Dan is one strange cat, but his personality and his stories are soo entertaining
I miss Dan on GI. All of his writing for the magazine was great, I also loved it whenever he was on Super Replay, he is also the author the most fun books I've read, I'd suggest any of his books.
There was sooo much hate when Dan first joined but Ive always loved him as a GB member

Dan Ryckert is literally the definition of "country bumpkin". Doesn't know much, doesn't care, and isn't embarrassed by his displays of idiocy. In some weird way, I mean this in the nicest way possible.
ch3burashka - A couple of years ago (I think this was the launch week of No Man's Sky, or very close to it), somebody sent in a test full of science questions to the Beastcast and Dan got almost all of them right. They weren't super difficult, but I get the feeling they're the kind of questions the average person would get wrong, if that makes any sense.
I only come here for Dan. Its not sad. Its great.

Honestly, I think Dan's goofy excitement and genuine nature are exactly what giant bomb needed. That, and maybe a female journalist. But I do love Dan.
Lol Canseco is a NYT bestseller because he ratted out EVERY SINGLE ONE of his friends in the major leagues, pretty much ostracizing himself from the game forever. The guy can't even walk into an indy ballpark without someone wanting to take a swing at him. (No pun intended) Lol

Thanks for posting and uploading this. I prefer the Game Informer guys over Giant Bomb and it's nice that I can still get my Dan Ryckert fix even if he isn't with GI anymore.
Be careful, 15 minutes is a near lethal dose.

It's not Ryckert's personality that annoys me, it's his complete lack of idiosyncracy. Did the site (or gaming media in general) really need another guy whose three favorite series are Zelda, Mario, and Metal Gear? I'd rather have somebody with more interesting tastes.
considering that, before this point, the Giant Bomb staff did not really like those franchises so much, yeah. Dan is a refreshing addition to the staff and he meshes in perfectly--especially with Drew!
Dprotp Outside of the "New" Super Mario Games, Yoshi's Island and Mario Sunshine, they've pretty much all continued to love Mario across the board. Zelda and Metal Gear? More mixed, but yes, Dan's goofy, more optimistic and upbeat nature (and the fact that he, much like myself still hold Nintendo to a super high standard as far as the quality of their games are concerned) is a nice refreshing change of pace, I mean I loved Patrick, but I did find the pretentiousness of his tastes to be off putting at times, what they really need now is someone who loves JRPGs and will volunteer to review more of them since Vinny is in Chicago and was the editing guy and because Brad is more or less completely lapsed from JRPGs (though he did really enjoy Ni No Kuni if I remember correctly despite never finishing it). Maybe if they got Rorie to review games more often since he loves RPGs of all kinds they would have their RPG guy, but we'll see, regardless they'll need someone to review Final Fantasy XV when it finally comes out.
+ProtagonistRP Well we got Austin Walker for Giant Beast recently and he kinda balance out all of Dan's silliness. :P
Dan sucks, he likes a bunch of bad games. Jeff is wrong about a lot of good games (doesn't like Last of Us, Witcher 3) but he doesn't love any bad games. Dan loves a bunch of bad games.
I don't really hink that Jeff is "wrong" about any games. The thing about Jeff that I respect so much is that he basically always has the open-mindedness to say "I see how you could feel that way" or "I wish I felt like that". I've never felt like I don't get where Jeff is coming from, even when it concerns game I absolutely love like The Last of Us. But you're right about Dan. It's like he's a human garbage pile. There's some good stuff hidden in it, but wow most of it is just wretched XD
