- So, what the Hell is up with Helldivers 2's matchmaking and servers? Players can't get into the game on a regular basis, and when they do, it takes a while to find a squad.

Hey everyone. I know we are all frustrated with the games’ current servers and matchmaking, but let’s be sure to remain calm and not attack the devs. They are working hard to fix the issues.
I don’t want to attack the devs. I really don’t, but why would you give people 50% more XP and req when you know that would overload the servers you’re already having a hard time with?
Don’t get me wrong the devs are chads for putting this game out, I just don’t think that was good timing for that PR stunt.
@@eajjoutlaw Its not a pr stunt, the 50% experience bonus was a response to a bug introduced from the most recent patch that stopped people from getting experience. They put out the bonus within 24 hours of a bug being introduced. It's with good intention, obviously they want their game to work.
Sony needs to step in and give Arrowhead some cash for new servers.

Ive heard it might also be an issue with the game coding itself. As in it might have for example a limit on how many players itll track at once. (Not an actual thing just an example)
This is probably why its taking so long because changing code is uh... not easy.
Problem lately is the ship map says "0" players or anything else. Sit in matchmaking search indefinitely.
Having the same problem aswell can play with a friend but says no one is online at all

Been trying to get on yesterday but all I keep seeing is “servers at max capacity” 😩
Last night I was able to get on but today I couldn’t . Usually if I see that message pop-up I just closed the game and reopen it and usually I’m good but not tonight. The devs released a statement that they are working to upgrade the servers asap . Hopefully they can fix it ASAP. I hate to see something like this. Hurt the game. Sony should of made syre they were prepared for this. They massively underestimated this .

Got into the tutorial at around 3am EST, finished it, haven't been able to log in since. My Steam profile has logged around 5 hours of playtime but almost all of it is just sitting in the load screen waiting for a spot to open in the servers.
Yea i couldn’t get in tonight either . Normally what I would do is just restart the game but not tonight no luck . The Devs released a statement a couple hours ago saying they’re working to upgrade the servers . I don’t know how long that takes. I hope they fix it soon though . From what I’ve seen people have been pretty patient but that’s not gonna last. Sony should of made sure they were prepared for this .

Yeah how bout I don't "try again later" how bout I go to a different game that will let me actually play it when I want to play it. Because that what people are gonna do. The more it does this, the more people are just going to soon forget about it as other stuff comes out that actually works.

I was in a game with a friend and it just separated us mid mission. And the quick play rarely ever works.

Have you seen the player numbers? They thought 400k was a ton more players than they thought they would get, today on steam alone it hit around 330k, meaning with ps5, it's likely double. Meaning that they had survers set up for probably 200k for launch and even though they have been raising it more and more, the player count is still rising quickly. And it's not just a matter of trying to predict player count anymore because literally nobody predicted this. Literally nobody outside the HD1 community was super hyped for this game before launch, so although server issues warrant some criticism, I am more understanding in these situations. And no, it's not a matter of just "turning on more servers". I have seen a ton of people saying that and that is such an ignorant and braindead take. It is wayy more complicated than that. This isn't a situation you can just prepare for. Palworld went through the same shit and is still going through. Most online multiplayer games do, and it's going to happen even more because it's getting more and more difficult to predict what the next game to blow up is. We just feel it more with HD2 because it's a game made for co-op. People still forget that this is an indie studio and before HD2, their games were super niche. And just because they are published by Sony also doesn't mean they can "just turn on more servers". Another dumb ass take going around.
Also they have been increasing server capacity, and if you played right after they did, you would've felt it. But again, after they increase the cap, over and over, the player count shoots up by like 50k to 100k. This game is blowing up and the devs are going through it. If you notice, they have been doing updates super quick. practically everyday we get a good amount of fixes and at random times around the day too. So I wouldn't be surprised if they are actually crunching right now to try to keep up. The fact that they are trying to get devs so soon after launch and by the looks of it, pretty badly, shows that they are likely overwhelmed right now. Again, this isn't a huge studio. They have about 100 devs, which actually makes this game a lot more impressive in that context.
I’m in a discord with my brother and his friend, he told me about this game so of course I bought it and been very excited to play it. Just been looking at the title screen for hours😭

Don’t worry. I know you can’t get on the servers right now but it’s ok. Because even if you did matchmaking is 100% completely broken and it’s impossible to find a match.

They said they fixed it but it's even worse, all it says now is searching for sos beacons,...and it just stays on that message forever with zero results. F this garbage ass game! I'm going back to Warframe where I can actually get in and play when I want to play.

Server issues aside the amount of ingame bugs is kinda mind boggling, and don't get me started on pc crashes.

there Is people playing but there is a bug as of now shows no active players. but if you keep using quick play you willeventually find an SOS. servers are shit anyways dont bother playing until its fixed

A few hours??? Bruh,...NOBODY has that kind of time, people are just going to forget about this game and their attention will go elsewhere to other things that actually work. This is why companies need to bring back the debugging teams they used to have working on games before launch to release a working product. This broken sloppy mess of a shit game and it's nonfunctioning state is due to greed and want to cut corners to save a buck. I believe I speak for many who have had it with this type of game release when I say,...f**k this, I'm out!
@@QuixoticSativaHey playstation didn't expect this kind of player base, besides I've been playing it all morning no problem, yesterday it was a known problem becouse devs gave players 50% bonus on every mission reward and got 350k+ players playing simultainously. It's a great game I recomend it to you becouse it works, it is a well done game and a finished one, yeah it has some flaws but none of them are game changers to consider helldivers trash.

@@davidssins6067 I know it's a great game, I'm not debating that, I love it I just wish I could play it but as it stands now, I and none of my friends can get into the game and even if we do we can't join anyone because matchmaking doesn't work it just sits on the "searching for sos beacons" message forever with zero results.

No this not, planetside had the same issues. Arrowhead did choose playfab to manage the backend. They could have used aws gamelift that does scale with ease.

Seems like most people live in understanding about it but hopefully they can fix it because I hate to see something like this hurt the game.

The game is super successful so Sony needs to step in and give them a shit ton of servers. The game is only going to keep growing so it needs more servers asap.
I think the problem stems from the fact that they'll only get their money in a few days because steam holds the money for like 2 weeks. Until then they'll probably only release small patches.
It's not going to keep growing dude, it's going to dwindle and die off as technical issues remain unsolved and mass frustration builds. People will and already are starting to say f**k this I'm out and give their attention elsewhere never to return.
Currently I have no issues with Quickplay, but I cannot directly join my friends (nor missions via Server browser)

I can getbinto the game, but im constantly being toldnthere are 0 players online. Even though i can see how many are playing on planets. Soni try to matchmake and the longest timer ive seen before giving up an restarting has been 34 min
they've already had the exact same issue last weekend, knowing that you have server capacity issues and then proceeds to put up a +50% exp/rp event is just a big brain move I guess.
might help if they have 8 man team more opened spots
I flipped my "does recommend" to "does not" today until they fix it. Being unable to play a game you bought for 3 days is unacceptable
They were additionally not ready for players with AMD 7000 series cards to come across this game.
They were working very hard to sell pre-orders and not giving out review copies to notice that. Cmon guys, be more understanding, sheesh.

I bought the game, did the tutorial. Can't do matchmaking. Figured I would try solo on automaton planets since there's a major goal there. As a lvl 1 recruit, nah that ain't happening. Tried twice on trivial. All the 'you can play solo' talk I guess is for when you're higher lvl than literally just bought the game. I havn't tried bug planets since I've only about 30 minutes of playtime before I can't get a refund. Gonna put it down for a week and see if servers are good. Otherwise I'll just get my money back and buy it again later.

Otherwise no idea why this isn't scaled up already, they went from 100k to 450k within days, why are we still at 450K? No idea, sounds like they are not using AWS but this game is going to have about 1 million people total trying to play come this next upcoming Friday, its got 370k on a Monday, more than this Friday or Saturday.
I don't want to hear "they had no idea!" because after launch I knew there would be 300k+ trying to play this past weekend, its pretty easy math to do when you sell over 1 million copies so fast. So I don't want anyone saying "they didnt know!!" when there is about 800,000-1.1million people trying to play this next weekend, because if I know, they know.
I don't appreciate all this "we are working with our partners to increase server cap" talk they've done, speak to us like we actually know something about networking, because we do. Giving vague responses that make it sound like they are simply begging Sony for a higher cap and only makes us more concerned as to why they wont just tell us what their problem is.
And after experiencing the Mortal Online 2 launch which went down EXACTLY like this, it is kind of scary they are from Sweden just like Star Vault, as it makes me think they WONT increase the cap more, and will just elect to save the cash and wait for the count to drop as they may not believe it would stay above 450k for more than a month.
I've had pretty good luck joining games via quickplay. As long as the servers let me.
Yup it’s kinda crazy I feel like it’s a double edged sword if they start with high pop servers and fail it hurts start with a few and now players can’t play lol it sucks either way

I agree, they should've had beta tests before releasing the game to test out the servers. Also, it's not just the servers that are the problem in this game. It's also the quality of life issues.
You don’t dictate on how a whole community behaves, to even have a thought of so in the slightest shows your overblown ego. Share your thoughts, but don’t expect to lead a whole change in a whole community.
Haven’t even been able to play, due to log in attempts reached, and can’t refund cause it’s been 5 hours of waiting. Awesome
If you're on PlayStation, then go out to the home screen, go on the game tile, go down and press on activity, until it works. It will let you bypass the so called queue.
Yes the devs are working hard to get it working but they have to know that the entire future of their studio is riding on this. Sweet you got a great game that people can't play with their friends so you didn't capitalize on the hype. The buzz dies down and people move on and you just blew your 15 minutes of fame. How often does success like this happen for small developers? If you can't capitalize off it, that's it, you blew your chance and Sony walks away saying "thanks for the money, time to move on and focus on something else". I give this another month and well see 1/10th of the players.

Sucks the matchmaking is borked right now... The game is so addictive and I hope the devs can keep up with the issues before the playerbase dies off. The community is pretty cool on PC, hope its the same for console people.

I’m sure the devs are running around like crazy to fix things up. They were very faithful to the original game when it came to updates and patches.

"Dev working around thr clock to fix issues." The devs: release new enemy type (androids or something) but dont fix matchmaking problems. Ive bought the game multiple times. Each time i sit there forever never getting or finding or joining matches.

Its not a server capacity issue its just a broken unfinished game , the server issue error code was added in as a patch way to pass accountability because they know they can try to pass blame on excuse like that that excepting responsibility for taking money for product thats clearly unfinished.... again they had to add that error code nonsense its just their scapegoat ..... im lvl 38 everything in game unlocked im not even max rank and already the in game economy broken i have been full requisition points since lvl 25 ..... clearly unfinished..... live service game ....pffft 😅
This is why always online games as a service are always a bad idea...whatever happened to peer to peer?...whatever happened to offline solo play?...I'm currently waiting an eternity just to launch the game and when I do the match making is broken, apparently according the game I paid for there are zero active players...great job guys.
This isn't some MMO either...this is just a four player co-op game...it shouldn't fucking need a vast server farm, if you're on playstation they're network should be able to handle the load (isn't this kinda sort of their exclusive) but for some reason It's got to be always online.

i wish they had a JUMP sick of getting stuck on stuff that's 1 foot tall & star ship tropers lets u jump and have a jetpak so if the goal was to get peopl to use jet packs its not working jetpaks suck & not having a jump because of it sucks even mmore
so here is my problem, i cant even play solo because the base game requires internet to log in. I cant log in to a brand new game i just bought? Im sick and tired of all these new games coming out to be a fuckin mess and they expect us to just cough of money and be patient. Why not release the game in a better state?

PS5 Showing 0 Helldivers active /Enemies killed/KIA/Bullets Fired... So it's a 1 player game as of writing this. Be playing HD1 until they fix this.

The peak on the first game was around 7k people connected, with helldivers 2 there are from 300k to 400k connected at the same time on pc not counting PS5 players... No wonder their servers are down. I'm actually really happy about their success these problems will be solved as soon as possible I'm not that concerned about it even though it is true that can be frustrating

It’s impossible to enter the game, you feel like you’re waiting in line, and if you’ve already entered, everything disappears: experience, money, medals, awards and doesn’t allow you to get to the next level! How can you sell a product of this quality? At least they apologized to the players. I don’t know how you will correct what you have all lost - time! Return the medals, give everyone a gift, publicly apologize for your incompetence. (I mean Helldivers developers)
I would say that the quality of the product itself is very good. But obviously, the quality of the servers behind the product are not. They’ve been keeping us up to date on the discord about their progress.
But yeah, they have lost time.
