  • In this very special episode, Matthew and I team up on random lobbies with some rather devious intentions. Just a couple of friends having some fun.

WIND WOODS FOR WIND LETS GOOOOOOOOO! Also that Rosalina Mii suit looks fire on the Master Cycle! You two did well on Wind Woods and I appreciate it!

I knew you'd like it, and now that you mention it, aesthetically Rosalina's Mii suit with its color scheme really goes well with the Master Cycle. Talk about being stylish!

I knew that was you! Sorry I bailed on you like that. I swore 12 races and that Yoshi Valley race was the last one. Glad you dropped in though.

Should I be worried by the thumbnail? A quick scan of the video says I shouldn't be, but the thumbnail looks to be somewhat sus all the same. 👀
    1:26
    The plot begins.
    1:35
💥 You jottem! (spelling intentional, and sort of a hint on my "more violent than Eric Young" Miis, but one that won't do any good if you didn't figure out who they are when I dropped a "BAU BAU" hint in a previous video or stream)
Oh, and that's a direct violation of the first rule of Sunshine Airport. Just to reiterate that rule, it's "no Bob-Ombs". 😆
    2:41
Kicking things off with a 1-2 punch. That's what I like to see. 👏
    2:52 and 35:07
    Yay for Yoshi Valley! ❤
Speaking of, you may want to check my commentary on the final half hour of this past Monday's stream. I think you might be interested in what I had to say there. I think my finest points of *that* commentary were made at Coconut Mall and Yoshi Valley.
    3:54
I learned that from Hydreix a couple months ago, but it's also a frontrunner, as I proved over the course of the final couple laps this past Monday. The best courses have elements of both, so this is just another reason why Yoshi Valley is *the* best course in Mario Kart history. ❤
    4:04
Oh! Perfect timestamp for the commentary I have here.
Justin.exe could not be found. Justin was too indecisive on which route to take, leading to an "okay, Goomba" moment. 😎
    4:34
Hopping 🥚! Aside from the sleeping Wiggler hop at Mario Circuit DS (and hopefully Madrid Drive as well), this is my favorite hop. 🤣
    4:51
Amazing how this bridge is so much easier to cross when Oddball isn't littering 🍌 after 🍌 after 🍌 on it. Crazy how that works. 🤔
    6:54
The ankle-biter tried biting off more than it could chew.
    6:59 and 8:49
Justin out of context. Also, *PHRASING!* 😆
    7:23
Is this Snow King logic like "HI I'M DAISY" throughout Miitopia?
    7:53 and 8:54
(in Radical Edward voice) Justin? **sniff** **sniff** Bad 🍄?
Don't need another timestamp, since what I'm about to share is *why* I timestamped here and called out the "bad 🍄".
    (in Al Bundy voice) Stee-RIKE!
    7:59
This one is *NOT* "bad 🍄". You just didn't move far enough left to avoid the flipper.
    10:06
Should've watched Ren's shortcuts video. The one for the Turnip Cup was featured right here.
Disclaimer: I'm not sure when this was filmed, so maybe this session was before Ren's upload, so take commentary here with a grain of salt.
    10:14
That's Wave 5 for you. I miss when the items functioned properly like they did on the Switch up to and including Wave 4. Hopefully that gets patched in Wave 6.
    10:32
Again, wonky Wave 5 item activity. This time, it benefitted you... but punished Matthew instead.
    11:25
Nice win on your "home" course. 👏👍
    12:35
It's not just the Yoshi-class characters. It's also the Inkling Boy, male Villager, and Tanooki Mario class. Both classes are sweats when put on the Teddy Buggy. The Luigi-class characters and the inwards that share Teddy stats are lesser-degree sweats, while the Mario-class characters, the Cat Cruiser, and the Pipe Frame and Streetle vehicle classes are borderline sweats. Of course, if neither Roller variant is used as the tires, there's probably no sweat involved with the build after all.
    14:53
Nice. This cut represents the Lightning Cup in Ren's video, but I lack the confidence to take it properly.
    15:48
Daisy's got no time for that Spiny Shell.
    16:52
    For wind!
    18:52
I keep failing on my attempts with this cut from Ren's video. I sometimes come close, but I never have enough of a boost through the grass for the trick jump without a 🍄, and Ren's video is all shroomless.
    20:01
    Random Tick-Tock Clock?
    21:12
More Wave 5 item shenanigans. You threw that when you were in second, but it ends up hitting the person who passed you right after the item set.
    22:17
The "F" is overplayed at this point, and I've taken a liking to a video game called "Faith" in the past week or two, so instead of F, I has something else to say. *M O R T I S*
    28:44
That Peach either didn't have any 🍄 before the final item set or didn't know how to cut through the grass. Either way, *M O R T I S* for her.
    30:03
I already addressed this in your Community post the other day, but I do need to add that I have since learned of a sleeping Wiggler at Madrid Drive, so in addition to Madrid already being my favorite Tour city course coming to 8 Deluxe, I'm thinking Wiggler will be Spanish in Alex canon.
    32:21
I see 3 good choices here, so with none of the players choosing Random, you were guaranteed a good course.
    35:23
    To the -Mall- Valley, boys!
    35:50
Oh *NOW* items decide to function properly. Where was this triple 🍌 interaction at New York about 26 minutes earlier?
    35:59
I'd say Roy at the Mall is a mid-to-upper tier bagger combo, with the reasons why it's considered to be "not good" as the reasoning for why it's not definitely an elite bagger combo. Probably a solid B, maybe a B+, as far as grades for bagger combos go.
As I learned from Shortcat, the best bagger combos need some amount of Acceleration and Mini-Turbo in case the course requires a move to be made before the second half of the final lap/segment of a race. Once Wave 6 drops, I'll have a chance to test out just how good Father Boo in the Tanooki Kart with Hot Monster tires and the Nutkin Glider (a.k.a. Waddle Wing, as you'll see in my timestamps for Matthew) is as a bagger... and I'll also get to test out bagging at Baby Park as well, but that's kind of off-topic at this timestamp.
    37:14
Did you just call SSCENSION out as a "Yoshi sweat"? 🤣
As evidenced by the timestamp about 25 minutes ago, you're not wrong. That's a Yoshi Teddy with (Azure?) Roller tires, so all the sweat requirements are in his build.
    38:03
2 (you), 4 (the "Yoshi sweat"), and 5 (Matthew) to close out the set. It's nice to have a solid finish. 😄
This is *not* the end of my commentary, as I have some timestamps for Matthew as well. Check replies to his 🐮 emote for those.

Me and Matthew being Sus? No... Um, maybe? lol
1:26 Daisy has a bomb. Oh no...
1:35 I am once again, on the no-fly list with that Bob-bomb violation. For the 3rd time. (at least I didn't hit nothing and bomb the terminal)
      2:41 Top two! YEAH!
2:52 & 35:07 Double dose of Yoshi Valley for Remy. Matthew didn't appreciate it though...
3:54 It works both ways, which is nice. Not many tracks are balanced like this.
4:04 I hate my indecisiveness at times... lol
      4:34 BOING.
4:51 I was also driving a much smaller bike this time lol. Daisy would've gotten around those bananas with the Sport Bike lol
6:54 "This just in. A Piranha Plant just tried eating a giant Pinball. Failing miserably."
6:59 & 8:49 There are times when Justin Newman does not care and says whatever. ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!? LOL
7:23 Willing that Blue Shell into existence! Snow King style lol
7:53 & 8:54 My mushroom use on Pinball was bad. lol
      7:59 I could've sworn I was safe, but I would've eaten a red anyway. Either way, I'm taking a hit.
10:06 I'm aware you can take that cut shroomless, but I rarely do it. Its a bit of a judgement call. There are times where its just not worth it.
10:14 It never works in my favor. But as you see later in the video when an opponent slams into ME with triple bananas...
10:32 Either it did skip me (typical Red fail) or I was too close to Peach at the time it was thrown.
      11:25 HONEY, I'M HOME!
12:35 Yoshi is just so popular, so even with other very viable characters popping up, if you main Yoshi Teddy Buggy/Rollers, you are labeled a sweat by default in the eyes of most players. Its no different than the Waluigi Wiggler meta.
14:53 And to make this cut even more complicated, it depends on your pace. Tick-Tock Clock runs on a global cycle so race it enough and you'll get a general idea when to take these cuts. Most of the time on 150cc the cut is only safe to attempt on laps 1 & 3.
15:48 HI I'M DAISY! So loud she destroyed the shell lol
16:52 Wind Woods. Master Cycle. Rosa Mii Suit. FOR WIND
18:52 Your drifting skills need to be on-point in order to get this one to work. Its not anywhere as difficult as the shroomless end-cut on Grumble Volcano however.
20:01 Random indeed. It was not on the board for this round.
21:12 Lag and Nintendo just breaking stuff.
      22:17 M O R T I S? Never seen that one before.
28:44 Get far enough ahead and 1st can mess 2nd up even if they shroom up.
30:03 Sleeping Wiggler on Madrid indeed. Apparently they also roamed in Tour. I'm guessing the Wiggler will wake up and start roaming late in the race similar to the one in Mario Circuit. More Wiggler, the happier Remy is and more Tour Guide coming. lol
32:21 We got Big Blue. TIME TO GO FAST BOYS.
35:23 Roy comes through Yoshi Valley on his way to the Mall!
35:50 Its like what Matthew said earlier in the video: "This game is rigged!" Obvious reference to my time stamp earlier too. Its hard to feel that the game isn't rigged when BS situations like this keep happening to me and no one else.
35:59 I was just picking this Combo to be a goofball. Didn't intend on bagging but was definitely forced to. The bad acceleration gets nullified often since I tend to shroom while bagging.
37:14 It'd probably bounce off of him. Did you know that ASCENSiON is also on the GwA team now? If you haven't seen his comment yet, he said he was waiting for a Squad Queue, decided to kill time online and ended up in my lobby. He didn't even know what I was up to. lol Unfortunately the Squad Queue he was waiting for didn't end up happening.
38:03 ASCENSiON could've lit me up at the end but chose not to for some reason. Anyway, good ending for the final race.
And Matthew has seen the commentary directed at him and he called you a goofball lol

The thumbnail being sus was more about the background for your Daisy. It looked too much like a course Matthew (and Quick, but he wasn't involved with the video) loves that ended up making Kefka an unlikely savior, but my eyes and/or mind could have been playing tricks on me as far as the thumbnail is concerned. 🤔
      1:26 and 1:35
Daisy is already known to be a princess, so it's difficult to try to convince me she isn't King Bob-Omb's daughter at this point. 👀
      2:52 and 35:07
Matthew just doesn't like Yoshis, so I'm not upset with his view of Yoshi Valley. That said, I'm planning awards of sorts in the comments sections for Alex's March 14 (where I reveal the 10 categories, with 5 nominees for each category) and October 24 (where I reveal the winners for each category) streams next year, assuming Alex maintains his usual Thursday streaming schedule, and Matthew may end up not being happy with some of the nominees/winners.
      3:54
I love that balance, and many other things, about Yoshi Valley. This is actually what inspired the awards I mentioned at the previous timestamp. 😄
      4:34
I should have mentioned this as part of the original commentary, but it completely slipped my mind then. The last time I saw an egg hop like that was in the Jim Davis comic strip U.S. Acres. Please tell me you remember Sheldon. 🙏
      4:51
Ah, the curse of the Bone Rattler. 💀😆
      6:54
I can hear Petey now. Telling a horror story about a Piranha Plant lost his/her teeth by trying to bite through a pinball. Unfortunately, we won't be able to understand what Petey's saying because every word will sound like "Mweh!" to us.
      6:59 and 8:49
Sounds like I found Gladiator Justin here, and yes I am very much entertained. 🤣
      10:06
Seeing how the race turned out, it's difficult to say you made the wrong call here. As you said, it's a judgment call as to whether or not taking it shroomless is a good idea. My original commentary here was only meant to plug Ren's shortcut video in case you didn't already see that... and I forgot to adjust the commentary in light of the race result. Silly me.
      10:14
Kefka Palazzo: "Don't tell me you forgot what happened near the end of *our* race here."
That's right. When the triple 🍌 from Kefka failed to hit you, it was indeed at New York Minute.
      10:32
Either way, the "benefit" to you ended up screwing over Matthew, so it was a pyrrhic victory at best.
      12:35
Good thing the closest I come to "sweat" territory when I use Yoshi is "borderline" (by my own admission), as I have used Satori's Pipe Frame and Rollers build once or twice before, but I often prefer using GLA tires when I have a middleweight driver (to add the Invincibility that was lost with a "meta" driver) and definitely prefer off-meta vehicle bodies (but can use pretty much any "meta" body without feeling dirty... except, of course, for the Teddy Buggy).
      14:53 and 18:52
Sounds like I'll have an easier time trying Tick-Tock Clock's shortcut on odd laps than I will with Wind Woods at any lap. Which explains why I've had numerous failed attempts at Wind Woods before watching this video yesterday. If I'm struggling with Wind Woods with the aid of Ren's video, I'll never get the Grumble Volcano cut, as Tick-Tock Clock was featured for Grumble Volcano's Cup instead.
      20:01
I wasn't sure if it was a Random here or if you just skipped the race that was about to be selected. That's a problem with the abrupt cuts, but the dialogue we had here is an adequate solution. 😄
      22:17
I'm not positive without needing to do some research, but I'm pretty sure that "mortis" is Latin for "death". Meanwhile, F became a meme from a funeral scene in a video game. I know you've heard of "press F to pay respects". At this point, just about everyone knows that one. I mean, even *I* know that, as I just showed here. Thus it's only natural that, when F is no longer sufficient, *M O R T I S* takes its place. Also, I love the 8-bit voice used in the game "Faith".
      28:44
I had to rewatch this timestamp to refresh my memory that this happened at Excitebike Arena. At the right angle, a 🍄 can cut past first and steal the win. Huge Island may or may not have done that in September 2021 (shortly before I found Alex), but definitely had a triple 🍄 set at that time, so maybe the angle only works with a more powerful item than a single 🍄.
      30:03
If Tour Guide's showing up at Madrid, I'm going to have to brush up on my español.
      35:23
Maybe there's a hidden mall at the Wild Yoshi Sanctuary. 👀🤔
      35:59
High Speed combos tend to be good baggers and look goofy at the same time. That's two wins for the price of one.
      37:14
I saw his comment, and I think you had already replied to him before I left this commentary yesterday, but my memory might be playing tricks on me with that as well as the thumbnail.
      38:03
In all likelihood, he probably saw you and Matthew as teammates once he realized he got in your lobby. Like you said, he was getting warmed up for a squad queue that ended up not happening.
A goofball? Me? *Not* an... "Oddball"...? It's almost like Matthew is the goofball here. Okay, so he and I are *both* goofballs. 😆

      9:23
Look at the billboard. What were you saying about Donkey at the end of the previous race? 👀
      11:53
The same thing happens with the Pipe Frame and 300 SL Roadster, and I expect the same to be true for the W 25 Silver Arrow. The MC3 light reflecting on these vehicle bodies gives them a nice alternate look. 😄
      15:14
It's only natural to love the character who's practically a literal goddess in the Mario franchise.
      16:52
      For wind!

      29:26
I can't possibly disrespect them any worse than Jen Taylor did approximately 25 years ago. Just saying.
      38:40
Time sure does fly. It's been a fun 2 years. Well... mostly fun, anyway. This past July wasn't, at least not until I made a Mii based on Kefka Palazzo.
Sorry for the mild complaint about Wave 5. I need to get it all out of my system while it's still the "new" wave, since I know I'm going to love Wave 6. When Wii Rainbow Road is considered the worst course of a wave, the wave as a whole is legendary, and that's how I see Wave 6 (but I'm definitely in the minority on ranking Wii Rainbow Road dead last of the 8 courses).
      38:55
As long as nothing else comes up on my end (and if Justin's streaming, of course), I'll be looking forward to watching. Take no prisoners!
