    Most comprehensive and helpful video I have seen on the topic. I have had to watch it over a number of times taking note in order to capture all the information. Well done! Thanks so much for putting in this awesome effort. I feel I can confidently purchase my all terrain tires now for my Tacoma TRD Sport 4 door long bed. So important as there is no product available anywhere near me and I need to have these shipped from a great distance. I need to get it right the first time, including the decision on lift or not. Thank you from Newfoundland Canada!

    05/27/2024 I removed my stock Toyo A31 tires the size was 245/75R/16 (30.47inch and the Revs of the tires =661.93) tires and replaced them with Toyo AT3’s the new size 265/75R/16 (31.65 and the Revs of the tires=637.23) today 05/30/24 I went to the Toyota dealer for the recall on the rear axle and to recalibrate my speedometer, the dealer technician told me I don’t have to recalibrate it because the size difference is not that much. Any thoughts on this?

  • @danphilpott6302
    @danphilpott6302 Před 3 lety +5

    See my previous comments on the outstanding job you have done with this. Awesome! I have just one comment: you say that the speedometer will be off when you change the tire size to a bigger tire - off course I agree with that. But you say the speedometer will show less speed than actual. After change to bigger tire but Before calibration, Wouldn’t the truck think it has smaller tires therefore for each rotation of the tire it would think it travelled the shorter circumference of the tire and therefore read a slower speed (less travelled per rotation). The larger tire should have travelled further in a single rotation and therefore the actual speed would be slightly greater than the speedometer reading. I.e. for the same rpm you are going further, therefore your speedometer is reading less than actual? I am not sure. Just wanted to put the question out there. Thanks again for awesome and vital content! Cheers

    • @ANONM60D
      @ANONM60D Před měsícem

      It will read less because it's just a sensor counting a full tire rotation. On larger tires a full rotation takes longer, so 18" at the same speed as 16" will rotate less when traveling the same distance. Fewer rotations means the speed is calculated lower by the vehicle.

    I put the 4Runner TRD 17" wheels with 265/70R17 tires on my 2021 Tacoma and they do not fit. Sure if your driving on a flat surface with no bumps they're fine, but they rub every time I turn if there is a slight elevation change or bump. Sometimes even when turning while braking. I have an SR5 4x4 V6, maybe other configurations don't have this issue.

    • @RY-mw7br
      @RY-mw7br Před 3 lety

      If you have a 3rd gen Taco, I'd say you could easily fit that. That equates to a 31.6" wheel. I have a 2018 Offroad at stock height and literally just installed 265/75/16 tires which equates to a 31.7" wheel; no shaving required and no rubbing at all at full turn. Just using the eyeball test, I believe you could get away with wheels up to 32" or a hair less without any mods.
