Imagine stealing a car and it turns out to be one of the biggest names on CZcams who has first and foremost spent his entire career building up a community. That dude f***** up.
@@retrohipster1060 not only that, he stole an easily recognizable car. He definitely wont be able to make use of it unless he gets it chopped up and sold the parts. Even that wont be a lot of money because the parts are old

yo i havent seen you in awhile
That's why you don't steal something easily recognizable from someone with a platform that reaches millions of people. Just ultimate stupidity.
I don't know why but it's so funny to imagine that Lud has a network of ludbuds willing to activate and do whatever Ludwig needs, in this case, finding Lud's car.
calling the cops and them saying "sorry not available right now, call tomorrow" has got to be one of the most awful feelings
that shit was so funny to me. imagine finding your stolen car and then being told "nah sorry bro maybe tmr". dont know if i wouldve been more mad at the cops or the guy who stole it
I can fucking relate to this so hard with the corrupt police in my city.
Everyone hates the police until they need em. Funny how it works, tho must admit LA cops are not the best around but then again LA is a disgusting cess pool of a city. Inside a cess pool state
lapd is fucking TERRIBLE, hearing him say that just made me, unfortunately, think ‘oh OF COURSE they say that’
Reason number 264927 of why living in large cities is absolute shit. Smaller town cops have literally nothing better to do and will go gung ho on anything that is bigger than a traffic violation.
The audacity to say “I’ll give YOU YOUR car back for 10k” is beyond lunacy I would’ve given him 10k in medical bills if he told me that
Especially considering it's a stolen car too, he really thought he was going to get away with that lol. He really thought he was just allowed to bargain like that. As soon as he said that I'd have known he was full of it.
This is very common. I've seen a lot of people asking for a ""reward"" when they find lost objects, and they probably were the ones that stole it in the first place. At least in my country tho
Sheeesh put him to sleep
Me personally, I'd be inclined to give him a brand new ride. The nicest wheelchair money could buy
For real of your gonna try to blackmail someone you best be able to protect yourself. Shit ain't a joke when your caught literally sitting in someone's stolen car. He's lucky they used cameras instead of guns
I'm not really a regular ludwig Watcher or anything, but it is pretty cool to see this. It's nice to get a reminder that people can work together towards a positive goal with no guaranteed prize or anything for themselves

But if the LAPD could pursue the case further, they can go into the stores of the small mall, and question around to see if he's a regular. Maybe even get lucky and find receipts of things he bought and track him down through that.

Hey lud! I have an old 80s Japanese car and they can be much easier to steal than modern ones. I recommend getting someone you know (or doing it your self) to install a secret kill switch from fuel pump so the car can't run. I hid mine around the shifter boot, but you can put it under the seat, carpet or anywhere. It cut's fuel delivery so the car can't run. I recommend it especially since you live in an area like LA. Hope you see this and can make it much more secure as I love little kei trucks and don't want to see yours get harmed!
The fact that his immediate reaction to law enforcement getting involved (and he tried to hold the car ransom after he was told it was stolen) leads me to believe that the guy in question is the one that stole the car and he was trying to lie his way out of getting caught red handed. Glad to see you guys were able to get the car back and it's somewhere safe for the time being
I'm surprised he even tried to ask for 10K. Receiving stolen goods is a crime too lol
That liberal LA for ya
If he weren’t responsible, why would he park so close to the car behind to hide the license plate? And he didn’t just do this once, but twice
I don't think anyone would steal a car and keep using it. He was either aware it was stolen from the beginning or made aware by the previous confrontation.

So glad that the subie was recovered. I own my dream vintage car (Jeep XJ) and would probably be heartbroken if someone stole it.
I recommend getting a kill switch installed somewhere hidden if you have the means, that way even if someone gets past the ignition they wouldn't be able to start it.
Please Ludwig, please try your best to press charges against that guy. It was very risky to have Yingling and Slime to blindly rescue the car (first attempt) but hopefully they got to record that guy’s face or ask the guys at that massage place. Definitely press charges, but it's unlikely it'll provide any benefit to ludwig or any punishment toward the culprit. California crime system is unfortunately a joke.
Am I understanding this situation correctly?

-> reddit finds the car
-> his manager goes to see the car and the thief is inside the car
-> thief asks 10k for returning the car

@@kurosakiichigo7475 can confirm at least in the city where I live they do something similar to what ER doctors do when shit gets really busy and basically if it's not a very urgent matter you have to wait longer. Triage more or less and a car theft isn't a life or death situation. They will still eventually send someone to collect evidence though.
That's an issue solely in very large cities. Crime has gotten absolutely out of control over the past 30 years with neither political party in this country really doing anything to PREVENT crime, as it's not about the tools/weapons used in them, police funding or state handouts that reduce crime, it's instilling morality and virtues on people which ultimately comes down to families. It IS telling in my book how much of these places with an overworked and hated police force are Blue cities/states, but what do I know, I've lived in both large Red and Blue cities with similar population numbers and know which one I would prefer to live in. Not saying crime doesn't happen in conservative areas by any means as I've had a car jacked from me in a pre-dominantly conservative city, but the overall numbers don't lie.
Though honestly fuck both political parties at this point as both have devolved into pure extremism ruling both sides.
It doesn’t help that LA and other large cities have defunded their police force.
@@aquatazer they absolutely have not defunded their police force... I live in LA and hearing that is just straight up a misinformation. LA JUST increased the police budget to add cops to all the trains. It's absurd. They'll pay millions of dollars to put more cops on streets to sweep homeless people from one street to the next instead of actually helping anyone.
The city I lived in before I was here? Chicago. Lori Lightfoot literally helped push more money to cops in Chicago than any mayor before her. Remember when the BLM protests were happening during early pandemic? Yeah, she funneled money earmarked for the pandemic towards police shutting down protests, no matter how peaceful.
