  • We all need light to do our jobs. Milwaukee Lights are probably the broadest range and include the most LED lights among all the tool companies. Our team did our best to find the best Milwaukee cordless LED lights that fit in a Mechanic's tool arsenal. We start with personal lighting, like flashlights and handhelds, then we move to task-specific lighting, and finally we cover the larger jobsite lighting. In addition to providing the features and specs, we also discuss where they fit and how. #milwaukeetool #mechanic #homedepot

    Man I'm sad you didn't mention one of the best selling points for the pen light, and the reason I instantly bought one. It's one of the only few pen flashlights that has a rubber end portion so when you have the light in your mouth youre not biting down on metal. Just a really good mechanics everyday carry. Cant find another pen light that has that rubber bite zone AND that's rechargeable with good amount of light and battery life for the size.

    That pack out light and charger piece is awesome. Seems pretty big and bulky for what it is though. For the size of it i expected it to be to hold storage as well. I bet there would be a way to mod it to use as a stoage case/box as well. Pretty awesome tho. Not a huge Milwaukee fan, but they are definitely good on their lighting game. As long as they actually last awhile to get your value from the cost.

  • @peeposadboy
    @peeposadboy Před rokem +2

    I think the m12 packout LED flood light is honestly a really good DIY mechanics light, because you have something you can take with you while under the car that has storage space for tools and nuts/bolts. The usb charger is a nice addition, but I wouldn't use it to save battery life. Not as useful if you have a lift at home, but majority of DIY mechanics don't have a lift at home, and most of us are lifting our car on jack stands, or at least quick jacks(which isn't that much higher vs jack stands)

    The underhood light system and the little rover lights are absolutely genius and got my full attention!!!! I'm a mobile mechanic/car audio installer and lighting is always in short supply. I may need to find me a few of these. My little magnetic bluepoint lights have served me very well for many years but stocking AAA batteries is a pain in the rear. I'd rather have some sweet, beautiful red lights to match my tool boxes and other gear (and vehicle) very very cool lights.

    I figured it out. For the 600 lumens head light to make it compatible for the Blot hard hat you need to detach all the straps and band ( so it’s just the light and battery pack left) use the Bolt hard hat accessory clip to attach the light. Bring the battery pack to the back of the hard hat and use the back straps of the hat right above the adjustment knob.

    My go-too work light is the old 2111-20 'hardhat' light with swappable batteries. I generally use it continuously whether automotive or home repair of whatever. When the battery dies, I pop in another one (charged in offline charger) and can keep going indefinitely. Not crazy about built in batteries.
    Just got a 2161-20 specifically to share the same pool of batteries

    The under hood gets used the most around here, so many uses. Im curious about the under body transformer looking light. What size battery at the minimum would keep it from falling over if you placed it on the ground?

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  Před 2 lety +2

      The underbody is an amazing light and really helps under a vehicle. Sitting upright it's very top-heavy, so it would only make sense if it was sitting on metal. For that matter, I guess you could have a piece of 1/4" steel that could act as a base when it's sitting up.
      Also, the underhood light, even though it's several years old, is still a great light and very functional.

    I really want to invest in the under hood light but I don't know if I can justify the cost. I have all of the rechargeable red lithium lights Milwaukee offers but I don't know if it's 3 times the cost of the competition just to keep it on the same battery platform. (Then again that's coming from the guy who is about to buy the headphones from Milwaukee just to have the same battery, ignore that)

    Shop foreman here. I have a Streamlight Strion I EDC in a holster on my belt, and a non rechargeable Coast “moon beam” 50 lumen pen light. I actually prefer the low output of the Coast penlight. If I need a lot of light I’ve got my Strion, if I need to see something up close and not blow it out I’ve got the penlight. Only complaint is the penlight outputs awfully blue light. I wish it were a higher CRI light. I don’t use the penlight enough to warrant a rechargeable light and I use a piggy back charger for the Strion so I’ve always got light. Wish I was still on the line so I could justify buying some new lights. My wife says I have a potentially unhealthy affinity for flashlights but I figure we’ve all got our vices and I’m always quick to remind her there are many worse things out there I could spend my money on. Absolutely awesome video! Loving the automotive centered theme of this video!

      @Shoptoolreviews  Před 2 lety +4

      It definitely sounds like you've prioritized your life in the right order. :) It's hard to go wrong with Streamlight or Coast, they both make great lights. I do wish more of the manufacturers would put some thought and attention to the correct light color. That's one thing that I think Milwaukee has done very well for the past few years. Thanks for watching.

      I love streamlight, but the light color is terrible. I wish they would offer neutral white instead of only the cool white color. I have the little 20 dollar aaa Milwaukee tru view penlight and I love the color of the light output

    • @2down4up
      @2down4up Před 2 lety

      @@ssclassof2000 I couldn’t agree with you and Tim more. Over the decades I’ve used it, I’ve grown so accustomed to the blue light of my pen light that I’m ok with it now. But I would never expect a new technician getting into the field and perhaps buying their first pen light to accept it. The Streamlight Stinger Strion, while closer to a high CRI then my pen light, could still stand to be improved. It seems to me that Streamlight focuses much of their effort on either military/first responders, and outdoor recreation and general lighting, that I personally feel they’re leaving out a massive market of speciality lights for the automotive repair market. People who don’t work in the industry will never understand the benefit a good lighting solution can provide and the price many technicians will be willing to pay for it. Milwaukee seems to understand that technicians are willing to spend a lot of money on a light if it makes our job faster, easier, or safer. I wish Streamlight would get on board with that too and bring a fresh perspective and ideas and competition to the market.

    I like the color temperature of the Milwaukee lights, but when it comes to the smaller lights, I have avoided Milwaukee due to their proprietary batteries. I have been using the Coast XPH30R 1000 lumen headlamp lately, and I have found it to be a good option. It uses a standard (and upgradable) 18650 battery, has a strong magnet for sticking to anything metal, the headband can be quickly removed so it can be used more as more of a flashlight rather than a headlamp, and it has an adjustable beam (spot to flood).

    The rover magnets are kinda weak, especially the back one. You got real lucky yours stayed stuck on vehicle or I got a dud. The light it puts off is nice though. I will probably buy the overpriced blade stick light when it comes out. But $99 for a light to loose is hard to swallow.
    That underbody light looks amazing must admit. Too big to forget also
    Still go to Menards and HF and get lots of lights that when they drive off you shrug your shoulders and grab the next one off the side of your box and replace.
    The old m18 stick light looks abused the lens didn’t like the brake cleaner and is hazy now. Haven’t hit my rover with brake cleaner yet but if it hazes over I guess that will be my answer. Cheap lights or expensive lights

    should be titled Milwaukee love fest. I will never buy a Milwaukee cordless tool again. I got burned by their V18 NI-cad batteries were all junk in under two year. So I got their two new Lithium upgrade kits.with two batteries and new charger. All were junk in under two years. All my Dewalt and Bosch batterries have lasted over 10 years. Two years ago I updated to Bosch 18 volt system and Dewalt Flexvolt 60 volt and 20 volt tools. No problems. Still use my corged Milwaukee tools. They are great.

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  Před 2 lety +5

      I do understand most of your concerns and comments about batteries. I think you probably meant to say V28, correct?! That was an interesting detour for Milwaukee. With your new Bosch 18V and Flexvolt stuff, you'll be happy with that. Those are great tools.
      You mention the Milwaukee love fest. We set out to find one manufacturer that did the best with lighting. We'd hate to build a list of 16 lights and point people to buying from 4 different manufactures with all their different batteries. By far, Milwaukee has the best cross section of lights, and they have their TRUEVIEW lighting which provides a great color (like sunlight). So, this is why we chose all Milwaukee lights for this video.
