1 was onto to something, 2 took everything 1 did and added a lot, 3 was like playing a tutorial the whole time, gameplay was cool, story sucked, 4 was just wild because it was wild, 2 was the goat
same, it was the first game in the series i played n i fell in love with it, I eventually went back n played 2 n i loved the story in that one but the gameplay wasn't as enjoyable to me.
This is the only Saints Row game I've ever played, and I remember enjoying it a decent amount. That being said, them killing Johnny off-screen at the very start was such a terrible idea that I genuinely didn't remember he existed until I saw the intro for the second time. I get the impression he's a beloved character from what I'm hearing you say about him, which just makes it all the more impressive that this game fucked up his inclusion so badly that a new player like me could forget him so easily. I remembered the mayor, but not Johnny.
This game was my first introduction to the franchise so I have a HUGE guilty pleasure playing this. As a Saints Row game, it's not it. But on its own it's awesome.
I legitimately remember the ONLY reason I got Saint Row 3 was for the unique sprinting takedowns. No previous experience with Saints Row 2 till afterwards which I only got because I saw it had a bunch of cheat codes from my 200(8?) Cheat Code handbook...I had a very particular taste as you can tell. But hey after all this time Saints Row 2 is still a great buggy mess of a game and I still have my ps3 copy baby! Oh and good vids by the way if for some reason you look back and see this.
Saints Row 3 is my favourite overall, but I agree with many of the issues you mentioned, such as killing off Gat and the story not being as good. I think the perfect Saints Row would be a blending of SR2 and SR3. SR2's story/writing and music mixed with SR3's customisation, weapons, vehicles, etc would be unmatched.
Watched this and thought it was gonna be one of those 500k subscriber CZcams but nope it’s an underground person making some dope ass videos this was an absolute banger!!
I’m not a fan of the upgrade system. It felt more rewarding putting them behind side quests in SR2. Also the fact you can LITERALLY MAKE YOURSELF INVINCIBLE with NO WAY to turn it off in this game, is SOOOOO stupid! It removes all challenge half way through. I found myself avoiding it in subsequent play throughs.
Good game but unfortunately they leaned way too far in this direction later, although I must say if they had simply made the reboot a game in this style I would have been far happier with that even since it retained enough of the SR DNA in it. Though, we all know they couldn't make anything like SR3 in the 2020s, it would have been too much for "modern audiences" and "modern sensibilities". They said with the reboot that they wanted to get rid of the "boys club atmosphere/frat bro culture" and well, I guess they did because now they're shuttered and everyone got fired, no more "boys club" or really any kind of club at all.
I bought a ps3 because I have saints row 2 midnight club los angeles, dub edition and san andreas downloaded but if you don’t have saints row 1 or 2 I feel bad for you
SR2 felt like you were trying to take a city from 3 competing gangs. SR3 and after it felt like it was levels. "Oh, you beat the first boss, now time for the next boss".
I feel weird when talking about Saints Row the third. Because i love it. It was my first and to this day i love this game, the only open world game i had more pure joy-fun than GTA San Andreas, for years i thought it was the definitive GTA upgrade. it's been years but i couldn't bother finishing the previous 2, it was like going from MGS1 to Snake's. revenge or the NES port of MG1. So normally i don't even talk about Saints Row online bc i'm aware that my opinion is like saying you prefer Black Ops 4 over Modern Warfare 2
Weird hill to die on, but I think Saints Row IV is better. If you can look past the goofy aah sci-fi theme it fixed pretty much all of Saints Row The Third's problems. The story is way more consistent, you can actually drive from one side of the city to the other without your car exploding, health pickups mean you actually have to do shit to stay alive rather than just camping behind a dumpster until your health recharges, enemies aren't nearly as spongy and the ones that are you can just stomp into oblivion, you get the point... They're both lame ass Saints Row games who don't hold a candle to their predecessors, but I'll take the 4th one over the 3rd any day.
Might not have been the best Saints Row game, but far and away had the best soundtrack of the bunch and that alone gives it the most replayability for me.
3 was horrible. i didnt even care to finish the sniper mission it was so annoying and just the whole design of everything & gameplay felt nothing like saints row. 4 was better because of the nostalgia & the first times playing it was fun. but saints row 2 is replayable af. even the side quests or stuff as simple as going around the map and buying every store is fun
Slight Raspy aussie accent, game reviews, low hanging fruit jokes. Im in. You got a subscriber today.
welcome home bud
I unironically loved this game. Its the right mix of goofy and gangster.
I'm way more into the former than the latter though
Don’t know how this ended up on my recommendations but I like this guy😭
finally, a friend
1 was onto to something, 2 took everything 1 did and added a lot, 3 was like playing a tutorial the whole time, gameplay was cool, story sucked, 4 was just wild because it was wild, 2 was the goat
2 actually made me want my dude to wear purple
0:43 The GOG version of SR2 is pretty stable.
Also, the remastering of 3 was not Volition's choice or doing. Deep Silver contracted Sperasoft.
I know SR3 isn't everyone's cup of tea but I loved the randomness and Professor Ginki's missions just are pure awesome still to this day.

How many street cleaners & trucks do you want in your escort/tiger escort?
Volition: "SEND ALL OF THEM!"

Mechanics and game play wise, no the gameplay was definitely improved. Story and characters wise, yes they definitely dropped the ball there.

Saints Row 3 was my first Saints Row game I was 14 that time

bruh the robot pimp guy is the best thing in this game. im reinstalling it rn
I think the problem with the fan base you got half your them like me that loved 1 and two then you got a group that loved 3-goh
I bought a ps3 because I have saints row 2 midnight club los angeles, dub edition and san andreas downloaded but if you don’t have saints row 1 or 2 I feel bad for you
I think professor ganky was the best activity in saint row The third
Saints Row 3 was my first saints row game
Yes 3 was trash it took most of what 2 had did out which was dumb they didn’t build upon it
SR2 felt like you were trying to take a city from 3 competing gangs. SR3 and after it felt like it was levels. "Oh, you beat the first boss, now time for the next boss".
Hey I need you to drive me to the store for some respect. Thats the only way to take back this city.
As a fan, sants row 1 2 3 were hits
The only one who mentions Johnny the whole game IS Shaundi, the rest of the crew don't seem to care much lmfao
Shit I’d play saints row 3 over the reboot one
After the I'm white part something in me said subscribe, so I did. Totally not motivated by anything else.

i will say. rare opinion, but i respect you said it with chest. at least its not saints row 2022 homie
I'd say it's more like going from metal gear survive to mgsv and not liking it

I think the story is a cheese ball in 4 but the gameplay is enjoyable. Just a shame the cars are made nearly useless from all the powers.
Yeah, they even went they extra mile and added new customization for them, weird.
Might not have been the best Saints Row game, but far and away had the best soundtrack of the bunch and that alone gives it the most replayability for me.
