But replacing the fleeting, artificial 'joy' with the real thing takes time...in the Word. I dont have it licked either, but I know that once i grab hold of that joy the comes form understanding the Word, and fellowship with Him, I replace the temptation- when it raises its head- with worship. I found a great resource in a sermon by Sam Storms:"The Sin Killing Power of Christian Hedonism"!!! That, and John Piper's sermons on Christian Hedonism (Desiring God) have transformed my LIFE!!!!!!!!!! Not a 100% success, but it's biblical...and it works.

Temptation is one of the most obvious contradictions in the Bible. It says that God is not tempted by evil nor does he tempt anyone. Then it turns right around and tells us to pray that he not lead us into temptation. Even if he himself is not doing the tempting it doesn’t matter. He is guilty of tempting us by proxy.
We come into this world condemned. Sinners. It's inherited. Without hope. Seeking gratification and fulfillment from something. God is guilty of fulfilling that desire- or offering to. It does not matter if you seek every temptation to fulfill yourself, or if you never seek any. The worst sin is to reject the real fulfillment that God offers: Himself.
