- This video explains how to connect the AKAI MPK Mini MkII (or any other USB Powered midi controller) to any ios device, using the Apple “USB 3 camera connector”. There's really no need for the power supply. In this video, an Iphone was used.

Thank for the help
You're most welcome 😉
Thank you very much sir 🙏🏻
You're welcome
helpful
Thanks
Thanks for the knowledge 🙏🏽recommend getting the camera adapter that includes headphone output if possible, so you’re not limited to the phone speaker.
Great if this is available, makes more sense
Do they make the camera adapter, lightening port and a headphone port all in 1??
@@Erick-fs1yv yes, search 3 in 1 camera adapter. You should be able to find both apple-specific and general usb C options
@@fivebyfivesound okay. Thanks a lot.
Thanks man
You're welcome!
Thank you
You're welcome
Thanks. How do I get more volume once connected?
Am first here. Am learning from you my guy but me and apple got divorced last year.
Hey man! I'm a bit late, but I wonder if you'll still be able to help out. When I follow the link you put down for the camera adapter, it shows the product as unavailable.. I'd really like to use my mpk mini plus with my iphone though, what do you recommend i do? Are there maybe other solutions now?
Hi! Thanks for the video, it helped me a lot! I have a question. Will apple headphones work with the extra charging port on that adapter so I can use headphones while I have the keyboard plugged in? Thanks!
Spark1357 absolutely
Can i use the pads?
Hi I’m trying to program drums for some pop punk songs . Any tips
Hi, thanks for this video. Just have a quick question can I use that lightning to usb camera adapter cable from my akai mpk mini to my MacBook Pro?
You don’t need the adapter to connect with your MacBook, the printer cable USB B is enough to do that
Does knobs and pads work on GarageBand?
Thanks bruh. subscribed. anyway is can you pls tell me how to connect the guitar thru audio interface + akai mini + iphone
You will need a kind of USB hub to do that. However, if you connect your guitar to an audio interface, you don't need the midi controller
@@Pianistprogrammer thanks bruh
Thanks for subscribing though
Thanks man 🖤 i have a question ... would the drum pads work normally on GarageBand ?
Yes it will
Thanks for the video bro. But there is still a question. What about headphones? How can we plug headphones while we use the akai with an i phone? Thank you.
Alican Kocali I made a review video, you can check at the end of the video for concerns and questions raised by other people that have been addressed , 👊🏽👊🏽
Hi friend, does the knobs on controller also works normally with the music apps? Thanks!
Yes it does especially for things like volume, attenuation, reverb, echo etc
Interesting…
This is dope man. What software on the iPhone are you using to connect to the midi?
Never mind I see that you say it was garage band. Could u possibly make a tutorial video on how to use it with garage band. Also, could u please make an updated video. To make sure this works with the new iOS and akai mini play. Thank you! Much love
@@abstractaccuracy8570 okay sure I will, watch out
can i still use bluetooth in my phone ?
Thanks for the video bro, hope apple some day make a simple usb port and avoid this UGLY KIND OF ADAPTERS...
Glad it was helpful
Did you use the Apple usb camera connector , or the off brand one the second time ? Thanks for the video.
Apple usb camera connector
Where can I buy this
Does Apple make the camera adapter w/ lightening port and headphone port all in one?
Unfortunately, No
Okay, thank you 🙏🏾
My only question as a guy whos been trying to use this exact set up… how do you get it to sound through production speakers without bluetooth?
Bluetooth is not a good option for production because of latency. Go with the wired setup always
I’ve connected my Bluetooth speaker to my iPhone and been able to use GarageBand with not the worst lag. It works and sounds good. Def depends on the type of speaker too. I have a Bose SL 3
@@michelleedwin3514 thanks for the feedback
If i want to use earphone for the sound, can that be done on this setup? Is there earphone port on the Akai Mini?
No, your laptop should have a jack port or you use an external accessory
How is the sound projecting from your phone to speakers? Bluetooth? Do you notice a delay (latency)? I have the akai mini mpk hooked up to my iphone with the same adapter but cannot use bluetooth headphones because the delay is unbearable.
You should get a lightening cable with audio port. That way, you don't have to use bluetooth
if you have an iphone 15 just connect it directly to the piano via the usb-c and watch magic happen!!!
Seems like the link to the camera adapter is broken
Will post an update soon

Am subscribe your chanel i wana ask you Q am gona buy that lightining adaptor but the link you drop that the page was error so please help me that were can i get this adaptor
Oh sorry about that, I will drop another link for you to purchase

I got a wireless charging pad, will it still work without the camera adapter?
I should try this out too, right now I can't say for sure
Pianistprogrammer doesnt work
why dont you power the akai externally, why would you want it to be powered by your phone?
how do you do that
Is it in sync? Or is there a delay when playing the keys?
Totally in sync
and then how to connect it to speakers, the speakers of the iphone arent very good or loud....
If you have an audio interface, get a USB hub and the lightning USB 3 Camera adapter, these accessories will help you make that connection. I'll drop a video about that soon
How can I use my keyboard and make beats on my phone
I assume you use an iphone, if yes you can connect it with any midi controller of your choice, but you need the lightening to usb adapter
What kind of ipad do you use
I don't use an ipad, rather an iphone
Does it work with fl studio mobile?
I'll have to try that, don't know yet
Does it have to be usb 3
Certainly
Does it work with iPhone se 2020?
Certainly should work as long as you have GarageBand on it
Pianistprogrammer also will a usb3 adapter work?
@@tfmsteven I can’t say for sure right now, it I believe it will
Is it compatible with iphone 8 plus? Without any problem?
Yes I believe it should, I used IPhone 7 plus, it definitely should work for 8
is it only for Iphone only not for other brand like oppo?
Yes , GarageBand is only for iOS devices, however there are other apps like this on the play store . One of such is N-track
Please i need a place to buy this
Which country do you reside ?

@@boipopzee okay, i can recommendation one to you , it's a bit bigger than this though , it's 5 octave , but it's about 120k, if not then send me an email on pianistprogrammer@gmail.com, i will give you the contact for this midi
@@Pianistprogrammer Lagos Nigeria 🇳🇬
@@Pianistprogrammer it’s not the midi I want it’s the adapter
But what if you wanna use head phones?
Then lightening port can help with this for iPhones 7 and above
Cool bro , thanks, this was very informative 👍🏽
What IOS MIDI Keyboard App did you use to connect your AKAI Keyboard to your iPhone?
GarageBand
I got everything but it doesn’t work
Jack Gauci what’s your iPhone spec?
Pianistprogrammer it’s an iPad 6tgh generation
You may have to check how to enable midi devices with iPad, normally it should work out of the box, but sometimes older gen iPads need some tweaking
Pianistprogrammer what do u mean “tweaking”
Jack Gauci my friend uses an iPad too, I remember he had to do some settings on the iPad, midi settings
how would i connect wired headphones?
Wired headphones to your Iphone? If you use Iphone 7 and upwards, you need to get an extra accessory to that effect. It is a converter from lightening port to 3.5mm audio port
It still doesn’t work
could you list out your devices here?
Thanks
