- The Sad Decay of Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant came into the NBA as a young prodigy with nothing but potential. By 2014 he was the League MVP at the young age of 25. But exactly 10 years later, Kevin Durant has become a shell of his former self. Once one of the most beloved superstars in the game became a villain within the league. - Sport
I spent a month on this, The start of a new era.
wow...a whole month on a video of a dude you think was born 10 years after he really was...that man was born in 88..not 98..
@@amaybinam😂
@@amaybinam
Damn 😂
The craziest part is that this is almost all his own fault
Almost??? It is his fault.
The foot on the 3pt line was all him definitely. Kyrie's injury during the series though was all on Giannis. Whether it was intentional or not is another story for another day.
@@willn8664 he got 2 injury prone people to play with him you gotta factor that in when you’re building a team
@@willn8664It was not intentional.
@@SyteJacksonThe parts that he could control are his fault, not the ones he couldn't.
I truly believe that even if KD had inevitably made all the same controversial decisions, his career legacy would look a lot different without Twitter. Social media destroyed the man’s psyche and overall happiness. Even his Golden State chips that get discredited wouldn’t look so bad if it wasn’t so obvious that it wasn’t worth it to him.
I honestly think the beginning of his discontent personality began with that “Kevin Durant is not nice” campaign with Nike. He just became a grumpy malcontent from that point on and it progressively got worse.
He’s a baller. He’s a pro. You can count on him to show up and play the right way. You just can’t count on him to be happy about it and you damn sure better be walking on eggshells around him because he needs to get his way at all times or else he might get bitter.
He's not a leader, social media or not that would've been a problem.
Also factor in what Draymond green said about him. And he fs felt a certain way about it.
0:30 "Kevin Wayne Durant was born on September 29th, 1998." 30 seconds into the video and you have already made a mistake.
Kevin Durant has nobody to blame but himself. He could’ve built a solid legacy by winning with his own team but because he decided to join the Warriors, win 2 rings and not do anything afterwards.
KD basically sold his basketball soul to the basketball devil as soon as he left for Golden State. BTW, no one is mad he left OKC people are mad at why, where, and how he left.
I am sick of this children story. KD career went downhill AFTER he left Golden state. In 3 years he won 2 nba with 2 fmvp, then he left to prove that he could win without Curry (if he wasnt so insecure, he wouldnt have even felt the need to still having something to prove) but ultimately proved the exact opposite while curry lifted his fourth ring.
@@NNoitraaHe didn’t leave to prove he could win without Curry. It had nothing ti do with Curry. He left because of the situation with him and draymond. Draymond pushed him out of Golden State. I don’t get why GSW still keep draymond. He’s also why Jordan Poole left GSW and he’s a dirty player that just averages a triple single.
@@Gk54493 After he saw on social media that noone was giving him credit for the 2 chips he had won, and mostly due to the reason that it was "Curry's team", Durant wasn't happy in staying in Golden State no more and that's why he and draymond were often arguing.
I mean, he was even caught liking a comment on Twitter that was discredito Curry's role in the team in favour of Durant 😅
@@Gk54493That’s partially true. Draymond did push his buttons, but KD was incredibly sensitive to the Media and Social Media saying his rings didn’t count. Both can be true. Draymond was a bit harsh but KD was also very insecure and it didn’t mix well
@@NNoitraa I’m going by his words. He opened up about it later and said the main reason he left was cause if draymond and how GS handled that situation. The rest don’t matter because no one knows but him and that’s what he said and that’s when the warriors started to play differently and worse.
Kind of sad that this era is now officially over, none of these greats are likely to win another title, it feels like a death in the family.
I still cry watching that MVP speech
Regardless of his legacy Durant’s MVP speech will always be an iconic moment in his career.
It is kind of sad, though, that with how talented of a player he is, the most memorable moment we have from him is an off the court speech
Kevin Durcant win on his own
Blocked, unfollowed, removed from group chat, taken off MySpace
@@SpexMedia SHOT BLOCKED BY ANTETOKOUNMPO!
It sad because you can see this man could have been greater, but the Super Team era hit him hard. Lot of these guys could have been so much better, but once that Super Team Heat hit in 2011, everyone jumped onto the bandwagon of "Why work? When I could just coast to rings with the help of other top-tier talent?" and Durant was one of the absolute worst cases of that, not only did he coast, he coasted in one of the absolute worst ways. 100% this was his fault, his choice, his mistake, but if he actually worked for everything like he had been doing, he could have been so much greater.
Or he's just not that great of a leader but will always be a great #2 😂
LeBron permenantly changed the league for the worse lol
I remember him crying with his parents after the Finals cause he wanted to win so bad.. I remember him being so likeable. He became a bitter person after the move to GS. The last player I thought would do that at the time.
Dude wasn't born in '98
😂😂😂😂😂
Man what a crazy personality shift from his mvp year
One of the best documentaries I've ever watched. Subscribed
I love your channel. Great videos
What a simply incredible video. Beautifully narrated and composed.
Thank you🙏🏽
0:30 Dang so he got drafted at age 9?
Lmao
lmaoooo. i had to play that shit back 😂😂
im sholll like this mf not younger than me
Damm 1998! So young.
0:30 kevin durant was born in 1998? Never new he's still in his mid to late 20's. 😂
All this stuff looks bad in hindsight, but what ultimately crushed Durant was Steph winning a ring without him before AND after KD. Then add KD's atrocious playoff record post Golden State.
Great video bro
Man he one of the greatest of all time period.
We cant forget that he had an injury most players never fully recover from. This could have affected his decisions and mind set after leaving the warriors
Great video btw
Can’t lead anyone anywhere, he’ll be thought as an afterthought when it comes to nba history
The night we lost Mikal and Cam still hurts.
one of the greatest videos i’ve ever watched, felt like a movie 1000/10 good work bro🔥🔥🔥🔥
🙏🏽🙏🏽
0:31 does this mean KD supposed to be in his prime right now lol?
Can you post more about the playoffs !
In some alternate universe, KD, Russ, and James Harden are still together with maybe 2 - 3 championships under their belt........
.....playing for the Seattle Supersonics
In the first minute you say Kevin was born in 1998 lol
Ik like wtf 🫤
Lol this dude said 1. Durant led the warriors which is completely false. Curry was easily the best player on that team and they had a better win% when Durant was hurt vs with Durant + Curry. That should tell you everything
2. This dude called that Raptors team with Serge Ibaka, Marc Gasol, Green from the spurs, Kawhi Leonard and Kyle Lowry "young and unproven"
I feel like im in a fever dream lol noway i just heard that
After seeing this, I’m no longer mad at KD for going to the Warriors.
He did to LeBron what LeBron did to him. If Miami was not a super team, OKC would have gotten their 1st and no telling what happens after that.
Kd has cemented himself as just a "top 15" player could have been top 4
He top 10
We have to protect you at all cost you tell the truth u not like the people on TV 📺 ESPN TNT ETC
He’ll be incredible once he reaches his 30s 😁
16:16 in what universe was the 2019 warriors deep? after iggy, the warriors talent falls off. they were starting mckinnie in place of durant for crying out loud
9:27 "I had so much help" and then proceeds to wanting all the help.
Well done video. I disagree on the last part when you said he can’t get the praise and respect back. There is only one way….
One last resort….. in the words of Cody Rhodes… “ finish the story”
Ask for a trade back to OKC.
He has history there, he still arguably the best player to play for that franchise. SGA will be the emotional leader, all KD has to do is help seal the deal. it would be one of the biggest redemption stories in sports history. Fans and media will root for him to finally overcome those demons.
The hard part is trying to get KD and GM Presti in the same room to mend fences.
Depsite me being a die hard suns fan, I’d be happy if he finished the story in OKC
@@SpexMedia I feel he’s gonna see what the suns do this offseason first before he decides that
Ring chasing in his prime.
Holy fuck me and KD have the same birthday 😮
the downfall of Kevin Durant has fed families
I think you meant 1988. Durant was not drafted by the Seattle Sonics at age 9 😂
I hope
Miami doesn’t do a trade to get him anymore
Nets acquiring harden and suns acquiring beal are what ruined the teams he went too, 3 stars and no role players
He can win again if he replaces mpj on the nuggets
KD's the only NBA champion I've known so far to have been caught red-handed posting cringe on main. His legacy for me was his social media blunder.
How tf was he born in 1998 if he’s like 35
1988
Kevin was not born in 1998.
So true, but he did it to himself.
The year he was born is 1988 not 1998!
Heres a song on the world's smallest violin🤣
LMFAOOOO
00:30 KD was not born in 98 I think you meant 88 lol
I was like wtf? He had me looking dumb counting on my fingers and shit.
0:33 1988 not 1998
I love kd and think if he didnt go to golden state we still would have no rings but he did now he does can we leave the man alone
The scariest team known to man? Do you mean Kobe/Shaq Lakers, Stephs Warriors or MJs Bulls. How do you get waxed by the Mavs and dismantled by the Spurs and still be considered one of the scariest teams of all time smh. I can't believe that you said that
The cavs were lucky to escape the celtics in 2018...a team missing its 2 big stars and being led by 2 kids... i no way they were beating golden state
Sad for who? Decay? Russell Westbrook, for example, has a legion of dedicated fans. He never won anything. Durant has two rings and one could argue that he was better at basketball than anyone who ever lived.
1998 what
No one wonders how this happened everyone knows why
a lot of these comments be disregarding the fact that KD is still putting up insane numbers on a team with other super stars.
But he still can't win a ring without Curry.
@@christopherorrante289 okay?... Lmao I'm not saying he's the best to ever do it im just saying he's really not decaying... He's putting up stats as good as ever
Currys younger and his stats are already declining more in comparison to durant
@@WillVroo Yeah but still hasn't won without Curry
Cleveland were on a roll in 2018 season? 😂😂😂
Who retires his jersey? Golden State I guess
Sonics
No one
He is still a great player. Like top 20-30
Tier below bron
Bro your videos are starting to become more and more annoying. Watch some basketball and actually watch the games “ suns downfall” and now “ decay of Kevin Durant” I use to enjoy watching your videos for Phoenix suns news now it’s just pure clout chasing
If KD stayed in OKC i believe he would have at least 1 chip. 2 imo. Most importantly, he would be viewed higher on the all time rankings. I believe he wouldve won it with OKC the year the Bucks on it which wouldve made him greater. Its becaause he had a very savy front office in OKC which became much better after the new CBA which benefitted front offices like OKC who can make intricate deals. Also he wouldve had more of a say in the front office as time went on. He needs a competant front office to succeed with a quality point guard. Hes a star that plays best amongst stars. He is capable of leading a team but i like him more with a quality piece because hes a better catch and shoot shooter than off the dribble. He is a better scorer in more fundamental and traditional styles of play and systems as opposed to isolation because he is immensely fundamental in his skill set and the ball moves more. Also he didnt give OKC the chance to choose a more modern coach and he didnt allow Russ to develop into the passing PG he became. What he didnt get is they were much closer to winning against GSW than they thought. Klay had a night for the Gods in game 6 i think.
Kevin Durant is not a legend and not a hall of famer. The standards for being a hall of famer should be high, and leaving OKC for golden state took him off the list.
Maybe in YOUR mind, he isn't. He has certainly met the criteria for being a legend and a HOFer overall, regardless of opinion. You just said that the standards for the HOF should be high, but then said that his departure from OKC to Golden State took him off the list. He's not a legend and a HOFer because he left one team for another as an unrestricted free agent? That's a lousy reason, and that's not how it works. It doesn't matter how good the Warriors were.
KD was the missing piece for the warriors and it would have been a dynasty if he wasn’t so sensitive to the criticism.
I never had a problem with KD going to the Warriors at all. Cause look now you have the same dumbasses that had a problem with it saying he should have stayed. Never let the media create thoughts for you.
He was born in 88 not 98 lol
If he would’ve just stayed patient in OKC he would’ve won the title the right way. He’d be a legend in Oklahoma like D.Wade in Miami, Lebron in Cleveland, Kobe in LA. But nope..he let the media talk of rings and comparisons to LeBron control his destiny and for that he went to get the easiest 2 titles ever by a superstar. Damn shame KD
First Coming
Pp
KD is a snake and a bus rider
I really miss prime Durant. I would pick him over Lebron anytime 🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🥺
LOL should have just stayed in Golden State. He’s not a GOAT, he’s just a great center.
It seems as if he NEVER had a desire to stay with any one team...
KD to Denver next year? LOL
F durCANT
Kd never had a legacy to begin with
That’s a crazy take so does d rose have a legacy?
He's a bum
Durant will always be known as a bus rider. Not a leader/ champion
How can KD be born in 1998 and be 35 when I was born in 1994 and I'm only 29?
