PLEASE ditch the loud music next time. I find that distracting. Just your narrative is enough.
An HOUR of book recommendations? Don't mind if I do. Thank you putting these holiday videos together year after year.
Haha, I know, I'm a bit embarrassed it's an hour long - I tried to make it shorter, I really did 😂
@@BeautifulBooks NEVER regret making long videos, I love your book videos so much, and I relish how long and packed with goodies they are. I'm off to watch this video with a whole pot of tea and a cozy wrap. It is such a treat!
@@priscilla.t.a 💕💕💕
@@BeautifulBooks The longer the better as far as I'm concerned!
This video is a chistmas present on its own
I've been eagerly awaiting this video. I was worried we wouldn't get a new vid this year so I hope everything is well and thank you so very much for your work. Wish you and every book lover (everyone else too) a great season!
Thank you so much - yes, sorry it is a bit late this year! Warmest seasons greetings to you too 💕
*adds five million books to the cart*
Thank you for all these recommendations! I'm on a book buying ban until 2022 because I accidentally splurged on a bunch of Georgette Heyer novels (oops) but I'm so excited to pick up these releases!! I especially love the Jackie Morris and the Lovecraft illustrated books, The Snow Queen pop-up book, and the Folio Society edition of The Meaning of Mice.
Haha, I’m forever putting myself on (completely ineffective) book buying bans… lovely choices 💕
Please do do a book dedicated to mythology! I collect mythology books so that would be amazing.
Ah, a collector after my own heart! 💕
I literally squealed with excitement when I saw this video had posted at last. Thank you so much for taking the time to make it! The very first book, the Little Mermaid one, is actually one I have owned for some time ever since I got it as part of my rewards for back its Kickstarter. The artwork is wonderful. I definitely would love a whole video of myth books! lol. I have been wanting to preorder the Medusa book (it hasn't come out yet here in the US), so it was really cool to get a preview of it here. I'll definitely be getting it. The Annotated Arabian Nights is a stunning work of art AND information. Definitely adding that to my shopping list. The Folio Society Howl's Moving Castle trilogy looks wonderful, and I'm making plans to slowly acquire the whole series.
As far as special editions I was able to get this year, I got quite a number of them, but most are not new releases. I did end up with two different editions of Addie LaRue, LOL, but I couldn't help myself. I also got the Adventure of the Christmas Pudding from HarperCollins, which is their latest addition to their special edition collection of Agatha Christie classics. One preorder I'm still waiting on but very excited about is A History of Wild Places, a maybe speculative mystery thriller that just came out this month. The story sounds like a perfect winter read to me, but I ran to preorder it when I saw an IG post by the author (@SheaErnshaw) announcing that all first printing copies would have a special hidden cover with a gold-foil stamped design. The design is intricate and beautiful (she posted a picture) and references the story in detail, but even more wonderfully, it contains a puzzle of sorts, which is so fun! If you decide to get it, definitely look up her post on IG to get all the cool details.
Oooh, I'll definitely be checking out A History of Wild Places, thank you! Bonus puzzles sounds amazing! I'm so glad the kickstarter for Little Mermaid was successful enough I was able to get a trade ed, because I didn't see it at the time - and the trade edition is really nice with cloth and silver stamped cover as well! I'd love to share my myth books (but I need to let the dining room table have some air for a bit first - it's been hidden under the Christmas pile for, er, quite some time!)
@@BeautifulBooks Oh I can relate to holiday detritus. I still have my Christmas decoration tubs piled in the living room after I finished putting up the tree. I did think the trade edition of the Little Mermaid looked beautiful, the cover is actually very similar to the Kickstarter edition (different design but still gold-stamped on cloth) which doesn't actually come with a dust jacket. But I did get a lot of goodies from stretch goals. I realized I wasn't signed up for your newsletter, and I have immediately corrected the error. I love your website!
This is my favorite video of the year! It's surprisingly hard to find resources and information for new (as opposed to antique) book collecting. I especially love the classics and would love to see more of those. Also, I would love to see how and where you display or store all these books! 😍 Thank you for all your hard work! 💙
Thank you so much 💕 I am actually working on a classics video! (And my shelves are loved and messy, not like most of the beautifully curated CZcams shelf tours 😂)
A full hour! 🤩 We've been blessed.
Aw, thank you! (I'm a bit embarrassed it ended up so long, but honestly I could have gone on for two hours 😂 )
I am so happy to see a new video!!! Like hearing from an old friend:) many many thanks!!!
Thank you! I feel the same way about comments 💕💕💕
A HOUR OMG
😬 I know, apparently I have no self control...
Thanks for a great video! I would love to see a deep dive video into your Myths and Legends book collection in the future, it's one of my favourite categories too.
Excellent 😀
I always look forward to your videos!! i love all the books.. Little women and the secret garden is one of my favorites of all times🥰
Thank you! 💕
It’s here!! Love these videos. Part of my holiday now! Thank you!
Aw, thank you 💕
I love these videos so much! As usual I’ve added more to my own Wishlist. You have already featured the books I’d found this year so I don’t have recommendations to add. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and happy reading!
I love your videos and I've been waiting your holiday guide with excitement!! It was so nice to see an hour-long video, I really appreciate the effort and the dedication. (Sorry for my English, love from Greece💕)
Thanks so much 💕 (and your English is excellent!)
Thank you for putting all this together for us!
So excited to watch this, I’ve got my cuppa ready! ☕️ Thank you for your videos and sharing your knowledge. 🎄
Thanks for watching 💕
So glad to see this pop up on my feed! What a luscious choice (and I love the music too!) Thank you for taking the time to put it together.
Thanks so much 💕
I was so excited for this video!!!! Thank you!!! Great recommendations!
You are so welcome! 💕
Hello Daisy, Merry Christmas!!! Hope you and your family are well and holding up during these Covid times. As usual here we are with the highlight of the year ... your wrap up of the beautiful books for 2021. Not even Covid can put a damper on our love of books. Thanks to you I've become more aware of the existence of special, glorious books and have become best friends with Waterstones and Goldsboro Books. Oh, by the way ... my husband would like a word with you ... ahem!! :) One of my most favourite books this year was Joanne M. Harris Honeycomb which features her magical, whimsical fairy stories gorgeously illustrated by Charles Vess. I got the Waterstones signed edition and it's stunning. I've been keeping up with all of the Mina Lima books which are so beautiful and the Marjolien Bastin classics of which I hope there will be more. I found the "autumn" edition of Anne of Green Gables (the laser cut) for cheap at a Winners store here in Canada and paid half the actual price for it!! I grabbed it, paid for it and ran! Thank you for doing this video for your loyal fans. It must have been so much work but is so appreciated. Take care Daisy!
Merry Christmas to you too! I can’t believe I forgot to add Honeycomb to the list - you’re right it’s just lovely 💕 (And the moths that are all that’s left of my wallet apologise most sincerely to your bank account 😂)
Ohh, sigh..the book cover for "Cinderella " takes my imagination back to my childhood.!
So beautiful. lovely video my tbr for 2022 is sorted.
Always love your vids! Beautiful books of course but you’re just so pleasing to listen too.
Thanks, that's so sweet of you 💕
So excited for this video! As other commentators have mentioned, thank you so much for all this work! 😍
Watching ur videos gives me joy and sorrow at the same. I live in a country where this books don’t release. And if anyone want to bring by courier, cost is too high to kill the urge to buy.
Thnks for the video though.
I’m so sorry to hear that, I hope at least some of them are available some day!
Beautiful!😍 I've started collecting the Megan Hess books, I'm obsessed with her and she's from my home town Melbourne (I'm in the US now) I love supporting Aussies
Ohhh! i wish i had this as a reference earlier - there are so many titles that would top the ones i ended up picking as Christmas gifts! i am really happy that i have it now because i will be spoiled for choice for birthdays and special occasions going forward! The best book i bought this year (although it was released in 2020) is "The Flapper Queens: Women Cartoonists Of The Jazz Age " by Eisner award-winning Trina Robbins - it is such a cool book! i bought it for myself as a reference and inspiration for artwork!
That sounds interesting, I’ll have to check it out 😀
That was a blesing thank you.
Yes!! Show more about myths and mythology. Thank you for a beautiful video.
This is a fantastic video! I'm new to your channel, I stumbled onto it when I was researching different editions for the classics. I haven't read many but I really want to start.
There are definitely some books in here that I want to check out and never would have heard of if it wasn't for you. Thank you so much for sharing with us!
Oooh, I'm working on a classics video right now actually! I'll have to update you when it's out 😃 In the meantime, I've reviewed quite a few really nice classics series on my website as well if that's helpful: beautifulbooks.info/illustratedbibliographies/classic-fiction/
Thank you so much! Such lovely books!
Why I didn't know this channel existed 😭🙏🏼
This is always my favorite videos of the year ♥️
Thank you 💕
Thx for this inspiring video; i immediately ordered some of your recommendations. :-)
Sorry I didn’t see your comment earlier - thanks for the kind words and hope you are enjoying the ones you bought! 💕
Yay! I love your reviews and have been waiting since youe last video. 😍
Thank you 💕
I just happen to come across this video, so 1st time viewer.
Thankyou for showing these books.
I particularly love fairies and cute character books.
I am a fan of the story little women.
But l do love beautiful illustrations of fantasy creatures.
Thankyou for sharing your favorite books.
I will look forward to watching more of your videos when they are put out.
Thank you! I too love fantasy and fairy books - you might like check out my “wizard’s library” and Charles van Sandwyk videos which showcase some of my favorites!
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS SO EAGERLY!!!! Thank you!!!!
Aw, thank you!
@@BeautifulBooks Love your videos!
I’m especially interested in classic fiction and poetry, letters, mythology.
One edition I wanted to recommend - the Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, from Penguin Classics Hardback, though the edition is unlike any other I’ve seen from penguin. It’s printed in blue ink, with illustrations in same blue. It has turquoise metallic sprayed edges and copper foiling(embossing?) on the cover. For it’s beauty it’s cheap (< 15€).
Can’t wait for the Beehive edition of the Great Gatsby!
Please please do a video on your heritage collection. I’m trying to decide if I want to start collecting these.
An absolutely beautiful CZcams video!
I do have a few of the books on this list but there were a number that were new to me so thank you!
A couple more beautiful novels I've bought this year include Ariadne by Jennifer Saint (UK edition), and the third Starfell middle grade novel by Dominique Valente (UK again, the hidden cover is stunning).
Oh yes, the UK cover for Ariadne is just gorgeous (did you see the Waterstones special white and gold version? tidd.ly/3IHL8ks), and I love the Starfell hidden covers too 💕
@@BeautifulBooks I have seen the Waterstones one and it's lovely, but I personally prefer the original!
Finally! A new video.
I love your videos!
Very nice (and full of tempting ideas) as always!
There’s a children’s book that I think we’ll see soon in your channel: the new colour edition of the 13 Storey Treehouse. I’ve been wanting to get it but it seems it’s only available in Australia .
Thanks - I didn't know the colour edition was limited to Australia!
Happy new year! I have been in agony about supporting Book Depository since I realised Amazon owns that too. But as a fellow Southern Hemisphere-ian they have been the most affordable as you know. Would you happen to have any suggestions of alternative sites owned by more ethical companies which may serve those of us at the bottom of the world as equally or near as equally as what we seem to be currently stuck with? BEAUTIFUL books! As always!
Hi! Sorry I missed your comment earlier! Yes, it’s always a struggle here in Oz. Booktopia are Australian owned, but have really struggled with delivery during the pandemic - so are good if you don’t have a deadline. Boomerang is also Aussie owned and often have quite good prices, but again slow shipping. I try to order from local bookstores when I can, but there are not so many left still running near where I am. So I end up with Amazon/Book Depository quite often just for availability (and it is crazy to me I can order a book and have it shipped to me from the UK for faster and cheaper than a local online store). Always open to new suggestions though!
You do realise I would need to sell my house to buy these stunning but very expensive books. So manny good gift ideas/ thanks!
I very much enjoyed this video!! Thank you!
The beginning had some text about howls moving castle, is that book in this video? Cant find it
Yes, it’s the very last book in the video (Folio Society edition)
What a wonderful guide!
Do you own the Illuminated Edition of Crime and Punishment? I would love for you to include it in your next video on the series! :)
Thanks! Yes I do - I’m hoping to show all of them in a review video soon. They’re really special - but huuuuuuge!
@@BeautifulBooks Yay, can’t wait!
Nice
Here it is, the video highlight of the bibliophile's year.
Haha, thank you 💕
Can I make a suggestion? Have a look at the books illustrated by Carl Cneut they are really amazing! For instance the witchfairy
ohhh, thanks, that looks delightful!
ohhh, on the "biography/fairytale retelling there's also 2 other books that came out a decade ago and both are illustrated by their respective subject: one, Sleeping Beauty by Christian Lacroix, and the other The Elves and the Shoemaker by Manolo Blahnik
Oh, fantastic, thank you! 💕
will you make videos of Beatrix Potter , Rumer Godden 😊
Please please share separate video on annotated Arabian nights
I actually have a lot of interesting annotated volumes - maybe I need to start a series … 🧐
Sweetest book reviewer
