    Especially for guitar, bass and other players who need their hands to play an instrument. This 3 part video explains how to configure the Boss RC-505 so it can be controlled via a FCB1010 Midi controller.
    Gear used in the video:
    Boss RC-505 - www.thomann.de/gb/boss_rc_505...
    Behringer FCB1010 - www.thomann.de/gb/behringer_f...
    5 Pin Midi Cable - www.thomann.de/gb/the_sssnake...
    Each of the 5 channels will get a Rec-Overdub - play button and an undo but other configurations are possible.
    The FCB1010 is equiped with a UNO chip because StompBox mode is required. You can get more info on this on www.fcb1010.eu
    A list of the Midi parameters on the RC-505:

    Wonderful video! Thanks so much for posting it. By chance, do you know if this can be applied to different banks? In addition to what you are showing, I want to include an "All Start/Stop" pedal on Bank 01, but the pedals on Bank 01 just start changing the RC-505 presets.

    When I go to bank up and down (all 18 of them on the fcb) all the bottom numbers 1 to 5 still control the rec/play mode. That's all good but I want to be able to use numbers 5 to 10 to stop/play all tracks ? Any help would be great

    I’m using a Mac. I’ve programmed the fcb1010 as per your helpful tutorial. I’ve connected the midi out from the fcb1000 to a usb on my Mac using an Um-One interface cable. I use Midi Monitor to view the midi messages from the fcb1010. I then have the RC-505 connected to my Mac via a usb cable. Both devices are recognised. Using midi monitor I can see the midi messages from the fcb1010 when I press a pedal on the fcb1010 - however it does not activate the RC-505. I then use midi patcher to create a routing from the fcb1010 to the RC-505 and all is okay. The fcb1010 is controlling the RC-505 on all 5 presets.
    I note that you use Stompbox Mode - is this essential? In Stompbox mode the RC-505 is active on all fcb1010 banks. I would prefer to restrict it to just one bank and use the other nine banks for other midi functions such as the control functions in Logic Pro and switching the presets on my Strymon Timeline (Note that I’ve used the fcb1010 for these 2 functions and it works fine. Anyway my other question was - how do you control the midi routing). I suggest that when some users say they can’t get their fcb1010 to work is because of the midi routing problem.
    I would like to use the fcb1010 to control several midi devices. Can I assign different midi channels for the various devices on the fcb1010?
    Thank you

    I'm now trying to make bank 01 on my fcb control the stop/play button but can't figure it out? Like I've assigned the rc500 from 11 to 15 to do stop play all tracks via the fcb and followed same instructions as this but it ain't working.

    • @greetriman215
      @greetriman215  Před 5 lety

      It has some limitaties. The rc505 experts a CC < 64 to reset the functionity. This works only for the first 5 switches which remain the same for all banks (stompbix mode). For switch 6-10 I have simulated the behavior by sending the rest CC when pressing the corresponding switch from 1-5.
      In the meantime UNO has released a dedicated eprom for the rc-505 control called fcb505. This gives a lot more options (12 switches in stompbox mode and 2 expression pedals can be used), only one bank is available though and everything is fixed on the fcb. Configuration has to be done on the RC. Check it out: www.fcb1010.eu/fcb505.html

    • @greetriman215
      @greetriman215  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Leslie, to explain it in a simple way: you have to change the computer program in your FCB1010 by the program that is created by the guys of UNO. This is very easy to do, you need to order a computer chip on the UNO website and physically put this in your FCB. A lot of CZcams videos out there explaining how to do this installation. This chip enables you to put the FCB in stomp box mode which is something you need to control the RC 505.
      Video you are reacting to is already about one year old, in the meantime there is a new version of the chip especially for the RC505. When you use this configuration it is a lot easier. I am planning to make a video on this witch should be released one of these weeks if you want to get notified that the video is available subscribe, to my channel that’s the easiest way to do it. Hope this helps.

      You've probably already managed to achieve this, but I'll post here in case anyone else needs the info.
      I only had to set it up on patch 1, and as long as I press patch 1 after I start the looper, it works on all the other buttons in the bank until the looper is switched off. In the final step of programming the patch, buttons 8 and 9 control the left and right volume pedals. Make sure they are lit up (press and hold if they are not)
      To program the left pedal, press 8, then up, then 64 (the cc message), then up, then 0 (lowest setting), then up, then 127 (the highest setting) then press up. Do the same for 9, using (I use cc#65 for the right hand pedal). Then at the end, hold and press down to save. You also need to make sure that you've calibrated the pedals since you installed the Uno ROM (instructions here: el34world.com/Misc/Music/files/fcb1010_calibrate_expression_pedals.pdf ) otherwise they may not function correctly.
      When configuring the RC-505 to listen to volume #cc messages, the default is 0-200. You'll want to change it 0-100 to get a true organic feel, as 200 is 2x the volume of the original recording.
      I've assigned the volume of both tracks 1 and 2 to operate on the left volume pedal (you just have to get them listen to cc#64) and 4 and 5 operated by the right pedal (cc#65). It adds a lot of dynamic options to the looping.
