- The term "unsaponifiable matter" refers to those substances present in oils or fats that are not saponified by alkali hydroxides and are extractable into ether. It is a very important testing parameter for oil or fat sample. This video represents Part-1 for the determination of unsaponifiable matter of an oil or fat sample. The video link of Part-2 for the determination of unsaponifiable matter is given below. __________________________________________________________________________________________

Do you know if carrot juices require saponification, too? Do you extract beta-caroten from fruit juices only by centrifugation without saponification?
Thanks a lot
Kasthuri kk, its pleasure
Thanx for upload this vedio
Thanks
I used petroleum ether for extraction. I got separate layer bt by washing ethanol and distilled water It did not separate what can I do.
Ethanol is fully miscible with water. So you will not found separate layer between ethanol and water. During this test, ethanol will be discarded along with the water. Just collect the hexane layer after washing.
after the saponification step, my solution turn solid, forming like a gel, when cooled. what may had happen?
If you face to form gel in the separation funnel then it is called emulsion. To remove emulsion, add ethanol and shake again
Very nice and work helpfull
Thanks a lot
Sir i shall be thankful to u kindly send the testing method of fragrace purity
Sorry, we don't provide any document
Hello
Sir give me some information of NPN check in maize gluten please
Thanku..
We will make video for NPN later. Stay with us
Please make video 0.1 NAOH solution with Standardization
Alamin Lemon, we used commercial standard 0.1N NOH solution (ready made) in this test, that's why we didn't standardize our solution. In future, we will make video of a procedure for standardize different solutions including sodium hydroxide.
Thanks
You are welcome
while performing experiment everytime emulsion is formed in which step am doing mistake pls Guide
Please add extra ethanol to the emulsion and shake. The emulsion will be cleared out
After 14th wash no clear layer formed at top what will be the reason ?
Loss of hexan with emulsion during washing the extract.
Wash it more carefully
thanks
You're welcome!
Pls Guide can I use 0.5M ethanolic KOh instead of 0.5M Aqueous KOh
No. You can't
@@MicroChemsExperiments JazakAllah
what is the purity of the KOH pelltet?

Hi. Can I do with less than 2.5g of oil?
Yes. You can do
Sir please provide us "how to analys sugar percentage in crude"
I hope you upload the analys video of crude sugar percentage soon.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Noted. We will upload the test as early as possible. Thanks for being with us.
Note. We will work on it soon. Stay with us.

According to IS 548, nowhere they have used hexane. Why is this video using hexane?
Petroleum ether and hexane are very similar in chemical properties. You can use both
Great, thanks. I'll perform this experiment today and comment here if I have any doubts
