    The new pocket floodlight model 2112-21 comes in a seriously small profile while still providing 445 lumens output.
    Thanks to Milwaukee and Home Depot for providing a review sample.

    Is the battery cover thin enough to just epoxy a small neodymium magnet into it to fix the back magnet issue?
    Would sanding some material off of the plastic cover for the magnet give it enough strength to hold on?
    Other than that issue, I really REALLY like it, and I hate waiting for the next generation for Milwaukee to fix their issues.

    A nebo big larry is a good option to this for around $20-. 400 lumens on high, 160 on low, a red flasher, strong bottom magnet, runs on 3 AAs for about the same time, rather than a hard to find proprietary rechargeable.

    • @DoresoomReviews

      That looks like a pretty good option too, especially with its aluminum construction. Although it seems like it would eat through batteries pretty fast - I've ran down and recharged this light well over a dozen times by now. That's almost enough to make it to the break even point on the price difference.

      I looked, but didn't see a nondestructive way to open up the battery case to find out. I'd wager it's likely the same cells tjey use for the 5Ah M18 batteries, which makes the $20 price tag a little steep for just a single cell.

    Why is my charging light flashing red and green when it’s plugged ?

  • @qx4n9e1xp
    @qx4n9e1xp Před rokem

    I've been having problems with mine charging, and nearly tossed them in the garbage. I bought a kit that came with two batteries. BOTH stopped charging, in BOTH the flashlight itself and the backup battery case. I was using the original cable Milwaukee provided, and various different charging bricks (high quality Belkin & Samsung ones)
    Nothing was working, til I found out that the lithium battery is a poor design. If it doesn't "lock" into place, it can come loose inside the device, and even though you can still use the flashlight, the battery isn't making proper contact with the terminals to charge, so you get that flashing red & green every time you try to charge.
    I would leave them charging overnight, and it would still be dead the next day.
    I ended up putting a few layers of tape inside the flashlight back cover, so it adds some pressure towards keeping the battery firmly sat on the terminals. I still have issues sometimes, but it's a little better. Milwaukee has some re-designing to do, but other than that, the flashlight is great. Very durable, bright, and lasts a pretty good while before needing to charge. I LOVE 2-brightness settings over 3-brightness.
    Too much clicking to turn on or off to the right setting. Just give me two, and a more reliable battery system, and this light is great.

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for that troubleshooting tip! I've had that red/green flash happen once and just ended up pulling the battery out and using the standalone charger and it charged fine. Haven't had the problem since with the light though. I must have re-seated it accidentally as you describe.

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Před 2 lety

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Před 2 lety

      I think the plastic is sonic sealed or glued. You'd probably destroy it trying to disassemble.
      EDIT: I stand corrected, this guy upgraded his cells. czcams.com/video/XuZp9w5CwG0/video.html I don't think I'd attempt to do so though - he used a spot welder for the contacts on the battery. You could probably also solder if you're skilled enough. But that's not something I'm going to try myself - accidentally overheating a lithium ion cell while soldering can be pretty dangerous.

It doesn't stick well to my toolbox either, or most other ferrous surfaces I've used it on. If you place it vertically it's a bit better, but horizontally it's no good and will rotate. They released this in 2017, so USB-C wasn't nearly as popular then. I do wish they'd upgrade their Redlithium USB tools to it though!

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Před 6 lety

      I've tried it on more than just that framing square - it won't even hold on my powder coated gun safe, or the cast iron frame of my bandsaw. If you got yours recently maybe Milwaukee took note and upgraded the magnet without rolling the product number. It's been done before with other minor tool tweaks.

  • @user-sd1ns7ke9z
    @user-sd1ns7ke9z Před 6 lety

    Good thing, but way-way overpriced. The good price for the whole piece would be around $20. But 60 bucks it too much.
    Keep in mind that a very good and quality 18650 cell's price is around $1 if buyng in bulk. So, conclude for yourself...

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Před 6 lety

      Don't forget there's the overhead of design work that went into the electronics to manage the charge though - it's more than just bare cells. I do think the $20 price tag for the spare batteries is too high, seeing that there are 10 of the same cells in a 5Ah M18 battery pack, and those go for around $100 each.
      Somewhere between $10-15 would be a better price point for spare RedLithium USB cells, and maybe in the $40-50 range for this light would be awesome, but I think it's worth quite a bit more than $20.

    • @user-sd1ns7ke9z
      @user-sd1ns7ke9z Před 6 lety

      I strongly believe that the prime cost of this light is around $5 including packaging. Let's give it $5 more for logistics and $5 more for advertising. The rest is the bare profit.
      Couple of 5Ah M18 in set is about $100-110. Which means $50-55 for one, not 100.
      I agree with you about $10-15 for RedLithium USB cell and $15 more for the light itself.
      And we come to $30 of total fair price. But $60 or even $50 is just greed. That's my opinion.

      @i_am_macgyver84 Před 6 lety

      I spent about 60-70$ on the m12 stick light before the price dropped and $80 on the m12 flood light, and those are 2 of my favorite lights. As soon as I see it in store I will buy this light and the pen light. If you're complaining about the price go buy some garbage from wally world.

    • @user-sd1ns7ke9z
      @user-sd1ns7ke9z Před 6 lety

      Don't mess complaint with opinion, ok, bud? You can spend all you want for whatever. If you want to spend $500 for this light, it is your choice. And I'm sure this light is great. But it doesn't mean that I cannot believe it is overpriced.
