- Does your 2003-2004 Lexus/Toyota Multifunction Display (MFD) give you Air-conditioning errors? Does the back up camera not display?
If so, this video could be for you. Using some instructions I found on the web, I fixed my MFD!!!
Hope this helps! - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I followed these instructions for my LX470 and it solved the problem. Thank you.
Welcome and good job!
Super intimidating, I feel like this would be something that would never ever get put back together the right way! Eek. Awesome job with the tutorial!
Thank you! With determination and lots and lots of patience and taking pics or videos you could do it!!!!
Thank you! I have a 2004 LX 470 as well with the same issue . I pulled it apart and did the fix and it's been working fine since . Thank you. Cheers.
You are welcome and thank you for the compliment glad it helped!!
Hey! I have a 2005 lc100 series with out side temperature not showing but my display has no problem, it works fine. I tried changing the ambient temperature sensor but it did not solve the problem. Do you have any suggestions please?
I would check the wiring to make sure everything is plugged in
Keep having the same issue with my 04' Ls430, thing is its constantly glitching. .Sometimes the head unit works fine right off the bat then after a few minutes or half hour later completely shuts off, or it won't work at all and then between 30min to a few hours works again and then freezes up, its incessantly irritating. So my question is would this be the exact solution?
On a side note, this should also be a manufacture recall considering how Lexus is always chest thumping of how reliable they are, i have owned 7 different Mercedes prior to purchasing a lexus and never had an issue like this Ever!
Mine was intermittent as you described, so I would guess this is same issue. And yes, with the amount of vehicles that are affected it should have been a manufacturer repair like the bmw pixel issue from the late 90*s
I have same issue nearly 2 years (LC100 Cygnus 2003). I see this video and follow the instruction (pin 60). Now my MFD (radio & air condition) working as it should be. Big thanks to Maintainer Garage.
How did you instal that stereo? I Have the exact same truck as you and I went to several stereo shops and they all told me that it was impossible to do
You have to put in a 68 ohm resistor on the C plug pins 9&10 to get the MFD to work for a/c and other stuff. There is NO dash kit so it will have to be custom. Google "68 ohm resistor lexus" and you will find great pics and info.
@@maintainersgarage hi I have same problem on toyota prius 09 what I need
Do I need the same 68 ohm?
@@danielperez-lu4ff if you are replacing your head unit then yes you need the 68 ohm resistor. If you are fixing the display, no you don't need the resistor
@@danielperez-lu4ff This repair could work for you
My Lexus RX 350 2008 is currently having same issue. It’s been up to 2 months and couldn’t get anyone to fix it. So I came across this video. On my car when I try to on my ac it says CHECK AC CONNECTION. Then when I press menu or another button it says CHECK EXTERNAL CONNECTION. Also my radio is malfunctioning. It comes on but I cannot increase or reduce volume. I will like to know if it’s the same fix before taking it to an expert who can help with this procedure. Thanks
I would check all the connections behind the radio and display, if all those are good i would GUESS that you have same problem. But, I could be wrong. At this moment it's broken, try your best to fix it. You can't break it more!! Good luck
@@maintainersgarage thanks for this advice. I am going out right now to meet a good electrician who can check all the connection and the panel at the back of the radio and screen. I gave it to an electrician who checked before and all the connections were good. They also checked all the fuse and it was all good. I am also guessing it’s the same problem with yours. Please what point did you solder and what is it called? So I can also explain to the electrician and show him your video. Awaiting your reply. Thanks
@@godswillabhulimhen-okosun9714 it's pin 60 on display plug circuit card
@@maintainersgarage I tried doing it today but couldn’t find it on my car probably because it’s a different car. Mine is Lexus RX 350 2008 model. So the panel is different. Today I tried doing it but was confused because the Lexus navigation panel has more than one panel. It’s about 3 to 4 different panel. There is one panel very close to the screen. A wider panel. There is another panel which controls the menu, climate and info button. There are two others and it’s not easy losing all of them. But I tried checking but couldn’t find any 60 pin like your video showed. I only saw c60 on one of the panel but didn’t have pins like the way yours was built. Is there anything else I cann do?
@@maintainersgarage do you know if it’s the same fix for Lexus RX 350?
when you say it was pin 60 and it was a cold solder joint you never showed exactly what to do with the solder gun. Your video is exelent
but i wish I can just see a picture of the before and after what you exactly did with the soldering gun,
The solder on the pin looks different that the other pins. Put the hot tip of solder iron on pin 60 for approx 5 seconds. You should see the solder on pin 60 turn back into liquid and then remove hot solder tip. You are just getting the pin hot enough to re flash the solder and harden again and create a solid electrical connection
Thank you for explaining exactly what you did . My Rx 330 2006 is doing the exact thing right now. And my unit looks identical to yours minus the outside temp shows up on the screen but if this works you’re going to make me a happy guy. Thanks again Bernie
@berniekuzminski1920 you are welcome! Hope it works out for you!
@@berniekuzminski1920 hi Bernie I just wanna ask is it works with your rx330 because I’m having same issue here with mine
rx330 same issue
Ahh i did not know that!
