Especially for guitar, bass and other players who need their hands to play an instrument. This 3 part video explains how to configure the Boss RC-505 so it can be controlled via a FCB1010 Midi controller.
Each of the 5 channels will get a Rec-Overdub - play button and an undo but other configurations are possible.

The FCB1010 is equiped with a UNO chip because StompBox mode is required. You can get more info on this on www.fcb1010.eu

This is so extremely helpful. I have been looking for a solution to operate the RC505 Loop station with my feet as I am playing guitar. I also have the Boss FS-6 Foot switch but as you said it doesn't let you operate all 5 channels of the Boss RC505. And then I found this video. You described it sooo well step for step thank you so much for sharing! I really appreciate your effort!

Yes, that should be possible. In my setup they are not used.
Good boy! Can I program the FCB 1010 in the same way even if I have replaced the original chip with the dedicated BOSS RC-505 chip?

Have an extra question (I've got the Uno) : from the pedal 1 to 5, it's okay to configure the momentary mode (the led is on when pushing, and led off when release), but for the pedal 6 to 10, the led is still ON and i can't find how to set them like the 1 to 5. I understand it's a different configuration, but i can't find it.
Do you think it's because it's not possible ?

Is it possible to erase/start over on a track. I see record play overdub demonstrated. But not clear.

Have you, and is it possible to config the FCB1010 buttons to use say loop 1 @ 2, and the other buttons to activate (on/off) the 3 input fx channels?

I bought the FCB1010 to expand my control ability and the last 2 days i have been troubleshooting (emphasis on trouble!!!!) on how to sync parameters and your videos appearead in my search like moses parting the red sea lol. Thank you so much!!!!! I also started with the boss fs-6 but wanted to expand. Seriously you have helped me so much!!!! Keep on keeping on brother!!!!! Do you have any advice with live looping and Ableton?
i was able to do this without an UnO chip install. Unless newer models come with it or some other config. I would love to talk to anyone bout it.

Can I change the midi channels for various presets with the UNO chip? I know the midi channels for the fcb101 is set globally, but I want to assign different midi channels to various presets on the fcb1010.

Now! im interested in this midi set up: Send signal from fcb1010 to-> bossrc 505 to-> audio interface .
So i want to recive singnal from the fcb1010 in to the audio interface passing through the loop.
so the fcb1010 signal must to go out from the bossrc505 midi out to the midi in of my audio interface.
all the midi phsical conextions are ok and plugd but someting in the configuration of the loop must be changed do you know someting about???

You would either need more foot-switches (FCB1010 only has 10) or change banks to access next lot of 10 CC#'s

Great video. I have the FCB and love it. I have both the UnO chip and the software to set it. Good to know the manual way to set the FCB, but I think I can figure it out with the computer. I was a little confussed when you went to use the foot switch it seems like the 5th track responded differently than 1 thru 4
Yes, something went wrong there. Couldn’t reproduce it so I left is as it was.

Yes. I will experiment with this. I was wondering if you tried to use the expression pedals to control the knob that adjusts the effects so that you could use the FCB1010 expression pedal to control the large knob that adjusts the effects.

I think the Uno chip can only 5 momentary pedal (I Dont know, why), and this case we need 10 of them. (1-5 Start/Rec) +(1-5 Stop)
Yes, should be possible. Just reassign the function on the RC-505, no need to change the CC.
The cc reset will be done when pushing the bottom play rec buttons.

If I have 2 boss rc505s , which I use simultaneously, is it possible to link pedal 1-5 to the first rc505 and 6-10 to the second one? Like that every single track would be foot controlled which would be amazing! Do you think it is doable?
the only thing I need is record - start and stop, nothing more.
also, would you be able to tell us: how heavy is the fcb1010?
And the last question: for this setup (10 pedals control 10 tracks, simple start stop): is it necessary to change the chip?

Gerry Diver just change the options on the Boss Rc505 and use the same CC numbers he's suggested here; I've done that for my top row!
Quick question: How many assignments can you make on the rc 505?

Please Please Please help me man... I am really stuck over here. So, I gave in and got the Uno chip and setup the pedal as you detailed in these videos. Works perfectly (thank you again!), but now for the tricky part...
I am trying to make Pedal 6 on Bank 01 an "Erase All" button. I had no problem setting the proper CC in the 505 and I have programmed Pedal 6 on Bank 01 to "Erase All' ....... Problem is, I STILL HAVE TO press the button twice to get it to work. I thought with the Uno chip upgrade (and I think the CC toggle feature) I would be able to make other CC message one click. Like I thought you did with your "Undo" programming on Pedals 6 - 10 Bank 00.
Is it not possible to make other pedals in other banks work only with one press?
If so, can you PLEASE point me in the right direction to do so.. I feel like I have tried everything. (I even download the Uno Control Center to no avail.)

I’m afraid that what you want to do can’t be done due to the limitations of the UNO+FCB system, but there are solutions:
1) only pedals 1-5 are stomp box capable, and you need a stomp box enable switch. so you can sacrifice one of the 1-5 buttons
2) Recently the uno guys made a new eprom especially for use with the rc-505, allowing for 12 stompbox mode switches . The FCB-505 eprom. If you use that you have all flexibility you want.
3) use an extra external foot switch on the rc-505 like the boss FS-6. This offers you 2 extra stompbox switches.
2 is the most ideal solution.

I was thinking about the FCB505 when I got the Uno chip, but it seems with the extra RC505 flexibility... one loses a lot of other pedal functionality. My dream here is to use one part of the FCB-1010 to control the RC-505, and the other patches not being used to send program changes to switch sounds on my Roland GR-33. I am not sure of course, but it seemed from the write up about the FCB505, that wouldn't be possible.
So, it looks like a FS-6 might be better for my set up. I also thought about getting the FCB505 chip, and just getting another FCB-1010 for the GR33. Pandora's box appears to be wide open. :)

Thank you so much for this, Definitely helped alot. I've been researching about this configuration for a while and never got to a final answer, was scared to buy the fcb1010 and it wouldn't work and i would just have another midi controller of no use. thankfully you relieved me :)
Small question though, the uno chip, do they ever come with it built it in, or do i have to buy it separately?
Maybe you can find one second hand with the uno installed. If you buy a new fcb you’ll have to order the uno separately and install it.

Bentai, if it’s for controlling the rc-505 go for the fcb505, gives 12 iso only 5 buttons with the uno.

@@bentaimusic yes, you'll need the stompbox mode. Standard FCB doesn't support it, with UNO you have 5 stompbox switches, with FCB505 you have 12. The FCB505 was developed by the UNO guys on my request to overcome the 5 switch limitation. (to be clear, I am not part of the UNO team)

Does anyone know how to set up the expression pedals with an RC505 to change the FX settings?
Note: I know there are other videos showing how to do this but want to make sure this doesn't change the above settings from the video?

Or use the fcb505 eprom from uno, this was released 2-3 months ago.
So it looks like you have to double or triple stomp the pedal for play/stop once you have successfully recorded and loop you are playing along with. IT seems to me like I would need 15 pedals. 5 for the looping...5 for undo...5 for play/stop. Plus what about skip thru a set list of songs you have preset up for looping/performing with the parameters all ready? And what about an all stop/master play/stop for when you wanna do like a dramatic stop in a song and then come right back in after? You can do that with your hands on the RC-505 but this just doesn't seem to cover a few important options.
Otherwise this is very helpful series. The only thing is...you never recorded the "why I did it this way" video, which for the way I learn things is the most important part.

Del, problem with the rc-505 is that it requires a “reset” cc before you can trigger the same event a second time. When using the uno in stomp box mode you can do this for 5 buttons only on the fcb, it sends a first cc on press (value between 64 & 123) and a second on release (value between 0 & 63) which acts as the reset.
