Vehicle was purchased new from Lexus Mission Viejo in 2004 in south Orange County, California. It arrived as equipped above at the Port of Los Angeles and had a sticker MSRP of $73,329.
Very detailed vehicle maintenance/repair records were kept; even the cost of fuel over the entire ownership of the car!
We still have the original window sticker with all options and prices.
Clean CA title.

I'm 24, and while most of my friends wanted me to go buy a 2 door coupe, I opted for a 2005 Lexus LS430 with the Ultra Luxury Package with only 65k miles! This car is amazing!
that the best choice you made :) lexus are just unbeatable question of reliability and quality control
Wowwww, that's AMAZING !! Where in the hell did you find it??
Don Shah im definetly going to buy one as soon as im finished with college
I own. 2005 ls430 ultra luxury as well . I purchased mine from original owner in Northern California with about 65k original miles on it . Black on Black I searched online for 6 months everyday . I wanted original owner ,garaged , black on black ,ultra luxury .
Jay Jay and how much?
This shit had radar cruise control in 2004?!? Damn that's so impressive!
I think a few cars had it. I had a 2003 Infiniti FX35 and it also had radar cruise.
I have the 2001 LS 430 and it had the laser or radar cruise control as well. 01-03 did not have a rear camera, that started in 04-06 upgrade.
e38 had radar cruise back in 99' :D
i have a 2002 ls430 with a rader cruise control n back n so on... and i have had it for more then 4 years now so far i have only done brake pads rotors n oil change if anyone wants a car and having to spend absolutely 0$ lexus is the way to go...

The Japanese know how to do things right. They don't rush and they really take out their time to bring out perfection
Dumo Asechemie Lexus = quality and perfection.
Different culture AND if they didn't copy, copy, copy everything like they did for the 2nd half of the 20th century into the 21st, they'd probably be offering up what Russia builds today. In otherwords, if it weren't for western civilization engineering know how, they'd have little to offer!
@@majorbass1035 The ZiL limousine is pretty much proof Russia can make a great car.
@Jbog07 I accredit their cultural ways of doing things...and all the MUCH healthier diet!

To me this is still the flagship LEXUS. Every time I see one on the rode, I think, "Yes, that is THE Lexus." Luxurious, sophisticated, refined, handsome, and understated.
kings17court and Timeless
As an owner of this car I'm very happy to hear that :) ty
Naw bro ls400 is THE Lexus, that's the one that started it all...
This is when they perfected everything proud owner and will never sell Only took me 10yrs to get it lol but it was worth the wait✌🏽Ultra
Yep, the 430 is all of those things. A total wolf in sheeps clothing.
My dad had this car when it came out. I remember being a kid and sneaking over to the garage door to take a peak at the car when it was new thinking how big that car was, it looked like a limousine to me! Also had more presence than the same generation S class it competed against
This is better than most modern luxury cars
The Lexus LS is the finest utilitarian vehicle in automotive history. You can always find another vehicle to beat it in any particular area, but nothing else on the road puts it all together as competently and as flawlessly as this one.
heymisterderp 2002 models are shit
John Sluder Yep, definitely better than the '02's. Bose does blow Levinson out the water, no doubt.
Agreed. If you believe in Toyota reliability Toyota's best are in involved building the Lexus LS, doing the best engineering in the world. They are bullet proof almost. I owned a 1996 400, a 2001 430 (drove for 12 years) and currently love a LS460L. Truly the best built cars on the road today.
indeed they are! even if im not a owner of the LS series myself, i really do appreciate the level of dedication and detail theyve gone throught to make this car. you can notice in the other model series aswell (like the perfectly balanced chassi in the is200 and incredible smoothness of the inline 6 engine along with the gearbox being amazingly smooth). 'i wish more people appreciated them but most people where i live rather buy a crossover of various brands or drive around in bmw, audis or volvos...
Bose are you serious. What car has a Bose system that sound better than this?
Many car's still don't even have half these feature's.
Many plurals do not require apostrophes. In fact, none of them ! Cars. Features. Nuff said. If one drives a Lexus, one demands certain levels of precision and accuracy.
Stan Da Man Eat your heart out Chrysler 300 touring haha
Because most of people just buy the cheaper one without options
I was shocked at the price for this. I can't believe the used car market didn't crash yet.
too bad it looks old as shit
I got a 1996 LS 400 and second owner, and today April 7th, 2020, I got an LS 430 white and can't wait to drive it about 500 miles one way from Minnesota to Chicago and while not Fort Myers or Miami Florida. My LS 400 got 264,520 miles on it after driving from MN to Miami. Drove like a champ and about 25 years. I take my hats up to the Japanese Lexus engineer and Thomas at Maplewood Lexus for taken care of my old baby. Thanks
People who don't have one never will know... Even new cars don't compare...
Your so right bro they will never understand even when I try to explain it lol just glad I'm will forever own this car for the rest of my life
This is my 5th one... I wish I could find one with less than 20,000 miles

Adaptive cruise control and collision mitigation in 2004!? Daaaaaaaamn
This was my favorite style of Lexus LS ever. Classic look and superlative drive. I would buy one for my mom if I could.
I have the same car and it is unbelievable. Found mine used on autotrader with 63k paid $15.5. Get one and don't look back.
Found mine with 86k on the clock, all records, and paid 10k! It has 120k miles now. Never one problem, maintenance only!
Hey Erik .. how is yours doing these days? There is on for sale in my area for $5k that has 150k miles on it. I would need it to last 10 years ... think that is viable? Assuming it passes a mechanics inspection?
I almost bought one until I found a GS460 and i had to jump on it

Did you buy it? Im looking for an advice
@@cawagoshy nope I got cold feet and went another direction.
You can never go wrong with a Toyota.
SlickPlayz You know it! Scotty Kilmer agrees too. Now rev up your engines!
I just bought one and I'm very impressed .
I'd trade my Avalon for this ls430.
Slikz Oh yes, these days you can go very wrong with a Toyota depending on choice. Toyotas, which before went over 500,000 miles are no longer as reliable since they are made with a CVT transmission.
Watch Scotty Kilmer’s video (a long time Toyota lover) who tells the story of how Toyota couldn’t get over the embarassement of recalling 3 million Toyotas for faulty transmissions. So they still did the recall, in what was the most massive of Toyota’s lies for the decade. Since they didn’t call it a recall for the Corollas and lied about the reason.
Just stay away from CVT transmissions!!!!!
And you’ll be fine
@@spruceguitar Japanese cars have been going downhill since 2015. The pride and loyalty of Toyota/Honda is a thing of the past. It's all about the bottom dollar and not about the quality any longer. I would NEVER purchase a new car in today's world.
By far still my favorite Lexus. The quality of their vehicles at that time is unmatched. I sometimes long for the yesteryears of Lexus. Great videography!
Carolina King same here
Carolina King I still think that The LFA is the ultimate Lexus- how much engineering went into the fast and high Regung V10 + the sound is insane.
Loving this car
It still is unmatched. You just have to pay for it.
I just got my first Lexus coming from driving Honda’s since 2005.
Let me tell you. They make the best cars on the road.
I am on my second LS430, and they run wonderfully... Amazingly, 100-150K mileage models are currently available for about $9000. My 2005 was totaled at 220,000 miles, and my insurance company gave me $8900 to buy another one. "Quite torquey" is an understatement. They haul ass. Push the ETC button, and it accelerates even better. I have never seen 26MPG, but I am a still loving the acceleration.
I have a 2005 Lexus ES 330. OMG that thing is already heaven. But this LS is something else. How can you not love Lexus?
Bought one a couple months ago with 29k miles for 13grand. Perfect condition. Has the modern luxury package. My dad likes it so much he took it from me.
I don’t Shower lol 😂
13 grand? sounds like the deal of a lifetime for a car with 25k miles

@@davidm2938 any problems with it
JuniorGotTheJuice Nope so far these cars are as good as everyone says they are haha. I love It i have the 2005 Ultra Luxury.
I remember there was a Coach edition of this car too and it came with a leather coach bag in the trunk. A boss of mine actually bought one of these new and I was in awe. He payed close to $80K at the time. I remember swearing to myself that I would own a car like this one day
Here I am 16 years later and still nope....lol
Got one yet?

Got one yet?
Got one yet?
Hurry up and get one
I sure hope you got one
Almost made me cry. Used to have an 2005 LS430, had some other Lexus models after in the meantime but nothing stands out like that one. Now unfortunately have a 2019 Mercedes B 200D, watching this makes me want to go trade in that terrible Mercedes for one of these bad boys again
2004 I got for peanuts...in 2012. Still runs beautifully. I've replaced a front control arm bushing and had to WD40 the sunroof seal. That's it, in in almost 8 years. 143k miles. She sits in the garage for the most part. If you've got one of these, hold on to it. It was the pinnacle of Lexus excellence, back when Lexus was actually excellent. Just that silky V8 the way it purrs alone is enough to make you want one. Everything feels so buttery and I mean everything. I will never EVER get rid of this car.
Scotty Kilmer would be proud!
Hhahhha yess
He doesn't like this car ironicly
Kris Martin I’m fucking confused lol
Actually LS is the only model Scotty is against because it is V8 not V6. I think he is wrong.

I see why main stream rappers and hip hop artists rapped about Lexus cars in the early 2000's
Kyron Poullard
In the 90's too! 👍
Mostly In the 90's by rappers from New York, like biggie, jay z, Nas, Lil Kim, Lil Cease, Foxy Brown, and others. Nas owned a white SC400, Jay Z owned a white GS300 and biggie owned the red Land Cruiser but mention Lexus LX4 and a half and had a white LS400 limousine in Players anthem video
Remember when Ludacris owns a Acura Legend

Darth Volvo thank you for that :) We’ll see what happens, and if this opens any doors
David Bello I second this!
Loved this video. I just seen the ebay link and seen it was sold. If u find another ls of this quality lmk
Mercedes & BMW are so over rated, after the warranty expires these cars have no resale value, they are nothing but unreliable, next to impossible to repair
imho THIS is how reviews are to be done. semi short, full of info, some driving clips, a doug demuro reference, it has it all. and around 116k miles this car is still a baby

A better buy than many new cars!! AWESOME JOB LEXUS!!!!
Our family 2004 RX330 has 275,000 miles. Original transmission and engine. Other than normal wear and tear, the only thing that broke was the A/C compressor. I'm surprised that the motor that moves the steering wheel out of the way EVERY time you get in and out of the car still works. No oil or other fluid leaks at all.. that's impressive! ;p
Geez! I learned some new stuff about my LS 430. Great Video my dude.
I never thought I would be more excited about a car from 2004.
Fantastic video. Car was way ahead of its time. I owned a 2001 model in Ultra Luxury trim until a deer jumped in front of the car. Not a single thing failed in the car and it was easily serviceable by me. Your video brought back how much I have missed it. Funny thing I never did ride in the back seat much - it was the best seat in the car!
Sounds like it wasn't deer rated though.

TheHvk I just get sad when I see others success and it makes me cry. That may be why people do such things.
Doug is extremely Biased in has reviews, has a scoring system that makes no sense, and refuses to make his videos with anything other than imovie
Doug will review a car thats a 10/10 and still shit on it if its a brand he doesn't like, and he doesn't hide it either. He never objectively looks at how good a car is, he just looks at the badges.

Anyone thinking about buying a new Lexus? Save your money. I have 2 new ones, RX 350 and IS 350, and they are full of plastic, drive like a top heavy bookshelf, and lack the wow factor that warrants a 55k and 60k dollar price tag. Buy one of these in the best condition you can and just make sure all the suspension is in good working condition along with all the usual stuff. People dont usually get rid of these cars for no reason. Usually ride quality is what makes Lexus owners trade or sell, not new body styles. I have bought many that I thought just needed an alignment and tires and ended up needing bushings, tie rods, ball joints, and steering rack bushing to get riding like from the factory again. Never buy aftermarket parts unless they are cosmetic and non functional and even then...Personally I would trade my new RX and IS for a 2009 GX and 2012 LS any day of the week. Even 2009 RX 350 and 2009 GS350. The mid 2000s Lexus cars have nicer leather, more wood grain, heavier feel, softer materials inside, and carpets and trim and accents all seem nicer and built better. When they changed to spindle grill in 2014, 2016 for RX, they also started making plasticy interiors, cheaper leather interiors (soft tex standard on some and leather is an option now) and gearing their transmissions for high mpg ratings. These 8 speed transmissions surge, search for gears, feel unstable and hesitate like no other. Software updates help but dont fix. Get the RX450 hybrid with the CVt if you must buy a new Lexus SUV or go one step higher to GX. I would rather drive a mint RX300 than the new RX350. Ugh
2010-2012 LS
2006-2015 RX
2007-2013 Es
2008-2012 GS
2011-2014 GX
2008-2013 Lx
I spoke to a Lexus engineer about this car. He said that 2004 is absolutely the sweet spot model year wise (as in the actual year it was built, not MY as you Americans state, ergo, the year after.) He said that the 2004 430 defines the word bulletproof and basically every single last component was built to last practically forever. I really really want one of these but they are so hard to find in the UK, or if they do come up, they command a stupidly high price.
Perfect!! I drove many of these while I was parking cars in the late 2000 s and I loved it!!! One of the best interiors and quality cars I have ever seen
I agree. Drove this a while back and I was freakin impressed on the comfort and overall luxury feel
The greatest video uve done so far. So much info but suttle yet firm.

I have an 04 and LOVE it!. Bought it from the original owner in 2017 with 55k on the odometer. In 2 years I'm up to 120k. Not one problem. Just regular service and it runs perfectly. Luxurious, comfortable and fast when needed. I want to try to get 500k out of it. Tempted to get a newer car, but why? Love my Lexus LS430. Great review of this timeless car!
These lexus are designed to drive! Not garage kept like the previous owner.
I like You coming from a 240, am seriously shook and made happy by anything with more than 200hp. I remember when I first test drove my Polestar V60 I chuckled the whole way around the block, too much power!
Le Leedler thank you :) the S60R is a lot of fun too, but on paper it’s the same as the LS. It would be fun to compare those two
David Bello Actually the S80 is equal to a LS. The S80 has a 200 hp non- turbo straight six, 268 hp twin turbo straight 6, then a 310 hp V8.
I believe the S60 only had non-turbo and turbo 4cyl. Maybe a 5 cyl.
The Polestar was a different animal altogether!
Great review! I've always liked this generation of the LS. It looks classy and has amazing reliability, especially when compared to it's German rivals. Good luck selling this one. I'm sure it'll find a good home!

Love these cars...especially the nice cars you only make 1 payment on (1 payment at time of purchase #paidfor vs. 72 payments like your neighbors do).
I have a 2007 Sequoia - wife has Avalon they will run forever. This Lexus is on my list next.
People sleep on those early LS400/430s but they’re amazing testaments to Toyota’s work ethic.
That's when Toyata was at their peak. After 2006 the new LS, GS, ES weren't as impressive.
Listing removed? Already? You video was that good 😜
Ido Alfasi I had the time zone wrong for scheduled posting. It’s up now!
Apparently it did not even sell for 10 grand, which is beyond me, it was a steal.
As good as the car was the problem you're going to run into is the parts availability after this many years. Whoever purchased it that car is on a one-way trip.
Im not a big JDM person but I can tell for a fact how magnificent and how big the demand and desire the Japanese have for this car (though its rebadged as the Toyota Celsior). There are good few Japanese youtubers with this car and ive learnt and started to like this car. Back in 2015 I got picked up by one of these by a car service from CT to JFK. At first I thought "hey its a Lexus LS cool but whatever". It had 150,000 miles but my god it drove smooth as silk and comfy. Every bump and pothole on the Bronx Highway that I was aware and braced for life in my BMW E90, the Lexus just drove over them like it was nothing.. My Great Aunt also used to own a (Toyota Celsior) Lexus LS400 from new back in 1989 till 2014, it had over 200,000km NOT A SINGLE ISSUE!! When I first got into it back in 2011 and saw it in my mind I was thinking "what an old heap of junk" when I was driven in it, it was so comfortable I couldn't believe it. Everytime we have family gatherings and her LS came up, she always was debating whether to sell it or not due it its age but like I said it had no issues whats so ever..Eventually though... she traded it in with to a Lexus HS......basically a Lexus Prius...sad but she wanted something new and smaller being that shes 79 years old.
All those options 15 years ago. Very impressive and they all still work perfectly.
Well summed up. Excellent review and well thought out. Thanks (Canada)
Kellington Link thank you for watching
I had same model for 3 year and it feels amazing to drive...
Lexus/Toyota ..the are best on road.
Just discovered your entertaining review. I love your style. I love the Lexus...Lexus forever.
And it’s only aged well” well said. As the years go on these start to look more and more classic. Love the design!
I’m convinced this is the best car ever made!!😱😱😱
You should review a LS460L... Same quality, same detail but, much newer and refinded.... I had a 2001 that I drove for almost 12 years... Sold it with 244K... What a great car...
Dave Evans How much did you sell it for?
$3k
How about the maintenance cost of the vehicle ?
@@cloutxatlas9343 fair...if you keep up with it, DIY or Indy repair places they are not too bad yo own. Where. Buying one go over to the Lexus owners site, you can put in a VIN and see the history...if you find a used one that was always serviced at a Lexus dealership, you will find a very dependable car that could last for many problem free years.
@@TheCoolDave Nice because I was looking into a 2003 model and it has low mileage of 68,000.
This Beautiful Lexus is an absolute Masterpiece! I Love it
such a perfect car
* * The LS430 was the last Lexus that was PERFECT!
I have the 2001 model with 158,000 miles on it original buyer and owner since...and still looks, drive and feels LIKE IN THE FIRST DAY! WILL NEVER SELL IT! * *
Depending on driving conditions for those miles, it's time to start paying attention to the upper and lower control arms for that year. Never get it wet under the hood or in the trunk.
@@wholeNwon "Never get it wet under the hood or in the trunk"...care to explain?
@@gt-c- The electrical connectors in all modern cars are subject to slow corrosion, if they get wet. All sorts of electrical gremlins can result over the following months or even years. The right trunk well of the LS430 contains an important computer and several other vulnerable components. Water can collect there.
Finally 1M Views for this very well made video. Congrats @David Bello !
Surprisingly excellent review! Great car!
Just found your channel while searching for a Doug DeMuro review of this car. Instant subbed!
Damn....Lexus/Toyota really consider everything for comfort and reliability...
Just bought one last week... 2006 with 50K miles! the best car ever!
Incredibly, these Lexus models were even more reliable than the average toyota model of its time
I believe data shows that the LS430 was the best quality / most reliable car w/in the span of a decade - measured by defects per unit.
Got a link for that study?
Mercedes is the #1 Selling Luxury Brand in the World, 4 yrs in a Row!! (2019 Sales) Mercedes 2.34 Million, BMW 2.17m,
Audi 1.85m, Jaguar / Land Rover 558,000,
Lexus 298,000, Cadillac 156,000
-- Mercedes S-class has been #1 in the Large Luxury Sedan Category every single year since 1972 for 48 yrs straight in World Wide Sales!!
Mercedes Amg GTR PRO lapped Nurburgring in only 7:04 if you want a Luxury Fast Toy! 😎👍
@@JESUS_IS_GOD Sales doesn't translate to better quality and reliability. It's really simple. Mercedes resale value is has taken a hit in the past 10+ years, they have a very low resale value, and that's partly due to their lower quality and reliability scores. They have maybe 2 models that rate well in quality and reliability, and everything else is subpar. I would always choose Lexus over Mercedes, much better car for the money.
@@elibutton Hey you and ONLY 298,000 other people are definitely in the minority. I'll stick with the Ultimate in Luxury & Technology 😎👍 with 2.34 million Mercedes Buyers
@@JESUS_IS_GOD To each is his own. Low resale values, lower quality and reliability, spends more time in the shop, spend more $$ at Mercedes Dealership (because you cannot take it anywhere else to fix it). Doesn't sound smart to me....but.....to each is his own.
"- Hallooo, my name is Franck Eggelhoffer, i am a wadding planner, i lave Kenny G, and loooong welks on the beasch, i have a pog, Nietsche, and i drive a Lexus LS430"
I read that out loud, hilarious!
If my ‘98 LS400 ever dies, I’ll probably get one of these.
If.
I have a 98 GS 400 with 214k miles. The wife and I drove it from Tampa to Atlanta and back and it ran like a champ. The car is in mint condition with no rust or leaks. My wife love that car over any car she's ever had.
Good luck waiting that long 😆 they mostly never break
@@djbhe I have a 98 gs400 too, bought it in 2012 with only 29.5k miles then, and even today (sun 5/31/2020) it has under 43k on the odom. Its a 2nd car for me but it runs like a champ and I would have no concerns taking it on a cross country trip and back. I foolishly once considered selling it, but its just too good a car and KBB says EVEN with the ultra low miles, its only worth maybe a couple grand. No thank you!!!
@@rawn4203
You better hold on to it. They are still in demand right now today.
I don't think I can ever drive another car tbh. This is it. This is the best.
I still love my Lexus ES330! an '04 too! I love the fact that if I ever have to get something repaired (which is very rare), yea, It's a luxury vehicle, but at the price of a Toyota! parts are very readily available and super affordable.
No way! I was just looking at these yesterday and thought wow is that an 01?
Yannick de Vries the 2001 has slightly different headlights than the one in this video, but almost same car.
DIAMLER right! But looks like an 07-08 car!
the 01 didnt have led lights and had less features, but its from the same gen.
2001 also lacks backup camera, 6th gear, has slightly smaller boot, and bo Bluetooth.
One of the best reviews I've seen.
Great videography and narration.
Kenny G was fitting for this car.
boutta pull up feeling like tony soprano in this
Just bought one for 3k, 200,000 miles on it. Still cruises like butter. Amazingly comfortable car!
Take note, timing and water pump are KEY to replace once you get one. After that, it'll see many more 100's of 1000's of miles!
How your car riding
@@V59971 Pretty good, though I've noticed the FLCA bushings sound noisy when hitting a speedbump. This is an easy 200 dollar fix.
@@shakotansean8157 enjoy your car
Don't most lexuses have a timing chain?
It's amazing how new and modern this vehicle seems in spite of being fourteen years old. Shockingly so, really.
