True but they, (PowerNation) also half-ass alot of stuff, They are going to lower a truck but not at bare minimum hit the rest of the front suspension with a wire brush and rattle can black? They are going to c-notch the frame in the rear and not atleast clean it and rattle can it and clean up the rear end and not rattle can it? Noone who spends all this time and money is going to not atleast clean it and rattle can it, no mechanic worth his salt is going to half-ass it and bolt brand new shit up to rusty and corroded parts. I'm not saying do a frame off restoration but atleast rattle can the parts you can get to and make it look better and it's only going to cost you a cans of cheap basic bitch black Restoluem spray paint. they're $6 a can at Wal-mart.... If your just bolting new stuff up to stuff that looks like it was recovered from the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean and not atleast cleaning it off and rattle canning it your doing a half ass job. I mean your already there and it's already off..... do a good job and clean and paint it.

I’d love it if you would do some programs on wiring. STuff like:
    • How to lay out and wrap a wire harness in a way you won’t regret
    • How to plan wire routes so they look good, don’t get in the way, are adequately protected, but also serviceable should the need arise
    • How to keep track of the wiring changes you’ve made
    • How to select high quality connectors
    • How to attach harnesses to various surfaces in an elegant way
    • How to match connectors to conditions, wet service, dry service, etc.
    • How to wire a complicated connector in a professional way
    • What to do with pre-made harnesses that are too long …or too short
    • How to make a crimp connection that doesn’t look awful
So many of the aftermarket parts you guys install on your shows are beautiful. A guy like me installs those beautiful pieces, then feels guilty about the awful wiring that goes around them. Even something as simple as a fog light installation or stereo upgrade yields an ugly rat’s nest of awkward crimp connectors. Surely there is a better way.

even the same model car/truck will be different depending on what accessories you have...its one of the hardest jobs but if you take your time and buy that plastic wire loom stuff you can take wires back out again. never use any tape, wiring nuts or zip ties and you will be fine (zip ties have a 5 year life expectancy ) and its great if you have the old wiring harness and or at least a wiring diagram

    • @clayon89
      @clayon89 Před 4 lety

One tip i picked up is you can chuck a few wires in a drill and twist wires together makes them hold shape and keeps everything tight. Also if your looking at connectors and you thibk they are pricey for what they are those are the ones to buy. Never ever cheap out on connector or wire

If you're going to take the time to pull the spindles, you might as well change the ball joints, especially drop spindles are going to put a little bit more pressure on the ball joint now.

and while your there you might as well hit it with a wire brush and some basic bitch rustoleum black rattle can paint...... I mean noone is going to spend all that money to lower a truck and do all that work just to bolt new shiny to old and rusty.... You don't have to do a complete frame off but atleast do what you can get to, There's absolutely NO reason not to clean and paint the frnt suspension when it's already taken apart and the rear end and drive shaft when they are already out of the truck and the rear frame while the bed is already off.

My uncle bought it, and drove it from Louisiana to California to give to his son for his 16th birthday and drove it alongside his 98' dodge pickup with a 5.9L magnum, he said him and his friend driving his truck would line them both up, and the chevy would smoke the dodge every time, and get better gas mileage. His ex wife didnt want his son to have it though and sold it to some mexican fellas for $1500 not long after. Never heard from the truck again. Im sure its still running around the san bernardino/socal area somewhere. Had a black primered passenger fender.

I liked the wheels that were on it more than the new ones, Ya'll need to do a show how to redo a set of factory chrome/custom wheels that has lost their shine, Imagine how good those wheels would look if they were cleaned sandblasted and repainted silver or blacked out. I love these "were going to show you how to build a vehicle on a budget" then you throw a set of $5000 wheels on it.... The Overwhelming majority of us viewers aren't going to do that, Were going to clean-up and redo what we got or were going to jump on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist and find some used wheels and redo them for $30 instead of spending $5000 on new wheels. Ya'll also need to learn what a wire brush, rubbing alcohol and can of black spray paint is... Ya'll keep bolting up new and shiny to old and rusty... the front suspension was already taken apart, the bed was already off the frame and the rear end and drive shaft were already out of the truck, wire brush it hit it with some rubbing alcohol and then rattle can it, I'm not saying do a frame off but atleast clean and repaint what you can get too. Ya'll do some cool vehicles and give us alot of good tips and how too's but you stop short on alot of it too.

Are these newly filmed episodes? I know the Trucks! episodes are old, not sure about these. Anyway, great looking OBS, and even better because if the two tone color.

I always wandered if there's a specific purpose to lowering that people have in mind besides funky looks and possibly getting stuck on larger speed bumps? I can see a little lower for handling for street only use but why have a truck? Guess I'd rather have the useful clearance myself. Leveling the rear looks good and still leaves one half useful. Guess I've just never really understood real low drops.

Agree. 2" of drop is plenty. Looks better, more aerodynamic, easier ingress and egress. Less likely to bottom out and can still be used as a truck.
