The Rarest, Coolest, and Most Expensive PS2's EVER.

- We've gone over some very cool PS3's, some rare PS4's, but it's time we take a look at the king. That's right, the PlayStation 2. There wasn't nearly as many arbitrary bundles for PS2 as modern consoles but there were still a lot of very cool color options in Japan. And it could cost up to a cool $10K if you wanted a full set of the rarest ones. Take a look, and awe at the beauty of them, because that's what I sure did.

Only Og’s remember when you turned on the ps2 and the intro scared the sh*t outta you
Especially at night when at full volume. That wakes up everyone in the entire house.
Alexander Becker Or when you got the red screen of death, creepy as jungle sounds in the background and hell red color
I remember i used to get goosebumps! Lol 😆 the memories
I seriously don't get it - I've always *loved* the PS2's startup sound even since the very first time I had one when as a kid in 2001. I would turn up the volume just to hear it, loved the 'Sci-Finess' of it. Though I do prefer the PS1 more.
I never got scared of it though... unlike every other commenter on YT seems to have been. Blows my mind.
@@Alex-mb2cy it can wake up the entire neighborhood
Retail stores were still selling brand new slim PS2's in 2013. I was nearly tempted to pick one up after my phat PS2's drive gave out.
i bought mine in 2011 new in box sealed
I bought one from a retail store for $20 in like 2012
@Confessions Of A Movie Freak because I hate Slim PS2's to be completely honest. However, I did pick up a new controller that day. Their quality dropped drastically. It's on the same level as an unbranded knock off.
@Seth Wellington it was also $99 which was overpriced at the time (and still is tbch).
@Seth Wellington they were 9000x's though. At the time you couldn't use free mcboot on them. You probably can now, but it didn't matter to me back in 2013. I love original PS2 hardware, but PCSX2 has advanced so much that I would rather do upscaled emulation.
I wish Sony would let PS4 play PS2 discs. It kinda pisses me off that it doesn’t, as there’s already a PS2 emulator built into the operating system.
You can enable it with homebrew
Sebacrush care to elaborate
@@cjpreston136
Like i said. You need Homebrew. Jailbroken PS4
Sebacrush damn what a deal, trade my online gaming for ps2 games..... not today my friend but maybe one day
@@meetdamaka just get a second PS4 (Pro) for online and a normal PS4 for homebrew, emulators, cheating, modding and a bunch of other stuff.
I have my PS2 for over 11 years by now. Still playing. Honestly the golden era of gaming
Na 360 was golden era
@@JobblyBobblybahahaha u mean the ps3 Era and no ps2 Era is goated period
@@JobblyBobbly🧢 360 wasn’t all that ps2 was better
One thing. I have an ps2 a Grey one with an build in screen U can open like an laptop but I can't find it anywhere on the internet it's like I have an version nobody knows?
Bro! I'm recently bought the Red Slim.
It's not a Japan only console, it was also released in Latin America. It's pretty common, because it is the last model of the PS2 (9000 series)
I have one too! I also made my original black ps2 transparent
Bacon Hair my cousin had a lime green ps2 9000 series and it was one of a kind !!
I'm from Chile and the most common ps2 variation here is the silver one. I got lucky and I found on ebay the ceramic white ps2 slim and I paid 60 dollars for it because it was marked as "broken". When I tested it, it worked at 100% without problems.
Here in Chile trying to find the ceramic white and red variations is almost an odyssey, and If you're lucky finding it, you won't buy it cheap
I had this one back then, common on the hacked PS2 scene in Malaysia, aside black and silver. Unfortunately my uncle have burned that PS2 down cause its beyond unrepairable
This is like buying a car based on color.
Your name 😂😂😂
You must not be a car guy because yes we do shit like that LOL
Only if every car was the same because in the video every PlayStation is the same come on I’m a get on you for some you said a year ago
Yeah)
My ex-girlfriend when i ask "what car do you want?" always said "the red one".
Sorry for my bad english
Terrible analogy
I don't know but i think you like the blue color
Whenever people make these videos the prices go up due to demand and scalpers 😭
Man that auto blue one! That’s probably my favorite, other than the translucent ones. Great video bro!
Great to as another awesome PlayStation video from you, Mystic.
I have several PS2’s in black, silver, and the white Singstar bundle in its original box-but definitely nothing as rare as these.
I was wanting to look into buying a japanese PS2
and I think the clear Ocean Blue is just for me
aaaaaaa
Go for it, try buy one that was used the least
I found 2 ocean blue controllers at my house and I thought it was a common thing, now looking at this video makes me feel lucky ;-;
That *gold* ps2 looks nice.
This video is amazing and so is your set up, well done !!
Waiting for (I bought a 100 game consoles on eBay)
Edit: thanks for the likes y'all (:
meteb 020 I don’t know about you but I’m waiting for “I bought 100 random consoles on eBay”.
The Aqua Blue PS2 was available on Europe too for a limited quantity
that's the one I had (UK)
Matching memory card and P1 Dualshock also
I live in Europe (Poland)
I still have my original black ps2 ( still works)..not the slim. Bought that during the first year of its release. Looking at my ps2 game saves on my memory cards and the dates they were saved recently....the nostalgia😢. Miss those days. Hopefully the ps5 will follow thru with backwards compatibility.
My fat PS2 is from, I think, 2003? This upcoming generation might be the very first time I plan to be among early adopters. Having been unimpressed with Gen 8, I have real high hopes for the rumoured major improvements this time.
@Dr.smoky420 999Army im just referring to the time period when games were complete, have booklets, artwork and gaming still in its infancy. Just the time period overall. I have "days gone" as well. Awesome game. I still go back and forth between my ps2, ps3, psvita and ps1 games i own and play on the old consoles.
@Dr.smoky420 999Army i started gaming during the nes era...late 80's as well. Never owned any other systems before the nes. Later on i my prefer consoles were Sega and the Playstaion
i wish i hadn't sold my ps2 back then. Had so many savegames
same here, I just recently got another ps2 and have my old memory cards... all the memories came flooding back 😭
Theres also a solid sky blue one, in Japan of course, Called 'Toys Blue' or something as its Toys R Us exclusive, it was bundled with Ratchet and Clank
Great Video man !!
Very Informative.
thats interesting because a lot of these in the UK are just normal pricing which is around $50-$60
and the PS2 bravia TV was only sold in the UK
Great video dude. 👏👏👏
Glad I got a US Automobile Yellow when it was out. It has low hours, a Matrix Infinity modchip and a controller that was never used (I was inti wireless controllers. ) Wish I got all of them when I had the chance
Nice guide,man!)
Nice video.
Can you make 50 facts video about the ps3?
Loving the series
i love the white and silver versions so cool looking
I love how those samsung TV models like the KS7000 burn on the bottom.
These TV’s don’t burn at all. It’s the LED Backlight at the bottom that just shows up more on Camera.
I remember seeing a Bravia ps2 in a tech store (Mediamarkt) about 8-9 years ago. I thought it was super cool at the time. I had almost forgotten about it!
Anyone from ireland might remember back in the day when they had listed the ps2 with mulitple colours in a world of wonder book for xmas .
0:00 sound like dough demuro
I have a PS2 TEST unit, which is even more rare than all of these given they were only sent to developers and never released to the general public.
Great video!!!
That Metallic Silver PS2 was SO sleek that I just bought a Japanese version AND an American motherboard since I’m in the states. I’ve done a successful motherboard swap on a 39001 that had a totally corrupted video output, that silver one is the 39000, so it’s the exact same job to get this beautiful console to play my library 😎💯
Yo Ryan, it would be awesome if you brought back video game teacher or Ryan on Gaming. But just a thought, keep doing your thing man!
The colors of the Automotive Edition PS2 are real car colors. The blue one is painted in BMW Avusblau Metallic, the red one is BMW Imola Red 2, the yellow one is BMW Dakaryellow 2 or Mercedes Yellowstone Metallic, white one is BMW Alpinwhite 2 and the silver one is a Mercedes color.
adding a chip can make a locked console work but a better option is to gut it and replace it with a console from your region you can store the removed console in a anti static bag safely tell you sell the unit or as a option down the road if you get a collection of Japanese only games
The Sony PlayStation 2 had many wonderful different colored and themed consoles. I think the Sakura pink looked amazing. The Sony Bravia PlayStation 2 television reminds me of those Nintendo themed televisions. I love how Sony and Nintendo made televisions that also played their games. The PlayStation 2 Automobile editions look amazing. Cool video. ^_^
I remember having the silver...loved it! 1st in the family to have PS1 and PS2.... NOSTALGIA....91....
I have the Aqua Blue fat Ps2 that I bought myself when it was new.
Very cool to think I still have it as it’s a nice collection item.
I only have one aqua blue controller with my other being a standard black duelshock 2
I love when mystic post lol, Most original content I’ve seen.
Yep, that aqua blue edition looks sick.
1:50 I do have a working pink ps2 now in 2021. Still plug into my early LCD flat and still works. My ex gf gave it to me long time ago, it was once belonged to her brother.
Depending on the internals I cant imagine itd be that difficult to put a one of those Japanese only shells on an NTSC PS2
Not hard at all
I just bought one from a guy on eBay who did just that xD The thing is mint, cleaned inside and out.
Your shirt says 无谋,which means "can't make good strategies", it's the last half of a Chinese traditional saying 有勇无谋, which describes someone as brave, but isn't intelligent...
Or perhaps he has the Japanese versioin of the word "mubō (無謀)", meaning "reckless". ejje.weblio.jp/content/%E7%84%A1%E8%AC%80
@@makotito73 It means the same in Chinese as well
It looks so hard to translate different languages especially when both languages have different characters like the Latin alphabet, how do you do it? Massive respect for anyone who translates those languages. I can only speak Spanish and English, that's pretty easy as both languages use the latin alphabet.
AviCul o well i can’t speak for japanese or chinese but i can speak for russian. i’m an american person and i know a little bit of russian. basically you just learn the alphabet on its own, then the words
@@bimmer8602 with something like English to Japanese, you're not really translating the characters; you're translating the sentiment
That's why device instruction manuals are so consistently hilarious.. direct translations (translating characters) isn't very accurate
I’m from Italy and I have the Sony Bravia PS2! It was in many stores lol
Hmm, I don’t recall ever seeing the Ceramic White PStwo here in the US. Maybe it was a GameStop exclusive?
Anyway, my Japanese Ceramic White PStwo is my pride and joy. Purchased new back in the day when it released, I also bought the matching Ceramic White vertical stand, second controller, and memory card.
this grinds my gears i totally remember opening my Christmas present when i was a kid and my parents had bought me the yellow ps2 20million edition and i was so happy haha but i also remember throwing it away a few years ago fml
Matt Rye did you live in Japan? It was a Japanese exclusive
Lol you were stupid
1:18 I had that one till the memory card slots started getting faulty and I traded it in for a fat PS2 6 years ago
Managed to haggle a pink PS2 slim with controller and memory card (no box) down to £65 at a retro games market I went to yesterday, best purchase of the day I think.
My 2 ps2 consoles are pink slim and aqua blue models. Both are boxed and both still work fine to this day. My Mortal Kombat Armageddon death trap videos are played on the pink model :)
I love that power blue one...I’d honestly just get mine painted instead of pay the extra lol
Persona 5 highlighted in your ps4, a man of culture
He has dreams too. Such a man of culture indeed
Persona is so gay
@@skaared02 no u
@@skaared02 What game do you play, if any? Fortnite? Lmao
@@unfathomedfears2.wh0a19 I remember playing on the ps2 one of the Persona games and you shoot yourself in head with pistol to go all persona mode or something like that and it was the shittiest thing ever.
If I remember right, that gold PS2 came with network adapter since the Gundam game it bundled with has some online capability.
A locally owned game shop in my town actually had the Automotive Light Yellow it was there forever until recently good come up to whoever got it
Now all we need is one for all rarest, coolest and most expensive PSP models!
And PSVITA.
Pink PS2 is literally the coolest thing ever
Osh They are quite cheap in Norway. $60 to $100 depending on the seller. Most people just want to get rid.
@@thunderbird7780 I was one of them. Just sold mine.
fun fact. in Germany e.g. the pink ps2 slim was the cheapest of all because nobody wanted it except for a few girls / women ^^
You could even swap the pink for a black older version. But you even had to pay for it or add games.
The pink ones were also available in electronics stores for less than € 100 and the black one cost over 100.
I have the classic black PS2, and happy with it!
Love my PS2 automotive edition in yellow. Some cool consoles in this list.
I remember the Sony tv/ps2 combo. I saw a couple of them at a local game store in alabama
I only collect fat PS2 consoles and my collection includes
-Metallic Silver, Sakura Pink & Aqua Blue
-Automobile Color Collection Snow White & Light Yellow
-Ocean Blue & Midnight Blue
-PSX 5000 & 7700 (5k is chipped)
My main unit is another Midnight Blue with a 2TB drive in it and the 5K PSX boots directly to PS2 with a 750GB drive in it.
I had a Fernando Alonso World Champion 2005 ps2, I dont know if it was only released in spain, it had Renault and Alonso stickers.
Have you ever seen the PS2 fat version in white, really square, black ports and disc eject portion too, with no decals? I'm thinking about buying one that I found
I have a metalic silver PS2 FAT, the paint look nice but is so easy to scratch and it is only one thin layer of paint. I am thinking in painting it again
Never knew about the Sakura pink one somehow. I always thought that black and silver were the two most common colors.
Honestly, the PlayStation 2, well, any PlayStation system looks fantastic in silver (and white, the colors of the PlayStation logo really pop with the silver/white), and I really wish we got our PlayStation 2 in silver, but I don't think they made a SCPH-75001 model in silver, I mostly see silver consoles that are either 77001 or 79001.
There was a full size white ps2 made for the USA region but it was a us playstation magazine contest prize. I can't remember how many they gave away but I think it might have only been 5 units.
I can remember my sister having the pink PS2 slim (I had a fat PS2), it was a singstar bundle in conjunction with a UK TV programme called Popworld (I'm British and live in the UK) and as result, I'm not sure if it released outside of the UK and Ireland
Those automotive “PlayStation 2”looking Nice and the blue and purple glossy in the beginning to.If I won a lot of money in a lottery I might pick some up🤗
DUDE THAT TV/PS2 IS AWESOME
Hey mate, quick Q: What camera do you film with? Looks beautiful
I have the white sing star super slim one. Love that bad boy! Still in mint condition
Have A memory turning on my Playstation 2 at 3 in the morning when my family was asleep and the sound on the TV was on, I almost shit myself and my entire family of 7 were all awake, dad took it away for 2 weeks.
I remember having a transparent ps2, wasn’t blue or the black but it was a grey plastic that was see through
Talked about the sliver and white PS2 Slim being easy to come across.
I don't remember seeing any white PS2 systems, back when growing up with the system.
Oh, I actually own Aqua Blue PS2 fat. I managed to get it for like 15 euros locally. Without controller and memory card unfortunately, but I really don't care, because the console itself is very beautiful.
That metallic pink one for the Fat PS2 is great. Really wish the US got some of these exclusives. I love my fat PS2.
I'll spend $5 on a can of spray paint and do my own.
GaggleTheGameScat facts
good luck not touching the ps2 logo
@john locke yeah, but how do you paint around the logo after? you're gonna have to break out the paintbrushes.
@john locke Its going to look like shit. You want to call someone a child call the person with a fucking spray canned Ps2 up on their shelf one.
@john locke factory looks no where near diy's
PS2 metalic silver was my first console, those memories.
I've got a very early original black ps2 and a 50 million silver console and the funny thing I don't know much about the variations but probably 2 years between them and the silver ps2 disc reader is quicker by a fair amount, I only noticed it a few years back when I got them down from my attic and tested them and realised the newer silver phat was quicker
I had one my grandma won me in a raffle in early 2000. Unfortunately console was stole t from me, but I still have the yellow tray to prove I had it.
What if you had a Japanese limited edition and a regular one for your region. Then swap the casing or are collector's cursing me right now
Believe I saw the yellow one as a price once at a arcade, like 100 000 tickets or something.
And I bought a Toys Blue system from Japan, what I could find was that they only made 5000.
All of them are incredible! Mine are just plain black.
I had a custom painted white fat PS2 that I ordered from Sony. There were other colors available also, but I forget what they were. You had to pay around $100.00 extra and I waited 3 weeks for it.
I have the aqua blue and it's still original and brand new
I have a silver PS2 slim that I been having since I was 4 years old
Who has a PS2 in 2019 ? Mine is 15 years old and still works fine ! I'm planning to play Xenosaga Episode 1 soon.
Still have and even use it sometimes, games still look amazing with a component cable!
Grey color looks amazing on the Fat PS2
Dude those bapesta’s are such a flex
I have the pink one with 2 remotes and a pink bag. Bought it off a guy who didn’t know it’s worth. Got it for 40 pounds. No scratches. The memory card door flap broke. I’m trying to get another one to replace it. But it’s awesome
I actually own a KDL22PX300 (and a pink slim for what its worth). It is by default optimized for component and deliveres a awesome picture. You forgot (?) to mention the PSX: a Jap. Only PS2 with DVR functionality and the Sony XMB.
I really liked this video I was interested in learning about some of the different ps2 bc I bought a lot today 2 ps2 slims 1 black 1 white and never seen a white ps2 slim but for $40 2 systems 5 games and a demo disk I couldn't pass on that
Only have the black fat version, happy with it!
Sliver & Pink PS2 is 😍😍😍
I recently found a pink ps2 and memory card dumpster diving , i couldnt believe it
AbodyAbdalluh They are quite cheap in Norway. $60 to $100 depending on the seller. Most people just want to get rid.
I am loving that PS2 Slim Color Pink. I Have A PS2 Slim But it Color Silver.
I own a og PlayStation 2 but it came with the transparent blue controller when I bought it used
over here in europe thrift stores and eBay are full of pink PS2 slim's, in my area they are even more common than the silver one!
I feel lucky owning a yellow version of the ps2.
Just let it age like cheese and the value skyrockets.
Is it japan only?
Now I have 2 common PS2 models
PS2 phat and slim models black
I bought the slim just to play marvel vs capcom 2 totally worth it
And my phat model wouldn’t play it but that one still works, had it since childhood
I got the same PS light, except i have the square one, like the love park sign
