Blue belt here. That knee on belly to pass changed my whole game
Fact
Big ass white belt here. I just started using knee on belly 😂 I didn't before because I thought if I used it in training it would be considered rude because of how big I am lol but now I'm over that ✊️ oss
@@831liftingalothey man no shame in using your weight, it’s a huge advantage especially in a self-defense scenario
This video has been out for two days. You commented same day. It really changed your whole game?
@@robturner2709 could’ve learned it elsewhere you bully😂 c’mon man be kind
Congrats on 200K Subs! Well deserved!
Thanks for the tips, Jordan!
One of the best BJJ tips videos out there! Your content is top notch Jordan. Ty!!
Love your channel, won my 2nd IBJJF Worlds last week executing your principles. I recommend you to everyone who will listen, I'm amazed at how many refuse to invest 10-15 minutes a week watching your content and keep letting me wtfpwn them in practice and competitions.👊
Thank you so much! I wish more people would watch too haha. The views are decent, but more way people could and should benefit from my hard work making these!
JORDAN YOU ARE THE GOAT TEACHER! I Just started jiu jitsu, about 35 classes under my belt now and initially had trouble understanding the WHY behind techniques. Three days ago, I purchased your BJJ theory course and my ENTIRE GAME has changed DRASTICALLY just in a few days. Im able to sweep and control everyone SO MUCH easier and my higher level partners look at me like I’m a new beast now, it’s crazy. It’s all because of your concept of INSIDE POSITION, which is fuckin Genius. It really helps you understand the WHY of BJJ which makes the game so much easier. by just focusing on that one concept it’s helped me breathe better, relax, dominate and I legit haven’t been submitted since I bought the course! (I know this won’t last though lol) . My confidence is at an all time high thanks to you. I know I still have a LONG way to go but your concept is giving me motivation to train harder now. I can’t stress how that ONE concept applies to literally everything and makes the sport easier. thanks again and if you aren’t downloading Jordan’s BJJ Theory course you’re doing yourself an absolute disservice! I’ll see y’all at the top 🫡
I love hearing that! Thank you! Glad you're having so much success with my teachings 🙂🙏
Forever appreciative of your hard work, content, and sharing of your knowledge! Your channel has been helping me out plenty over the past few months!
Your videos are phenomenal! Awesome work!! I always learn a ton.
Thank you! Means a lot to me 🙂
I always come to learn, and you never disappoint. Thanks a lot!
🙏🙏🙏
Fun video, thanks!
Thanks for these vids-you are helping a lot of ppl with them
Glad to help! Thanks for the kind words 🙏
Great tips, Jordan!
Thanks man!
Your videos help me so much! I’m a one stripe white belt three months in and i’ve been watching your videos ever since i started and it improved my game so much. The amount of valuable information in these videos is crazy, never stop doing them!
Glad to hear that man! I will never stop 👊
Love your content Jordan. Using it to help me with my first comp coming up👍
Happy to help! Good luck! 👊
So, sooooo close to 200k subscribers! Telling you that your content is great seems redundant at this point, but I think the subscriber numbers speaks for itself. Well done Jordan! 👏👍👊
Thanks man, almost there! I'll be back to more regular content again now. More go content too finally 🙂
Cant thank you enough. You are such a great teacher. Your channel is pure gold. Thank you
I appreciate that alot, thank you!
Awesome tips bro
This is a great tip for guard retention, Professor!
Good stuff Jordan !!!
Thanks man! 🙏
Thanks Jordan. Everything you put out is unbelievably helpful.
Thanks man! I always put a lot of pressure on myself to make sure it's A++ content. Glad you find value from it 🙏
One of the most concise and effective guard passing videos ive seen in a very long time. 👏🏽
As always, simple but necessary. Great content!
🙏👊
Super Thanks!!
Rolling front head lock. Absolutely. Slick white belt here, and this three striper loves him some half guard leg attacks. I shut that down every time with the rolling front head lock. So glad i saw that here.
One of favorites!
A particularly good video. Thank you🤩
Glad you enjoyed it 🙏
👊 great video thanks
No problem! Glad you've enjoyed it 🙏
these tips are a fantastic summary
Glad you think they were helpful 🙏
This was an EXCELLENT video, thank you!!

👊 great video :) I always enjoy seeing my over under pass on Darren 😆
It was a thing of beauty!
Thank you great stuff
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice plug at the end for the last tip! Love it!
Haha thanks! Saved me some work too lol
Your channel completely changed my jiu-jitsu for the better. I absolutely love your content
Appreciate that a lot! Thank you!
As someone who doesn't even train anymore, I still love watching your videos to try and keep up my technique. Hoping to get back to the mats soon - keep up the great work!
That's so cool to me! Glad to help! Hope you're back on the mats soon 👊
Love the way Jordan teaches BJJ!
Thanks man 🙏🙏🙏
So right about the “knee on belly”
Our school calls it the (Shin ride)
I'm definitely guilty of tip #3 and it usually goes horribly for me. I'll be more cognizant of this from now on. Thx J!!
It'll definitely help a lot! No more hanging out in no man's lands haha
I need to watch and assimilate it a few times more. Last monday I got frustrated against X guard from 3 different colleagues. I had no clue how to fight against it and this video gives me, at least, a good starting point. Thanks Jordan!
Thanks man! X guard = best guard IMO. Can't let them get under you! If they do, control their feet!
I just wish I could be as chill as you
Once again, another great video. I’ve been training for a couple years and I’m still gaining new information from your videos. Please keep up with these types of videos offering tips and concepts.
You are an amazing teacher.
Keep it coming.
I appreciate that! Thanks, Johnny. Happy to be of help to your journey 👊
This is great!
Thanks!
Haha! I love number 8! Also, I'm definitely guilty of number 3 far too often. Gotta keep that in mind.
👊 another great vid. loving the podcast too. I tried about 6 of the big name ones but I like yours the best cuz you cover the most actual techniques and concepts. I don't really care about some random ADCC 3rd place dude's full life story
Thanks man! We're getting better and better at the podcast. We just need to be more consistent with filing episodes. Glad you enjoy it!
That xguard sweep was sweet. Have you covered the technique?
Awesome video, do you have any tips for guard passing on super sweaty mats? we have a smaller room, can get wet fast
Thanks man! One thing that helps is working on your grip strength so you can still hold grips even with the sweat. Slowing down the roll using grips and pressure also helps a lot. Basically everything remains the same but you just have to be extra technical and really prioritize control to limit your opponents mobility.
I´m all In for the two "F*** it" Versions as i have a tendency for Legs and Front Head.
Very helpful! Can you or have you already had 10 tips to guard retention?
I don't but possibly I should soon 🤔
The running joke in BJJ is "just stand up" and i have been trying to implement it into my game as much as possible. There are more opportunities to stand up when rolling than you might think.
Ya exactly. If they don't have any grips on you, just stand up 🙂
Will you be running any BJJ theory course promotions during Christmas? I'd like to buy it soon
Yepp definitely
I learn something new with every video Jordan uploads... Today it was knee on belly isn't supposed to hurt! Never knew that haha
Oh and thanks for the shoutout!!! Remember my ugly mug when your elbow is exposed!
Whitebelt here. Im rarely get submitted by a blue and even a purple because of your videos man. Love your work.
Awesome job man! Happy to help 🙏
Thank you thank you. Domo Arigato Gozaimas
Your videos have helped me a lot. I’m still terrible, but maybe LESS terrible now.
Glad to hear that!
I really appreciate the way you think BJJ. No place for chance. That’s why this sport is so difficult but so entertaining too 😊🤙
Thanks man!
When passing I’ll reach for an underhook sometimes and they’ll go for an armbar. Do you need to be passed the kneesheild to reach for an underhook ?
Great question! Overall not a great idea. You need to pin your opponent on their back using your underhook. If you take an underhook when your opponent has underhook it'll mean they're on their side and can get offense going. I plan to make a video soon all about underhooks!
Gems treasures ❤
🙏
Hands down the best BJJ channel out there. I learned more from the principles you share in videos, than in many hours of training in my gym. Just love your principle approach to teaching.
Thank you so much! I always love hearing that 🙏👊
1:48 you say minimize as much time on your knees as possible but what if your partner has a really good leg lock game would you recommend passing from the knees or do you think the reward beats the risk when it comes to leg exposure vs a good leg lock player?
Still you should minimize time spent on your knees. If they can underneath your hips and entangle your legs you're not controlling them well enough. From both on your feet and on your knees this can happen, again if you're not controlling them well enough. Joseph Chen passes very similar to me, using a low posture head quarters. He faces some of the best leg lockers in the world without issue. It all comes down to control. Overall you have more control on feet than your knees because you can drive your weight into your opponent. Which is very useful for control. If you're standing straight up without any control than definitely you'll get leg locked.
Is there a reason why underhooks aren’t used as much in Gi? It’s such a dominant grip, but I feel like playing spider guard or going for judo throws delays the ability to control someone.
Underhooks are very useful grips, and one of few available in nogi. In Gi there are a tonne of useful grips and more ways to get the job done. You can roll Gi and be successful with a nogi style using mostly underhooks. The other grips are just more options.
Coach, is it better to shoot a double leg without dropping down your knee? Andrew Wiltse said a penetration shot without knee-drop is ideal; what’s your thought on this?
Depends how low they are. It's always better not to have to do something if you don't need to do. If they're have a high postured stance then there's no need to drop the knee. If they're low it'll be essential.
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu I see, thank you coach!
Cool
Dude sweeps Machado 0:28 😮
Question for anyone - would the leg positioning in the leg lock be considered reaping the knee? I can never understand this concept
It's a weirdly nuanced thing but it is reaping if you control that same leg with your arms. It's not reaping if you control the other leg.
I'm a brown belt and just now starting incoporating the neon belly game. Strange I never realized how important this position is.
Happy to hear it man! It's great once you get used to it 🙏
is passing from the knees really that bad it feels like its way more safe and i dont get swept/leg locked
Yepp it is. You can also get leg locked on your knees.

Why I am always trying to keep my elbows tight but never thought about looking for exposed elbows of my opponent? This is soooooo strange how my bjj brain works..
Haha now you know what you should aim for! 🙏

Yoooo I’m a 3 stripe white belt, and these videos have been helping me with my fundamentals a lot. I mostly train nogi and I’m in the “ advanced class “ ever since I hit a kiss of the dragon in front of coach. 😂. I really enjoy your content.
Awesome man! Glad you enjoy it 👊

Next course after Kimura trap!
Good idea! 👊
Great video as always! I really appreciate your teaching. One question, if you see this... you say to pass on the feet, makes sense. Lately though I have been following Marcello's advice (czcams.com/video/Jm2k-R25B5A/video.html between mins 3 and 4) and it has gotten me quickly into halfguard and avoided a lot of leg stuff. It is apparently only intended to be against a sitting opponent but anyways I was wondering if you always rather pass standing up or have any use for starting from the knees against a seated opponent?

Smart man taking notes!
I learned the hard way my knees are shot from playing on them. I dont do it mush anymore
🙏
It’s crazy how it took me 9 years of training to get what Jordan is showing in this video. All of you are very lucky to have Jordan!
Thanks man 🙏
Never pass on your knees, this is a good one ill try remember :)
A must-know 🙂
