@@njengaalex I couldn't afford ps2 so I installed an emulation and scalled it to native 4x which is 1440p and added a buncha shaders. It looks better but it doesn't give me the same feeling of owning and playing on a ps2
That generation of gaming has aged very well :)
I just bought some games off ebay recently, had my PS2 since Dec 2004. Games are still great to play. Not to mention games like REZ, Gradious V, GoW, Shadow of the C and others and hidden gem games too.

@Sean Mondout umm ahahah it doesnt mean i branched out to pc gaming, xbox, or even mobile gaming? Gaming is general my friend, across all genres and platforms, the first 2 playstations (and the PSP) simply got me into the concept of gaming. :)

i have some rare games, comand and conquer red alert from 1998, freak out, a very strang game that one,adrenalin mountain bike, ea sports olympics, that one physical thrashes you, you gota press buttons very rapidly and have good timing expecialy in hurdles and weight lifting

The PS2 is the only "newest" console that I ever played to this day. I remember waiting in line with my friend for 3 days just to get one. The store only had 10 at release. Security gave us a token to make sure that we got ours but we had to camp out. It was a pretty fun time.
Fun fact: PS2's can last for a long ass time. My dad gave me his PlayStation 2 that he bought (somewhere around 2001-2003), and the thing still works perfectly. Only problem is that the disc tray is worn out, like sometimes it just stops moving and I either have to gently move it with my hand, or power on and off the console to force it to close.
The towers being connected with the amount of save games blows mind. Played on the PS2 forever and never new!

You think $400 for a PS2 is expensive? Well, in Croatia the PS2 price was around $800 - 900 and games cost around $80.

Also, almost nobody played original games, only pirated ones. It was super easy to modify the console, buy already modified consoles and get pirated games. People bought it as an more affordable DVD player and played games on it very cheaply. It was literally everywhere. So many fond memories.

I still remember the Christmas that my parents got my 2 older brothers & I our ps2 slim.
We didn't have a memory card so we always used to leave it on so our progress wasnt lost 😂
So true lol :D And I can already imagine how hot had the console became next day after the sleep :D
My sister chewed on the memory cards they cracked and got water damage.

PS2 still the best, and I doubt it'll be overcome. Amazing games, great AAA titles, but most important, great AA titles, something very difficult to see nowadays. Today we have some rare AAA and a lot of indies

I grew up playing the PS2, all those years ago i never thought I'd be here right now watching a video like this. Feels like i was a part of history.
I know I certainly contributed to those impressive sales numbers. My father got really into the idea of modding consoles at the time and he ended up breaking about 5 PS2's.

Another great feature (or exploit to be correct) is the old fat PS2 can be soft modded to run a hard disk internally with the network adaptor. Then you can play .iso files that have been loaded onto that hard drive.

I always think of God Hand when I think of the PS2. One of my best games ever. It's totally underrated and wasn't treated fairly.

I love how you play the battle theme in Final Fantasy X. My favorite Final Fantasy game and the game that introduce me to the series and Tidus remains as my favorite rpg protagonist of all time
Generation 6 of video game consoles, probably the best gen till date. I owned the PS2, Dreamcast, Xbox and GameCube. They all have their own unique and great games. Gran Turismo 3 A spec, Final Fantasy X, God of War and many more are in my list of favorite PS2 games. It was the holy grail from Sony with sales over 155 million consoles. Impressive.

I had a slim silver PS2 back in the day. I gave it to my little cousins when I moved out and got married. Nostalgia kicked in few months ago and I was lucky enough to find and buy a brand new one PS2. Only in black this time.

Interesting PS1 fact, King's Field II (JP), known in the USA as just King's Field, was completely seamless back in 1995. For some reason Guinness lists Jak and Daxter as the first unbroken 3D world, but KFII technically allowed you to go anywhere you saw fit and did not have a load screen after initial start up.
You need to dive into Dr. Richard Marks in a video. His contributions for consumer grade peripherals are amazing.

PS2 rocks when the variety of great games were at their peek. Now all the games are the same no variety remakes.
PS2 got me into gaming. Right now gaming consoles are nice but, never would have gotten into gaming with game selection of 2019.

I've owned my Slimline ps2 for many years it still works fine and they have the most unique addictive games out there the reason I love the ps2 and ps3 is no internet bill required I refuse to buy the new generation consoles because the games are expensive and require a internet bill

There's way too many great games to list but my all time favourite was The Warriors, when I saved up and bought a copy home me and my friends sat around playing it for 6 hours straight just amazed at the sheer violence and combos you could inflict. Looking back I'm surprised our nanny government didn't ban it like they did with Manhunt and the original GTA: San Andreas with the coffee mod.

Budokai Tenkeichi 2 is still my favorite DB fighting game. Haven't been able to find it since I got rid of it as a kid. Fucking loves that game
PSX (ps1) was literally being in heaven, PS2 was my most unmemorable one despite being the most successful, PS3 was great with a great competitor (360), PS4 is the best thing that came since the ps1.. with no competitors.
Anyway, if in some time era owning another additional console had meanings, owning a PlayStation is just ever mandatory for any serious gamer..

The best console of all time. Sold 160 M units worldwide and had more than 4k game titles. I bought my ps2 slim in january 2005 and is still working after 15 years! amazing!
Ps2 was the greatest console for it's time.
Well from a technical perspective, it was defeated by the GameCube and Xbox. "Greatest console for its time" implies to me that it was the best platform to build games on, which it wasn't, it was the most difficult to program for and it just happened to get the most games because it was the most popular due to being the successor to the amazing Ps1. As a result, it has the greatest library of all-time which to me was a bit of a missed opportunity.
