In today's video, Dad explains what R & R means on our Montana farm! LOL We have to relocate a raccoon before we can go flying in our small airplane.
We take our four-wheeler with us so we can get our plane out of its hanger. Dad and I take off and the winds pick up. We had to circle the runway four times before we could land due to high winds. Luckily the wind went down for a little bit and we landed safely! Thank you for watching!!!

My Story…
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens, and I am a 17-year-old 4th generation Montana farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north-central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was two years old. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm, and I hope that my Farm to Fashion and Farm to Table products can help educate people about where their food comes from in a fun way. That is how Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion became a reality. I hope you love my products as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.
A lot of respect for you young lady. I've noticed that every time someone is trying to teach you something, you get this "serious as a heart attack" look on your face. At your age, you have no idea how rare that is, and I've been mentoring young people for 30 years. As always, I love your Dad's efforts as a teacher, his love comes through for you in these interactions.

It's easy Kate just like doing laundry, wash, spin, rinse, cotton loads, permanent press. Cross winds are terrible, but micro bursts and down drafts are a bitch, and will make you sit up in your seat. Your dad is the BEST!! You can tell that he really cares about your learning equipment. Keep up with the great work Kate.

I always love your flying videos! Your dad is such a competent, complete pilot, with the ability to verbalize every small thing he does, and not only what but more importantly why he is doing it. His attention to safety in every aspect of flight is commendable. The door not being properly shut at first, but thru the checklist being secure in the second shot is one example. Its a lot of information to absorb, but listen closely to your Dad and you will be as safe a pilot as he is! And it does take hours and hours of practice and repetition and experience.

Airplanes have a great place in agriculture. It is wonderful to see your interest in all the tools that are used to keep a farm in production.
I was a central MN dairy farm kid. My interests then were operating the equipment and maintenance of the same, a lot more than the animal husbandry.
My uncle had an airplane and would fly up to our farm a lot. He did it to visit his brother (my dad), but many a time, he would also bring with farm supplies or parts from Minneapolis, where he lived. All I know at the time he was there and I might get a plane ride. My passion turned to aviation. Anyway, I got all my pilots, and A&P licenses bought a Piper plane. I was flying it a lot for parts. At 23, I left the farm to spend a 43-year career in avation, gave my younger brother the plane, which he still uses to keep the farm in operation.

I think I like watching Kate's videos so much because I find it very rare that young ladies today neither enjoy these things, do them nor would do them. This stuff is what I spent my life doing and never met one like her. They all move to the cities and rack up college debt on degrees they don't need or really want. And then they don't want families.. Its all so backwards and Kate's the only one that seems to be on the track she should be on. Don't ever doubt what you're doing with your life little Kate. You're 100% doing things right. 👍 You're a massively important role model in the making.

Nice video Kate. As your flying activity grows, you will find that flying in high wind will be taxing and what you experienced today was kind of moderate. You even have to fly the bird on the ground. Ask your dad or instructor to explain how the controls need to be applied while taxying. High wing planes like your 172 are even more susceptible to wind mishaps. You are a very smart young lady and you will just take this kind of training. I remember flying into a rural airport near Chicago after a tornado where every windsock and the tetrahedron (Ask Dad what it is) were pointing in a different direction. We even had to dodge some debris on the taxiway. Overall I thing you will really like flying, as it is a ton of fun. Remember what I told you, "Head work then Air work" ie: plan ahead.😊

Growing up in Montana I was always amazed by how many farmers had pilots license. It makes sense with how large farms are there and a fast way to check on things while having a little fun. But I can relate with the wind growing up in Cut Bank. My father had a little Cessna and winds at times would get crazy. Great channel!!

@@KatesAg Amen :-) Thanks to our Dearest Lord God - Heavenly Father that He Allowed and Helped you at Safe Landing !!! :-) We also have more winds last few years here in the Eu, but that Global Bad weathers are Not Because of the pollution ( as the Blind and Evil "scientists" are trying 2 convince us ) , But for the Bad weather there Are Only the Bad people Responsible , because with their bad deeds they push away the Good Spirits which Are Responsible for taking care of the Weather . So, this windy + Bad weather is going 2 escalate in the next few years , Because people Are just getting more and more Evil, Until the End with the Mega Collapse. My dad said I can be officially on the internet and get my glider license when I’m 16. I’m practically 14 now, and that’s real grown up in my opinion. 😔 It’s so hard.
We flushed a cow for eggs tonight. That would get a zillion views cuz my dad makes it pretty funny but his arm won’t fit and my moms the 1 who can do it anyways. Nice flying. My dad made us learn a song called you can always go around. I guess we’ll always have that in our brains forever. My dad had a go around in a giant jet cuz it was a crab landing and a tire blew out. He said the whole plane of people all screamed but it wasn’t dangerous but did have 2 go around cuz of bad sliding and the tires were squealing. One time my dad was driving 85 and my mom was like WHAH, and my dad said THATS A TEXAS 55 cuz in the olden days sw pilots would sneak a little extra speed when it was supposed to be 250 max and they called it the Texas 250. Now u can’t cuz the newer planes tell the tower what speed the plane is reading for the pilots.

Your dad is truly amazing. He isn't just a great teacher in the field but also in the air. Thats a great bird to learn to fly in. The low wing helps with making a softer landing and being complex you also can get your complex rating the same time you get your private. Great video like always.
The flying was interesting and the landing was tricky. It is good to experience that so you can deal with such situations in the future.

Great video Kate! Your dad can talk a lot too! The raccoon is really great, as I can see you have to be careful! It must have been a great experience flying in Montana. Many years ago I was flying in a DC3. It was really great. I am glad you landed safe because of the wind. But as you say there is always wind, so when you want to fly, you always have to take that little risk. Here there was a big storm and my house is very damaged. Greetings from the Netherlands

Boy Dad is always drilling you to try and make sure you learn. My daughter would tune me out when she had enough. But she should of been listening so she could have avoided mistakes. But I have to admit it isn't always so much fun being under a drill sergeant. My Dad wasn't so much of a drill sergeant but he did give me what I needed to know. But when it comes to flying I would be listening with both ears. You guys really stay busy. Thanks for sharing so much with us...God bless!!!

I live trap the pack rats in my barn and let them go....... well I wont say where, but they're someone else's problem!
Dad took the whole family to San Diego for vacation in the Cessna (five kids & mom) and coming in to the international airport we were following a Boeing 727; mom pissed her pants! It was a little bit bumpy from the turbulence! Mom was trying to get her pilot's license too and even soloed, but she quit.
Dad was hard on us kids, but looking back, I thank him; it meant he cared a lot! Tell your dad you love him because one day he could just be gone!
