  • This video isn't long because there aren't too many, but no car is perfect so here are the common issues and problems with the Lexus LS430. I hope this video is helpful to those who are looking to purchase one. The issues I mentioned in the video are the ones that I found to be the most important.
    Hope you all enjoy

If you get one of these without the nav it’s a perfect timeless car. All money was spent on over engineering things you won’t ever see. The best built car before needless amenities and computers took over. An absolute tank.

In the back ground of this video we heard: a Harley with custom exhaust, a Cessna 172 flyover at low altitude, what appeared to be an F1 race off in the distance, a competitive ATV competition, and a motocross bike (with custom exhaust) doing top speed runs.. just playin man really appreciate the video/points as I’m in the market for one, really curious to know how common the failure is on the air ride suspension.

I've had five of these cars. Including the Ultra. Ultra had leaky shocks I had to replace. The others the only issue I ever had was the door actuators. Every single car had at least one that failed! Other than that I had 597,000 miles on one, 386,000 on another, 259,000 on one, 327,000 on another and I'm at 168,000 on the one I'm driving now. General maintenance was timing belt, water pump every 100k plugs and wires 100k oil every 15,000 miles I used Mobil 1 extended performance and I only use NAPA PREMIUM SYNTHETIC OIL FILTERS!!! I have done extensive research on this no one compares... Don't ever ever ever use a FRAM oil filter!!! But ya brakes also but that's it. Best car low cost you can use toyota parts and service so it's inexpensive to run. I use premium fuel but sometimes will use mid grade. I have used regular but I don't think it runs as well. Maybe it's in my own mind.. but ya. The best all around comfortable car ever made in my opinion.

I bought an '01 a few months back and the guy I bought it from must have watched this cause just about all of these things had been upgraded or replaced already. I love these cars so much, they do their job impeccably well and they're so under the radar. All I would suggest adding to it is get the EVC throttle controller, really wakes up the car and feels completely different, while having the option to revert to stock.

Major thing to remember when purchasing a car that is over a decade old is that you are buying the owner, not the car itself. I got mine from a measly owner who skipped oil changes and took poor care of the car. Here I am 3 years later and paying exactly the amount I paid for the car itself to get it to almost stock condition including the engine rebuild. 150k miles and had to have a 3UZ-FE rebuilt! My repairs and maintenance journal goes on and on so, guys, check your car thoroughly. I know the maintenance history in the US is very clear and you can check it, but in other countries not that much. Also, in poor climates, check for rust and underside conditions. And tell you what - after all these repairs, it is still a great car, an amazing ride, a powerful tank that I still love and don't want to set..

When you start the car the Lexus logo will appear and the screen will go blank after a few seconds with no I AGREE message ever appearing. If you push climate control or audio you can make any adjustments or changes you want and after about 10 seconds the screen will go blank again. the LS430 is a world record holder for reliability. ive got 177k on mine and it runs and drives almost new. buy one of these now, great family car, super comfy and very handsome car imho. the only thing I would bring up is the tilt/telescoping motor for the steering wheel. they fail and get stuck. they can be rebuilt though.

Although this particular 430 model was selling at 1/2 Price of a current Tesla S. The interior of the Lexus is several levels above the Tesla S. The leather is very soft, high quality and perforated. The real wood inserts cabin feel so luxurious and classy. The ride is serenely quiet without any rattling even after almost 2 decades old.

The interior of any Tesla is very plane, boring and cheaply made. Almost any care has a better interior that a Tesla but yes the 430 is way better.

I bought a 06 ES 330 for my wife, but at the time I really loved the LS 430, Didn't get it as it was rear wheel drive and considerably more money at the time. I have always wanted wanted the LS 430 for the ride and perfection of the engineering. Will get a 04-06 LS 430 maybe in the next year or two. (still not getting rid of the 330 as nothing is wrong with it, also have an Avalon hybrid) Is there a better year from 2004 to 2006 ( I guess the answer is they're all about the same, but just wondering if you have an opinion on that) I know i want to skip the air suspension.

He forgot to mention, on the UL model, the rear air con will stop working, also on all ls430's, the coolant from the radiator will leak into the gearbox causing gearbox failure, best thing to do is replace the radiator at around 100000 miles, or get separate cooler fitted, also the front doors start to rust towards the bottom.

When you buy any used car especially over 15 years is always as is. Checking is good but you won’t cancel a purchase over small broken things, you fix it yourself. It is an old car

Have a 2004 LS430 with 200kms on it just replace all the shocks and it’s riding on glass again. My new problem is the breaks were sinking and giving me small heart attacks. Thou it would still stop I had to do a couple quick pumps. I had the breaks blead twice and both garages said that’s all they would recommend which I found ridiculous. So I looked on Utube and decided to change the break cylinder which cost me with tax and labour $1300 Canadian. Just picked up the car and it breaks ok but still not as forceful as I’d like, what else can I do?

Steering shaft u joint is a Toyota wide problem! NBD to fix and not too much money but the 117$ headlight bulbs suck ! Plus damn near every one ever gets a left bank manifold exhaust leak which causes 02 sensor problems.
