    I remember that the guy from Arturia said at Suoerbooth that all engines from Microfreak will come to Minifreak eventually, it’s just taking time to do them

    What a synth. Saw your video, read some more about it and immediately decided to get it. Now i cant get the smile out of my face twisting its knobs. That combination of DCO flexibility and VCF sound, the software integration, the built in fx, the beast of a sequencer and the matrix make it soooo huge. Thank you so much for pointing my attention on that one :)

    Minifreak is probably one of the most intuitive and complete in terms of sound creation from an init patch… I found myself building a very waaaaarm ambient sound, that turned to a plucky saw Berlin school style just playing with macros…

    This is litterally One out of the Four Synths i would actually want in hardware because i love the Soft synth versions ao much (the other three Are KORG's wavestate, opsix, and modwave. They all have the same mojo and feeling as the Mini Freak: fun, easy to program, sounds way better than most 2000/4000 hardware synths,and patches that are near impossible to recreate in synths that have "more features and options"

  • @BlackMarvin

    Got one since about a month now, I love it so much. Having the Minifreak software to program stuff with the mouse and then jamming on the hardware it's awesome. The analog filter sounds great too. The only thing I'd like to have is the ability to put LFOs in unipolar.
    Also, if they add wavetables oscillator I'm gonna lose it 😆

    Have a Cobalt8M which is quite 'metallic'. I know this is also digital but do you think it is capable of warmer pad sounds? Also thinking about V-Collection. Would the freak be an easily mapped controller for the software? Great review.

      I had a few of those synths from Modal. They sound horrible and weak. Compare with a Nord synth and it is a completely different bite. It also has many bugs. I wouldnt recomend. It does nothing that a 15 year old weak free vsti cant do.

    The audio in feature also allows you to access the internal filters/distortion to mess up your sound. It is available as a physical input on the hardware or on the VST too. That is lots of fun. Also, on the back behind the matrix is a grill which clearly has some threaded screws already in place. I hope this if for a vocoder upgrade.
    The polyphonic effects sound great too: czcams.com/video/Wr6NzMJEBUg/video.html

    What sound modules would you add to this? What won't it do? I like all the early 70's bands. Can I play multiple parts at once on this sequencer? I might be playing alone.

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  Před 5 měsíci

      What do you mean modules? as in a modular synth to compliment it? Well, it can't do multitimbral, so just singular parts.

    Ignoring the keyboard, polyphony and price - Micro or Mini?

    • @oxar050
      @oxar050 Před 11 měsíci +5

      Ignoring price? Minifreak. Arturia has stated that all Microfreak engines will be coming to Minifreak as well, in due time. It also has 6 more assignable modulation destinations, an extra oscillator/filter engine, an extra envelope, the list goes on. The only reason you might pick up a Microfreak over a Minifreak, in my opinion, is if you have a modular setup, since the Microfreak has CV, gate, and pressure outputs.

    One thing where Minifreak is amazing compared to Microfreak is that it does not have low-audio level. That was the most disappointing thing in Microfreak. I was a bit worried buying this because of that but it is all good. I don't think the low-audio is just a problem in my Microfreak given that multiple threads across the Internet around the topic.

This minifreak has more grit and nex gen synth all over it. And just looks like more fun to work with. In the end, go to a store and try them out and get whichever you like more...
