I just got one and I can't wait to use it. Exactly what I expected
to be honest, this is literally the best review video of this product on youtube... really informative, pads are utter crap, keys are probably thinner than my index finger.. and overall cheap!
not at all ... dude had no idea what he was doing. he had "full level" turned off thats why the pads react that way and give the feeling to be cheap an non-reactive but as said its just a setting.
"the keys were kinda small." did you not know what you were buying? If you look at the little picture, obviously the keys are small.
Also it's in the name, MPK "Mini" I myself would not expect a big package out of it, it's good enough though for the price
at 5:25 I would love to know what piano you are using to get that sound with the tap tempo.. i love that sound and want to use it in one of my next projects. can you please let me know where you found it. thank you! loved your review btw
hey I have a question, for beginner music producers would it be better to buy a akai mpc studio or the mpk 2?
hey I'm having problems is making out kind of funny noise when I look it up to my fruity loops and I don't know how to do how to fix that can you show me or tell me thank you
Sir, there maybe a strong suspicion that you might have to spend just a little bit more than the paltry amount of $70 to get the quality you are looking for. I for one think for the meager amount of a whopping $70 bucks, it is an amazing deal. Just my opinion.
I'm trying to assign drums to the pads in FL Studios but I'm having trouble. I assign a bass drum to the first pad and that's fine, but when I assign a snare to the second pad, all the pads play a bass and snare. When I click the pads in FPC (in FL) they make the separate bass and snare sounds, but when I hit the pads it makes both noises. has anyone had this problem?
Which version of fl Studio do i need to connect with things like mpk mini?
the mpk mini is dope this fool dnt know how to use it
Julian Cordova no doubt
and u can press a button n make the pads full sound automatically
Can u choose ur one beats to put on the pad like off studio one
Late to the party here, anyway to adjust sensitivity of the keys??
how do I register it on the site, I am without the code that is down for registration ... I can not configure it in my Logic ... can you help me?
Saw this MPK Mini in a pawn shop for $50. Was thinking of buying but now that I've seen this...I'll wait.
Pawn shop..? Jesus. cheap ass
yo man , learn to play and then try again
So I need fl in order to play actual notes? Also any dope free software? I need help y’all
sirrr, we don't need the DAW all the time right?. inbuilt speaker is on the board??
is there any good 25 key controller (besides the NI)? I have a akai, its ok but it looks and feels cheap.
Thanks
FIREWIRE GODDDDD
Obviously its not gonna make the exact same sound each time, the pads and keys are both pressure sensitive .
the baddest review ever
WiCHAL worst*
Giu001 lmao! Yeah!
the baddest grammar ever
Where did you get this from?
I am looking to get one myself. I have a full sized keyboard from Evolution, but currently i am "out of space" and would need something small to make music with. I think this is still better than using normal computer keyboard and mouse...
***** oh yea, def. i can literally slide it right under my monitor stand. I would'nt call me a pro by any means but I can def. whip up some stuff pretty quick with this guy.
I got mine last weekend and i am very satisfied with it.I just had some issues with the MPK mini software when i wanted to change the pads. For some reason when i set it for example pad 1 to C1-note, cubase read it as C0, so i had to set every pad one octave higher to it work correctly. Don't know why. I loved the software that came with it :)
If you are into electronic music, check my track i released last november www.junodownload.com/products/project-sirius-sunrise/2618458-02/
Есть ли там банки привязок для кнобов??
They just release the new version.
can it be asign to save or program the sound and not make it standalone during live show? cause its troublesome to bring ipad or laptop ...
This is only a MIDI CONTROLLER, not a synthesiser which is able to make sounds on its own. It can only tell a pc/mac/software what keys to press.
So you need a pc/mac/ipad for this
5:35 - OH, NO!!
If you are using Fl studio on a Mac you are doing clearly something wrong
ye
it's a mini on the go keyboard not supposed to b full size or full weight it's for portability
i noticed that you have a mac and you're using frooty loops. I was wondering how that is bc I have been told in the past that FL is only for PC
s wal there is a thing called 'Wine'. You can basically run windows programs on mac
There is an official (beta)version of fl for mac
you play the mpk mini on FL ?
tgarciax21
Yes and so what, what is wrong whit that?
sweet! how you get FL on your mac?
You can download the beta version from fl dot com
***** yeah already! thanx!
Why so much dislikes?
"It's not one solid sound every time"
press full level dummy with your fat fingers if you want to turn pressure sensitivity off.
The tap temp is to set the tempo of the track, it's not a sound effect, smh. When you're holding the key like that with the tap tempo pressed it's probably setting the tempo around 2000 bpm lol.
Also it's not pronounced "Ah-kee" rather "Ah-ky"
thanks for this comment because these are still close to $100 depending where you get it and i can't believe people who make these reviews and discourage people as myself who are looking for equipment to build with. I seen other people use these in their studios on youtube and the drum pads didn't have to be pressed that hard
Hi, there is no full level button on it idk what to do, I have the exact one in the video
what program are you using
ydna anicep fl studio 11
How
DUDE you making me angry, at first its 70 bucks that is cheap.
Second thing: you shouldn't stroke the pads you should drum on them. Next please learn to play and the most important one:
its positive point that the sound is different because they are velocity sensitive, but how you said you could think that thing has an in built sound generator.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
That compact disk you didn't check out, maybe next time you do a review for a product, use the CD that comes with it and learn to use your midi controller before hand, most people get a midi controller so they can take the work away from the computer to stay in their creative flow, had you used that CD it would have showed you how to control your D.A.W. straight from the Akai APK mini. How you managed to use google analytics to have this show up in the top videos five years later is impressive though I will give you that.
My arp is so wierd. It doesnt work at all, it just goes random berserk! Any tips on how to fix it??
StiipoOfficial sounds like it may be bad, like a contact is rubbing or shorting out. You just get it? return it for another.
I have no idea whats up with it. Its been like that since i got it, idk, maybe its the arp settings that are messed up in the confuguring program?
+StiipoOfficial no its not bad, its on the wrong setting, there is a random setting ya know. or do you mean like its not even in time?
Yeah exactly!
StiipoOfficial ohhhh then i have no idea..
one stupid question....does it have any sounds inside,
i want to buy it for a kid to play without PC.
I dont own one yet but im fairly certain it needs to be connected to a computer to work. I wouldnt use this for a child either, there are much cheaper basic keyboards you can get for him or her that will allow more creativity as with this you are somewhat restrained from lack of keys. Its not as entertaining unless you know what youre doing. However, if it has to be a beat machine, this is probably your best bet
I wondered the same, but after watching this, it looks to be strictly a control with no internal sound module.
+wmdbassplayer yea got mine a few weeks back. The akai relies on the software studio to make a noise. It won't omit sounds if it's not connected to a proper software
this is a controller. a controller gets his sounds from a DAW (DIGITAL AUDIO WORKSTATION). It doesnt have any sounds inside, like a synthesizer.
DO YOU NEED FL STUDIO? OR CAN IT BE LIKE...A THING ON ITS OWN?
No you don't need FL Studio specifically, but you do need some sort of DAW (Garage Band works fine). If you don't have a DAW, it comes with a free download of MPC essentials and a couple plugins, so you don't need to buy anything fancy.
Can you transpose on it?
Mike MizzLe yup
it feels cheap, umm it is cheap...
for music production software $100 is pretty cheap
mfjoey buuut...you get what you pay for. Something that's painfully ugly to listen to, lol
By comparison, my older drum.machine was 350.00. Much better.
And over that Roland TD-12. =$3,000 back when as a floor model. Lasted over 15 years so far.
not at all ... dude had no idea what he was doing. he had "full level" turned off thats why the pads react that way and give the feeling to be cheap an non-reactive but as said its just a setting.
Totally heading wrong direction on reviewing product like mpk mini, The software part skips with marvelous reason can't agree more about what zedster911 said
can this be used on desktops too?
+Connor Steezy yes to both questions
Do you have a cat, or a dog? They would button mash but it'd be entertaining.
nice pronunciation of AKAI...its no Akey its Akai...with an "i"
Thanks for the post.
The pads seem crap for beats as you do need velocity - it's kind of the point.
It would be better to write the beats on the keys :(
oh..I waited later on....the keys are shit too. Thanks!
the second version is alot better with the keys .. and the pads now have a button that makes the pads hit full velocity every time its a nice mobile midi
Motiv Beats OK. Thanks for that. Does it have another name? Model Number?
Akai mpk mini mk2
Motiv Beats emm ok...I read reviews about that. Just as shit they said.
JAKE AWAKE they tell u too jump off a bridge u gonna do it too? The only way to know if its really shit is too go to a music store and try it yourself.. Reviews are personal opinions ... U don't know what yours will be unless u get a hands on experience.
Lol what did you expect for a low price?
I would say it’s a great piece of equipment for only 70 bucks
How to transpose on akai mpk mini mk2?
octave
do i have to learn how to play a keyboard before buying this thing?
No, you can use this MIDI for editing your samples from software but it would help a lot if you know to play
"AKI" LOL ;D it is AKAI,...dude,..Why are you have the sustain on the piano until your computer crackles due overload,..do you really know what a sustainpedal is?,..before you share something you should be shure to know what you doin,..study more about your gear/musicproduction before you go online Peace

USELESS review, time wasted.
Ofcourse it feels cheap the mini is for poor people lol.
PEICE OF SHIT CONTROLLER, DOESNT WORK WITH PRO TOOLS AND THE HYBRID AND WOBBLE SOFTWARE DOESNT SHOW UP IN THE PROGRAM IN MPC ESSENTIALS, arturia mini lab or novation lanchkey25 here i come
