    I'm reminded of something Gordon Ramsay once said about what marks the death of a restaurant. It's when the people behind the scenes stop caring about the product that they put out. The same principle applies perfectly here, Fallout is dying because Bethesda just doesn't give a shit. The death of a franchise.

    • @i_would_but_i_wont
      @i_would_but_i_wont Před 5 lety +12

      If anything Fallout will just hibernate for a while. The fact that there is so much anger over this game speaks about the interest people still have. If it was just another bad game not named Fallout, not made by Bethesda, it would be promptly forgotten. Hate is caring. If we didn't care there would be no emotion. They'll let it settle and then bring back the franchise.

      Considering how they treated this game and the people who spoke out about it, this series will be in hibernation for a lot of winters. Seriously, this shit was just made to fund Elder Scrolls 6. They got their money following the initial release and stopped caring a week after. As it is, people are going to be really cautious when buying another one of their games, being it Fallout or Elder Scrolls. Seriously, the amount of shit pulled and nonchalant attitudes given in response to complaints could rival EA's cucking.

    It was slapped together in a hasty manner to capitalize on microtransactions. No need to spend money to storyboard, write a script, create cutscenes, or pay voice actors to read thousands of lines. The game clearly wasn't tested. Just have faith that the name of the franchise will be enough to sell copies and rope in whales. There was zero intention to create a good game.

    • @Gungho73
      @Gungho73 Před 3 lety

      Okay the one thing I'll disagree with you on is the "no testing" thing. Believe me when I say this as a vet of the industry in the testing field. Don't blame the tester. Because I guarantee you, multiple people let alone one guy or gal went "Yo shits fucked" and someone flagged their bugs as not important, and a marketing douchebag said "Ship it." That's a joke internally among us at the time because you can tell, you can *tell* when a studio is putting in tester time just to fufill obligations and have no interest in what you actually have to say.
      I can just see the situation now:
      "Hey guys the server doesnt run at all if you fire multiple nukes at once"
      "Ship it"
      "But what about the"
      "Ship it."
      And then someone like me would be bugging some bullshit like the npc's floating around after you interacted with them in a specific sequence of 1 ->2->3 on a ceiling right before we close that last day and the team is heading out.
      "Johnson?" (not my name btw but jokes)
      "Johnson. Are you really gonna keep us back. It's lunch time man."
      "Well you see this bug actually will completely delete a players inventory/storage if yo-"
      "Well now we got a WHISTLEBLOWER HERE!!! A Whistleblower!!!"
      Those environments were always the worst. This game was always going to be garbage because they had no concept, all they knew and I think you're very correct sadly is they wanted another IN on the microtransaction train (especially at the time with people actively fearing EA had just pooched the entire industries ability to abuse that market). It had so little direction its hard to believe anything else. But yeah like I said whether they had 10 testers or 10,000 it would've likely not helped the situation at all. FUBAR product from the start. Such a fall for that franchise...

      there is an appeal to fallout 3, it's just not the story. the world of fo3 is pretty interesting. it's not a good game, but if you just like to explore and dig through ruins, you can definitely have a ton of fun.
      new vegas is a better fallout game, but the world is kind of barren. i get it, it's the mohave, but the bethesda signature world isn't quite there (since obsidian). there isn't nearly as many ruins until the dlc, so those who enjoyed fo3 for the exploration are going to be let down by NV.

    This release has me very concerned. Bethesda has issues with bugs, and that's common knowledge, but they do understand game design. 76, though, has fundamental and crippling design mistakes that would ruin it even if the game was bug-free. No amount of patching is going to fix this; the game needs to be completely redone. The lack of human NPCs, for instance, utterly destroys narrative potential and delivery; what we got in return, every human being another player, smacks of being a corporate marketing decision instead of one done for the benefit of the game.

Bethesda revoked the license and sued to get their cut of the profits Interplay made on that Fallout Trilogy DVD-ROM Collection and force them to recall existing copies while also accusing them of making the title misleading & confusing so people would think or assume it meant Fallout 3 was included... even though it said right there on the box both back and front what was in it.

    Another game ruined by forced multiplayer and the developers all consuming desire for unearned money. As A huge fan of the original 2 fallout games and someone who enjoyed fallout 3/4 and new vegas, I can confidently state that I have zero interest in playing any game (fallout especially) online.

      That's a shitty argument, you simply don't like online games. Which is entirely subjective. If you want to say it was ruined, which it wasn't, it's just a mess right now, then point out the bugs and PR disasters. Even then, patches happen, and PR noise quiets down. Well, I've been lead to believe Bethesda's intricate "clock-work world design" makes it IMPOSSIBLE for their games to be polished. Now that they stripped all the game out of the game, it's still a broken mess and Brad still wants me to think they'll get their shit together for their upcoming games.

    I find it funny that everyone says regarding this game: who wants this?
    What do you spend the majority of your time doing in Fallout 3, New Vegas and 4? Exploring, shooting, looting and crafting. That is what people spend more than half their time doing in a Fallout game. Not...story, whatever that means. Was the story and characters in 4 so compelling that you want that again?
    I'm not saying 76 is good by any means, just that aside from the exclusion of an interesting plot (again), on a mechanical level it is exactly what people have been playing and enjoying for the past ten years.

    • @heliopyre
      @heliopyre Před 5 lety +3

      it doesn't matter if people enjoyed the mechanics, they enjoyed them within the context of a living world with character and story. it's the impetus for the mechanics and it's what made those mechanics fun..

    It's not bad, it's not shitty, it's buggy... if you don't like online games fine, but shitty and bad? No, there is a lot of potential with it just like with ESO, and that was a fucking mess as well. People are pouring too much hate into this because they wanted a single player game, that's really the gist of it. Over reactions from people who didn't want it, and now see how buggy it's launch is. Period.
    The audio logs extend beyond the tutorials... this is a problem with journalists, they play for 10 hours and bitch about things lol. It's dull at first, the first several hours are hand holding you to show you basic shit... this is a game you're meant to spend many hours in so several hours of tutorial shit is kind of par for the course.... Final Fantasy XIV i'm looking at you! Beyond that it has EXCELLENT set pieces that tell stories with logs to follow them up, Bethesda has always been good at doing this... this is now a problem?
    Like i said, people WANTED to hate this from the onset. Any problems now, it's going to be under a microscope and with the recent PR disasters... that's been augmented 100 fold! There is no excuse for their shitty PR! They fucked up with this launch hard! But a bad game? No, there is a very fun, very Fallout game under the bugs and technical issues, it CAN get better and should, but the people kicking this game while it's down, who don't have any interest in the future of it are pissing off those of us who decided to give it a chance. You don't have to be a shill for devs and you don't have to be ultra aggressive against them either with 200 rage click videos in a week. Not accusing this channel of it, but a lot of channels are milking the rage around this for all it's worth.

      This is true, they didn't play it a lot. They seem to think that the humans (and only the humans) were killed by bombs.
      According to 76, it was any bomb. That's silly! No, instead it's a magic dragon that turned all the humans (and only the humans) into equally magic zombies.
