Cool tip! Just got an MPK mini today, really looking forward to creating with it
Great. Simple, clear, useful. 👍🏻
You save my life friend , Thanks a lot!!!!
thank you, I tried some regular camera connectors and I didn't get a message, it just worked for a second and blew them out. this is exactly what I needed.
Thank you so much!!! Absolute live-saver. Could you make a video on how to use it with GarageBand?
Thanks. I know this video is a few years old and you have the MPK Mini MK II there, but I have just bought one of these adapters to use with my iPad and MPK Mk3, which I'm pretty sure will work. In the slim chance it that it doesn't, then Amazon has a 30 day returns policy.
Helpful tips, thank you!
Thank you so much for the advice !! Keep on groovin’
Thanks it's very useful for me
*subbed* much love from vancouver!!
:-)
You are the Man!
thanks bro........it's so good
I have all the things you have and did it like you did still got the message
Make sure you connect the power supply before connecting the keyboard to the ipad
I've just started having the same problem. Any order I do it I have this issue. I initially had it running. It's like some update screwed it up. Extremely frustrating.
Terisace Bo you gotta make Sure youre using the power adapter that came with the ipad or one that would supply 10watts to your ipad, anything les than 10w would not be strong enough to power the midi controler.
Make sure that you are using the more powerful version of the brick
I did exactly wha you did step by step and still got the message
Do you use an original Apple USB camera adapter and iPad power supply?
I’m gonna try this later thanksn
Super.Thank you .
Thanks for this. What music software are you using on the ipad?
So grateful apple added type c to the pro so it can be plugged in with one cable
Dankjewel! :)
Did you download the software first or that your first time using it without setting it up?
Thank You !
woh THANK YOU
You made this work, please explain in detail how we do it.
Will everything you just did work on an iPad Mini 4?
I need to know exactly what kind of charger you have.
The charger I use is the one that came with my iPad, 10Watt.
Hello
Can I do it and contact it with my iPhone 11 witch application I can use please?? I need really your help
I just want to confirm that this way of connecting AKAI MPK Mini works (at least for my Mini Play, but it should be the same for normal Mini). The important parts are the following:
- Use original iPad power adapter or some other power source with equal or more power. Don't plug cable to USB port connected to your computer.
- Use proper usb-to-lightning cable that is capable for high power charging (like original Apple cables or 3rd-party cable that can be used to charge iPad).
- First insert USB cable and lightning cable into Apple Camera Connector and connect power. Then insert Apple Camera Connector into iPad. Doing it in any other order did not work for me.
Andrey Upadyshev indeed you need at least a 10Watts charger.
On the iPad pro you can simply use the tiny Samsung adapter from type c to usb and it worked to even power my mpk261
can confirm. An ipad pro doesn't need any external power to run even a 49 key midi.
Hey i have this setup but i still cant use my mininova. I have my iphone Xs Max, the camera usb kit, and a powered usb hub where i connect my novation mininova hoping i could record straight into garageband or at least play the keys but it doesnt do anything other than power the synth up. Any suggestions? Do i have to do anything? Choose a specific input or something?
I got the i rig keys myself i couldn’t find the comment or for this one so i returned it and got it instead but they are the same thing it’s all about the synth programs you download get model 15 moog it’s good
I used your method and worked for a few days; but now I am recieving the( cannot use devise as MPk uses too much power.) message.
So are there any other ways to make this work?
Original Apple cable and power supply?
Try this czcams.com/video/xAWXGUzAv7U/video.html
If you have a iPhone (Android is better for this) but for iPhone I know other cables to make it you just put the cable on the akai mini and you conect the akai mini cable with the iPhone cable to the iPhone you open garageband (fl studio mobile is better for me) and there ya go you got it.
For some reason the cable im using (thunder to usb B) doesn’t work with the mpk mini but it works with the oxygen 29 midi keyboard
any spesification for the IPAD??
Super 👍 assaaaaa 🤘 Loppi Lopez
Can you run the full MPC suite through the iPad?
For some reason I have the same cable with the lighting port with it and it still says the message
+Trap Gamer
Some tips (might not solve the problem but I know you might have issues if you do it otherwise)
- use the original Apple USB3 to Lightning camera connector kit,
- plug the power supply and keyboard to the connector before connecting it to the iPad
- make sure your power supply has enough power, I use the original iPad charger.
Same problem
Same
The fake one doesn’t work. Only the real apple certified product will work.
TgNationMusic
I got it to work, you just need a 12w usb to wall. Or the iPad charger
Can I buy that connector at a local store
I used that adaptor with the iPad Pro (9.7, latest iOS version) and the Zebra version of this controlleri, followed the instructions and still got the error message. I have three other keyboard controllers and neither of those gives me any issue...just this one, which I prefer the most.
Dean L Rogan II you need a usb hub and connect the keyboard to the hub and the hub to the adapter
@@byronjoelrodriguez7295 I've since swapped out for the 2018 11" iPad Pro so I no longer have that issue, but I found out that I needed a POWERED hub. Changed the name too (lol). Thanx!!
Bro give me a adaptor link then I am purchasing
will it work if i use a powerbank instead of the wall plug as the source power?
Yes, but you’ll need one that can deliver at least 12 Watt
does it work for iPhone XR Max?
If you connect a hub in the camera conenction kit you plug in the keyboard and it works without the need of a power adapter.
How is it possible?
@@RightFiveLeft It is possible with a hub. Try connecting a hub to the iPad connector. I'll make a video and show you. I have connected a sound card, a usb microphone and a usb midi keyboard to the hub and they all work.
@@Alexofon but why is it not working without?
@@RightFiveLeft Sorry. I don't understand your question. In the video you can see why it doesn't work and you need to connect it to power. But if you connect the keyboard to the hub you won't get the message and you can use it without external power.
@@Alexofon I mean that I don't understand it by technical point of view. Apple have there some software limitation which doesn't makes any sence.
I would like to make the velocity sensitivity disable in Akai ..is there a way you can show that
Just press the “full level” button
Will this work for an iPhone 8?
Keeva Nilynchie it doesn’t
How do you get the sounds from garage band to play on the akai? Do I need to download another app? Please help
They don’t play on the AKAI. They play on the ipad
👍👍👍 music video
I can't get the MPK to work in garageband - do i need to go to a specific instrument?
What app are you using on your ipad
Garageband
is it possible to record this way ???
I bought the Apple adapter and have my ipad plugged in to the charger, but I still get the low power notification. Any recommendations?
Power supply has to be 10Watt. Probably you use a 5 Watt one
@@greetriman215 I figured out that I could just plug in a USB hub into the adapter. Fortunately I had one lying around. Worked well after that. One more thing to carry around, but fortunately it's small and better than purchasing a new low power MIDI keyboard. Thanks.
Have mpk249 and mpkmin II neither one work width or without power supply to the bususi g iPad or iPhone 7 apple
2 things to check: use the official Apple USB adapter and make sure your power supply is at least 10 Watt.
Will this work with the iPad Air 2?
It works for every iPad that has a lightning connector
What kind of app do you have so it could work with your MPK????
Yes i also dont know
GarageBand 🤘🏾
Will this work for the first iPad mini and/or the iPad Air
Yes it can work BUT ... the power supply of those is not strong enough. You’ll need to use another power supply
Greetriman thank you
A power supply such as what?
Malo Man the adapter that comes with the ipad is 10watts so that would be the bigger adapter not the ones you get in the iphone boxes :)
Can you buy a spare AKAI lead? Mine was not in the box :(
Yes it’s Standard USB
Wouldn't it be more reliable to use a Korg PlugKey to connect a midi keyboard like the MPK to an iPhone or iPad? Sounds like this trick doesn't work for some people.
What app are you using
GarageBand
What is your OSX version on iPad?
+dramarec - 10.2.1
Sorry, but I have the same issue. However, I do not have Apple's original USB 3 camera connection kit but have it connected using my original iPad charger. Some say a passive USB in between would help fooling the iPad to deliver more power, but why? Why does not my iPad recognize that it has power through the connection kit? It must lie with the iPad which is an iPad Air 1 running iOS 10.3.3.
I can only say that I testen it with the original apple usb 3 caméra connection kit and a 10Watts Apple iPad charger, and that works. Don’t know which problems “none” apple accessories cause.
Greetriman thanks for your relpy. Which version of the iPad do you have and which iOS version? Sorry if you have already mentioned it.
I can inform that my solution was to add a passive USB hub in between the Akai MPK mIni and the USB 3 camera connection kit. Now it works.
i still done trust this
It works, i tried it.
Hi! I used the same steps and i still get the same message. I will try using a power hub. Does it matter on what apple device? Im using my iphone 6 garage band. Hihi
Rachel, if you use the power supply of your iPhone it’s normal that you get the message. It doesn’t deliver enough power. The iPhone charger is a 5 Watt device, you’ll need 10 or 12 Watts. The iPad charger can handle this power.
Greetriman got it! I will try using the ipad charger.
Let me know how it works out. Should be ok 🤞
Rachel Mae Maningo did it work?
It works with usb power hub.
what is the name of the application i use on the ipad?
GarageBand
will this work with iphone 6
It works with my iPhone 6s so probably Yes
does it work with iphone 5 ios 10.3.3? did anyone tried before me?
Yes but don’t use the iPhone charger. 5 Watt is not enough, you need 10
It still says the message I kinda just spent 30$ for nothing
Which power supply do you use?
You can try it with a USB hub. Some guy in another CZcams video claimed that it solved his problem.
I have the same problem
Can you play the drums using the pads?
Yes
does it come with cables or u have to buy it
+Mr AppleBananaa a USB cable is delibereert with the MPK. The Lightning to USB 3 adapter you’ll need to buy from Apple.
Mr AppleBananaa ok
How
One solution is here get I pad pro... My case I am using only Type c to printer cable
What app was that?
GarageBand
Is this set uo capable for iphone
Clint DelaCruz - Yes it works for iPhone also, if not yet done please like and subscribe
whats the name of usb apple cable?
+vithujan 27 its the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter
I don’t get the message anymore my keyboards lights just keep blinking idk what to do:/
Yah3x1 get beatmaker 3 make sure you’ve updated iOS and you should be good
what app did you use
Lena Piano old version of GarageBand
Greetriman hello I have the same mpk as you and I've tried everything but it just does not know what they could possibly be ... thank you that they have responded!
I️ connected the power supply first and then the keyboard and still got the message
Original iPad power supply? Original Apple usb connector?
Greetriman yeah
Which version iPad and iOS do you have? I have tested it on iPad 4, iPad 2017 & iPhone 6s. All works. All with the iPad 4 power supply
Greetriman I️ have a iPhone 7 Plus in iOS 11
But you use an iPad power supply right? The iPhone power supply (at least the one of the 6s) is not strong enough: 5 Watt vs 10-12 Watt
Can we loop music?
Yes
Does it works with iphone8? Any specific app?
Never tried it with an iphone8. What is important is the power supply which needs to deliver enough power. An iphone6 charger doesn’t give enough power.
Doesn't work unfortunately :( still get the message that the device requires too much power
Use a 10 Watt powersupply With the 5 watts it doesnt work
Does this work with a iPhone?
Yes, but not with the iphone charger which is only 5Watt, you'll needa charger that can deliver 10 or 12 Watts (like the one of the iPAD). If you need to buy one, they are not that expensive.
Yea but can you use the drum pads?! To make drum patterns?
Yes you can. Just Assign the right Midi notes to the pads depending on the app you use.
Can I drag my samples to each pad?
That’s all to be configured in the app you use. The mpk is just a midi controller.
Greetriman right I’m talking about in the context of GarageBand
did just that, ipad air2, does not work... which mini keyboard does actually work with ipad? anyone?
Bernd Klanke use at least a 10Watt powersupply. Often the apple supplied ones only provide 5 Watts and that is not enough
@@greetriman215 did just that, even with a 25 watts from anker --- no fricking way ... gave it back ... tries all other ... of all the usual suspects (novation etc) only arturia minilab did the job, without any added power, by the way. just like that, but i´m not happy with that thing, not enough features to control the daw ... oh my ...
Name of the app plsssss
GarageBand
@@greetriman215 ty bro
did everything you did. got no messages and it still won’t mork
*work
is it work for iphone?
Yes, but not with the iPhone charger. You need a 10 Watt version iso a 5 Watt.
Greetriman is is just the box i need to change or the cord too?
Only the “box” cable is ok
Guys instead of using the power supply watch this it explains a way better alternative.
czcams.com/video/L4s8oU0N0iE/video.html
After watching it go to the description and you can buy the thing you need.
But what’s the app
SexyAskDavian garageband
Plz tell me how to download GarageBand on android without human verification
GarageBand is only available on iOS devices
@@greetriman215 hlo man it is also launched for android know man
What’s the app?
Garage Band
Ok thanks
I still get the Message on my iPad and iphone
2 questions:
- do you use the official Apple USB adapter
- which power adapter do you use. You’ll need 10Watt, as delivered with the iPad. A 5 Watt doesn’t work (as delivered with iPhone or iPad mini.
But can I use an other adapter that didn’t come with the phone
If it’s 10 Watt, yes
where the hell in the world has weird plug ins like that?
What is your ipad version? Is it a 2017?
+Jochim Vandamme - it’s an iPad 4th gen
Your dumb thats like an ipad 1
Do you need any software for that ??
No, midi comed Standard with iOS.
Don't work with mk3 though!!
It's a new lighting to 3 camera adapter and akai mpk mini mk3 special edition black also the ipad is new ipad 2020. Plugged the midi to the adapter and plugged it into the ipad.
Usb updating, then came up with this accessory requires too much power, so i then disconnected and added the power to the other connection on the adapter and then placed back into the i pad, where it still came up with the message. So , i guess my question is, is it a a faulty adapter or a software issue?
