  • If you are wondering how gas or propane cylinders are made, the ones we use in our kitchen or at work place you have come to the right video to learn exactly the same. In this video we go step by step in the process of how gas cylinders are manufactured and the different steps involved.
    A gas cylinder is a pressure vessel for storage and containment of gases at above atmospheric pressure. High-pressure gas cylinders are also called bottles. Inside the cylinder the stored contents may be in a state of compressed gas, vapor over liquid, supercritical fluid, or dissolved in a substrate material, depending on the physical characteristics of the contents. A typical gas cylinder design is elongated, standing upright on a flattened bottom end, with the valve and fitting at the top for connecting to the receiving apparatus.The whole manufacturing process consists of the following steps:
    1. Blanking & Body Forming
    2. Valve Guard Ring & Foot Ring Production
    3. Valve Neck (Valve Boss or Neck Ring) Production
    4. Welding, Heat Treatment and Hydrostatic Testing
    5. Surface Coating
    6. Finishing Line with Pneumatic Testing
    7. Valve Production
    LPG Cylinder Production is composed of several sheet metal forming, surface treatment and testing processes. The process starts with blanking, deep drawing and piercing, trimming and joggling. Next are the welding operations for valve boss, valve guard ring, foot ring and the two halves. The finished cylinder is then heat treated, tested, shot blasted, painted and then the valve is attached and final tested.

    This factory looks absolutely brand new, and the "workers" are moving rather stiffly. It seriously looks like a bunch of engineers are perfecting the processes and settings prior to handing it over to the owner and workers.

    4.42 wouldn't it be an idea to only have the welding start after the door is shut ? All you need is a switch on the door, like a chuck guard on a lathe. Interesting vid all the same, no swarf or fillings were made throughout the whole process

    • @The_DuMont_Network
      @The_DuMont_Network Před rokem

      There's no filling until the cylinder is finished and tested. There are, however, filings when metal is drilled or machined.

      I thought the same thing, a simple switch on the door jamb would do. An audio or visual indicator, both would be ideal, can alert the worker that the welding is done.

      @@engineeringworld. Not sure quite what you mean lol, but some hearing protection would be good for them, unless the mic makes it louder. Some probly could use saftey glasses some places. Here in AUS my work place gives out free gloves, muffs, eyeglasses and stuff. I did also see some workers using some rags to pick the hot bottels up, witch call me over portective but heat gloves might be better because a rag could get snaged in moving equipment.

    • @singinghobbit1219
      @singinghobbit1219 Před 2 lety +5

      @@engineeringworld. Seconding what NASA the Potato said. My former workplace (in the US) had really similar machines for metal fab that involved cutting, forming/rolling, arc welding, blasting & painting. Basically all what's in the video.
      Anyone cutting, shaping, or welding needed full-body protection like coveralls (saw guys in the video just wearing short-sleeve T-shirts). Plus gloves, foam-lined safety glasses, hard hat, saftey boots, and earmuffs/earplugs. There was some welding by hand and that required the full face shield too. Even just for engineers/managers/visitors to walk through, everything but the coveralls and gloves were required for them too.
      Anyone in blasting and painting shops wore the white flame retardant coveralls (look a bit like hazmat suits) and respirator/dust mask with R95 filter. Off-limits to anyone without the equipment while work was in progress.

    • @singinghobbit1219
      @singinghobbit1219 Před 2 lety +1

      Honestly my biggest concern is the hearing protection. Even if the camera mic is making it seem louder in there, prolonged noise even at lower levels will definitely cause hearing damage. Even just having a desk next to a busy office printer for a year can permanently damage your hearing (seriously).
      Second concern is the painter without a fully sealed face mask & respirator. The paint particles and fumes are very bad for the eyes and lungs.
      The environment in this video is much more automated and machine-controlled than the one I worked in, and the finished products are a lot smaller. So their needs are going to be different and not everything I listed is necessary.

      Fusion point of brass is 932 * C. So stamping process should be around 650* C to 700* C. Probably mistake between Fahrenheit and Celsius, 1200 F = 634* C.Repkon is a Turkish company selling turkey projects to different industries sectors.
