Oh BOY!!! Today was an interesting and fun day!! Dad had a few funny bloopers and I probably shouldn't have laughed but I couldn't help it!!!! I'm glad I'm learning from his mistakes. hahahahaha We had a great day seeding barley in big sky country Montana with our John Deere tractor and there was never a dull moment! The seeding drill is a big piece of equipment and this is not a farming simulator, it's the real thing. We are running with our auto-steer and GPS guidance, which is so nice to have. This is sort of a documentary about what not to do! LOL Thank you for watching!!!!

My Story…
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens, and I am a 17-year-old 4th-generation Montana farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north-central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was two years old. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm, and I hope that my Farm to Fashion and Farm to Table products can help educate people about where their food comes from in a fun way. That is how Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion became a reality. I hope you love my products as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.

Now about Dads coat.I,m 67 years old now but when I was just a small child I carried a blanket with me everywhere I went.The day before my first day of kindergarten my parents sat me down and told me that big kids that go to school don't carry blankets around.I told them fine I just won't go to school.I still remember crying all day and night missing my blanket.But guess what I did get over not carrying that blanket. Take the coat away from him. Sure he is going cry but allot of people count on him. He can't look like he is homeless.Kate I sure enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work. Agriculture is becoming fun again Kate. It actually always was for me because the 1st couple of years I only produced for on farm use of feeds, and it grew from there. Everything has always been new, a 1st for me, every step of the way. One day I’ll pass the torch.
Your expressions when your dad is mentoring you are so much like my own kids when I’m teaching them something. Which is good 👍. I am so grateful that daughters are stepping up and playing a bigger role. Being able to share that common ground with our girls means the world to us dads. We may seem course and grumbly, but beneath that, we’re just teddy bears.
Farming is changing for the better, and one of the factors contributing to this is women farmers. I have a sister and two nieces who love driving grain carts. Plus, we’re looking long and hard at how we can make the earth better, all while producing more food with higher nutritional density to nourish and comfort the world, as well as to feed livestock in a way that greatly improves their quality of life.

@Ken Myers Thank you for your amazing kindness and terrific comment!!! The cost of fertilizer is astronomical and so is fuel and seed. Our problem is moisture and unless we get some this drought is going to be devastating for farmers around here. Last year was bad but this year is looking worse. My Mom said it looks like they are forecasting a 10+ year drought which is like what happened in the Dust Bowl Days of the 1930s.

I LOVE watching Kate's coy smiles and facial gestures when she hears her father say something that's a bit off kilter or makes a mistake! LOL! And also her father's subdued (trying to hide it) smiles when he knows that he had misspoke or made a error and he sees Kate smiling from it! What a great demeanor! This and patience makes Mr. Stevens such a good teacher! My dad would have just gotten angry and yelled at me under the same situations/circumstances.

what do i see there??? I see more love, togetherness, respect, caring, and family love than most families will never know!!! Also i see that one mistake in operation could well cost the whole loss of income for the farm for the year. I also know that when they are out of the cab, there is a good chance of accidents and death if they arent careful !! And one bad turn or mistake in operation could destroy a half million dollars worth of machinery in an instant,,,,,be careful folks!!

I support your father. As long as his jacket isn't so badly ftaid it will catch in machinery I vote to keep it. I have an old shoe with a flapping soul. My wife has thrown it away twice but I keep it because Catherine is attached to it. She asks if I still have it when I don't wear it for a few weeks.

The fertilizer percentages needed. The cost of expenditures vs income, even on a base level! Farming will depress the f out of you! I'm doing this all anew. And making growth! Still super small compared to what yall got goin on.

Greetings from germany, enjoy your freedom, in germany all things are regulated in farming-business by state, for example this year is the last one it is allowed to use glyphosat. We have more controllers than farmer.

We are on the great high plains of Montana, which is like a desert. There are lot of trees around the Rocky Mountains and in the west and south part of the state by the mountains. Thank you for your great question.

Well, Kate, here in southwest Alberta it has been very dry on my farm for three years now;
(got one-third of normal production last year).
A farmer never knows if putting tens of thousands of dollars (or a million bucks on a big farm) worth of seed and fertilizer
into bone dry dirt is going to be worthwhile or not. (I now hire the neighbor to custom seed
but it is an added expense too). Best wishes to you, Darcy, and your Dad.

If we don't get rain soon this will be a big disaster at harvest. Everything is a lot more expensive and fertilizer is super high! Hey Kate.................A Suggestion. Install 2 great big truck mirrors inside your cabin so you can easily see the Wings. Saves you constantly turning around.
