking so much interest in what you do. Even the best pro drivers have hit something at one stage. Don worry bout it, cos if you do you'll get despondent. Thanks Kate. The Ole Fan from Downunda.
Thank you for your kindness and great encouragement!
Kate, your a winner, I`ve watched you all last season and dont know anyone who could have learned so much and did as good as you.
Thank you for your wonderful kindness!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Kate you and your family are helping the country go and Montana does it BEST!
Thank you for your kind words!
Kate the best way to centre your truck is to use the centre of your hood (where the handgrab is) as a guide for where your offside wheel is. Try it on the highway and get as close to the fogline (edgeline) as possible (looking in mirror to see where you're at, then look at the centre of your hood, it will look like the edgeline is going straight under the centre of your truck hood. It varies for exactly how you sit in the seat etc but it's a good guide and will get you through tight spots.
Thank you for your wonderful advice!!!!!!
Good Saturday evening to you all in the USA from Wellington Somerset in the UK
Thank you so much!!!!
kate, do not get discouraged, dad is only trying to help you , we all make mistakes in life but the trick is to learn from them good luck
Thank you for your kindness!!!! Oh yes I make a lot of mistakes and that really is how I learn!!!!!
Haha Kate, "that didn't go as planned" is a little bit of an understatement! Well done though, you take it all in your stride and you're doing great.
hahahaha!!! Thank you for your great comment and kindness!!!!!!!
Hey Kate, it's so good to hear your Dad go over things with you. And if you get in a situation, he helps without yelling at you. Just so neat to see someone who likes doing this . Thanks for sharing 👍.

I just love Kate's patience. Great video. Thanks for the upload!!

The joys of unrolling the tarp !!!! I think ya did great! Your dad was WAYYY more calmer than how my first semi driving lesson went 😂
Hi Kayla!!! I love your new channel!!! Very inspirational!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for your hilarious comment and kindness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your father does a real nice job teaching yet how to drive semi trucks because it is not the easiest thing to do after all I drove for 46 years and I'm still learning today even though I'm retired
Thank you for your great story and amazing kindness Mr. Jacobson!!!! Driving trucks is a huge learning curve and I am grateful for all the truckers who move everything around our country. Thank you for being a truck driver!!!!!
You are doing great job young lady keep up the good work

Kate, you handled it like a pro. Don't get flustered, we learn as we go. 😎😎😎👍👍👍.
Thank you for your kindness!!!!!!!
Good work Kate, Dad's still being the hardest of taskmasters but you handle it well and don't let it rattle you... well on camera anyway lol 😆
LOL!! Thank you for your great comment and kindness1
This looks to be your biggest challenge yet Kate that I can tell. Try to take in everything your dad is teaching you. Remember no one comes knowing, we all learn something new everyday. Soon you will have it. Practice Practice Practice.
Thank you for your wonderful kindness and great encouragement!!!!
Just a little mistake Kate, remember you are not a full-time truck driver and you are still learning.
Thank you for your great comment and kindness!!!!!!!
Much respect! I was born a city boy but at 18 I went to visit my cousins on their 32K acre cattle ranch one summer and ended up staying and living with them for 2 years. I loved it. I did just about everything they did and learned a lot enough that it let them go on vacations and keep their marriage going while I took care of the farm. I ran combine, baled hay, ran the hay stack retriever, pulled calves, did round up, tagged and branded. Much like you I was also yelled at a few times for messing up but it was good for me in the end. I'm now a IT professional living in town but more rural and someday hope to start my own hobby farm.
Thank you for your wonderful story and kindness!!!!
@Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion You are very welcome! I am happy to see new generations getting into agriculture and animal husbandry. That was one thing me and my cousins talked about a lot. Their extended family had no real interest in the ranch and land other than to sell it off. I will always have the utmost respect for anyone do the work you do. And it's amazing that you share it with us even the hard parts. That shines very highly of your character!
You’re fearless Kate! I love how you’re not afraid to try new things. Every time I see you and your dad in the truck I know we’re in for a good time 😉 Keep being awesome!
LOL!! Thank you for your wonderful comment and kindness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your kind words and great comment!!! I will tell my Dad.
Awesome job Kate. I love how you leave the mistakes in your videos, that will help other young farmers learn and not feel bad about their mistakes. Your dad is an amazing mentor for you. Keep up the great videos
Thank you for our wonderful comment and kindness!!!!!!!!
Kate, I just love you're facial expressions when you're driving !! Stay safe ! XX
LOL!! Thank you for your great comment and kind words!!!!
I hate to tell you this Kate...but...it sucks when you're on the uphill side of the learning curve. but eventually, as you learn more, the curve does flatten out. everybody who drives has been there. and you are definitely getting better; your dad is letting you do more complex maneuvers (if he didn't think you couldn't do it, he wouldn't let you try). keep up the good work!
Thank you for your great comment and kindness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kate, thumbs up to you. I know learning new jobs like driving the trucks is nerve wracking, but we were all newbies once, stick with it, it will soon be 2nd nature. It's a lot more to it than most people realize, you'll get there. Easy to see you have have that won't give up spirit. Love the videos, keep um coming.
Thank you for your wonderful kindness and great encouragement!
Kate a suggestion for you.
Have your Dad unbolt drill some new holes you
Need to get that driver's seat moved forward you can't reach the peddles without struggling.
When I drive my steering wheel is about 2" from my tummy.
You gotta have full
Controll at all times.
Same goes for the
Semi.
Tim. Fargo N.D
Thank you for your wonderful suggestion! I will let Dad know!!
You have a very mature/outstanding way of handling mistakes and criticism. That's a very valuable character trade for growth and learning
Thank you for your huge compliment and amazing kindness!!!!
Kate you are such an inspiration to other young farmers learning the trade congrats in everything you do in the farming world
Thank you for your wonderful kindness and great encouragement!!!!!
there are 2 ways to help correct you. one is his way of raising voice and the other is cool, calm and understanding. you would learn 10 times faster under the 2nd. kate, this is the truth. i did it !

Great job Kate. It takes some time to get big rigs figured out. I was scared to death driving loaded down fairly steep grades the first season. Your Dad is right about trailers, I clipped a power pole once and broke it not swinging wide enough for the trailer. 😬Hang in there!

As an ex trucker , you're doing great Kate...tell the old man to take a chill pill...LOL. But he does have a big responsibility in teaching you the ropes. You are basically driving a manual truck with auto shift , so if you don't drive a stick shift car , then it is a bit difficult to get used to. Also a lot of people would have a melt down with someone barking orders at them all the time, so hats off to you young lady, and for not editing your mishaps out of the video!
A class act as usual Kate 🙂
Cheers , Gregg.

You’re doing perfect just listen to him it will take time Don’t be afraid

🇺🇸 An easy way to get used to lining up a vehicle you've never run or don't run much can be done on a highway with painted lines! As your going down the highway keep checking your mirrors to keep yourself exactly centered and just pay attention to where you are looking forward. Use something on the hood, fender or etc., with enough practice it'll become 2nd nature. Hope it helps 🙏 God bless and good luck you got this 👍
Thank you for your wonderful advice and kindness and blessing!!!!!!
Hahaha You're so awesome Kate. Every mistake that gets made you just take it in stride and come back stronger. Everything is hard the first few times, you're doing amazing! In 2 or 3 more years this will all be second nature to you. Hang in there, and god bless!

I little tip what my uncle thought me when I learned how to drive trucks is to look about 100 yards infront of you to get the center. Wich helped me a lot as I battled to get it centered I used to look over the hood trying to aim in the center of the hood 🤣🤣🤣
