I had this procedure done today and it was far less embarrassing than I thought it was going to be. It did not hurt. The wand was much smaller than anticipated. The technician asked me to place it, she held the far end of the wand while I inserted it. All of this was done underneath the paper sheet. At each step the technician told me what she was doing. Moving to the left, moving to the right, pulling out the wand. Now I wait for the results.
Awesome. Grow your practice with a system that evolves with your needs, offering scalable solutions for tomorrow's challenges.
I’m thinking I’m gonna need one and scared as hell. When they do the Pap smear it freaking hurts- I HATE it! I can’t imagine this!!! 😭😱
I can relate to your pain. Everytime I get a pap smear it's very painful. Last one I had I was basically in tears because of the pain. The pain doesn't get better for me. Even with me being 40. It makes me not what to get anymore. I have to have ultrasound done because heavy bleeding I have. Looks painful just watching it. 😳
@@flipperthrifter do you know the cause of the pain I am having this problem and I was wondering if there is a way to fix it?
The ultrasound is very uncomfortable (the worst part is the emarrassment) but it should NOT be painful.
@@odd-duck I don't know why it's painful for me. I know I backed out when they wanted to do novasure. They wanted me to do biopsy. They only told me to take ibuprofen. I want some kind of anaesthesia. It's like having pap smear but worse. I seen too many horror stories how people say how painful biopsy is.
its not painful until they push it farther up your stomach and move it around thats the painful part and pelvic pain after
For an ovarian cyst exam, the probe caused me months of pain. I went in to the exam painfree.
The transducer is thinner than a tampon. It gets a condom-like cover over it (latex or non-latex), and then gets smothered with lots and lots of gel. Only a few inches goes inside because the vaginal canal is not that long. The insertion and the exam should not be painful.
Just been referred to the drs for one of these and I'm really not looking forward to it. I'm virgin and I find using tampons really hurts so I'm kinda worried about the pain. It even hurts with just my pinky finger but my dr said this was the only way to properly check for pcos
I always thought a vaginal ultrasound was them sticking a camera all the way up into your uterus and it freaked me tf out
Cringy?? It sounds terrifying
I may be considering getting one if my cycles don't regulate soon, even with being on thyroid medication (was diagnosed with Hashimoto's this past summer), and I swear I'm perimenopausal. However, I'm still wanting to rule stuff out on why my cycles aren't regular.
Lol the place I went did not use a drapes
It what?! But every place is supposed to-
What? No Cover? That's kinda unheard of. I wouldn't have done it unless there was some kind of cover. Its an uncomfortable experience as it is.
Im nervous about getting this done cuz after I had my first Pap smear done, I felt like I was raped due to the pain. I mean it was just really painful. I don’t know how some women go through that. So I now freak out whenever I need to get checked down there. I had a transvaginal ultrasound when I was 23 and it wasn’t painful and I had my first Pap smear at age 27 but now I’m 29 and I’ve been really sensitive and in pain down there. I’ve never had any down there problems before. So I’m nervous about if it’s going to be painful to get the wand in…
No wayyy I’ve been putting off a Pap smear cuz of my sis in laws experience and apparently they don’t even give anything the numb the area a bit and she was in pain and they still went forward with it. I def don’t am scared I dno why and I’ve already had a kid and everything but I’d rather give birth again than get a Pap smear🤣
@@jeezlouizHonestly same. I’d rather give birth than have a pap smear. A good gynaecologist will pause if you feel uncomfortable though. Also much better to have female gynaecologists. I’ve never heard a positive story from anyone with a male gyno.
I always decline it. It not needed. I'll stick with the pelvic thank you.
If you are under 18 do you have to have a parent in the room with you?
What are the contraindications in transvaginal ultrasound?
Being a virgin!
I've done plenty of these and the one and only time I couldn't insert the probe was because the patient had some growth in the vaginal walls that were painful and the probe couldn't be inserted.
If sb has to do it but never wore tampon or had sex how is degree of pain from 1 to 10?😅
it doesn’t hurt as much as your first time having sex or a tampon but it’s painful
It depends on your body. I had 2. I was a virgin and could not even use a tampon because it was excruciatingly painful. But, my first ultrasound barely hurt and my second one didn't hurt at all.
Legend.

Okay so I had one today I am 6 weeks and 1 day and I just used the bathroom a few mins ago and I had light spotting is that normal?
Men don't give opinions with you inserting the probe especially if you're attractive.
OMG, there are so many things wrong with that statement. For one, a guy doing the exam should have a chaperone, likely a female who if qualified can do the exam herself. And always ask if you can insert the probe yourself. It isn't likely that a tech would say no to that.
Then they drop the probe 😮
is it really to be inserted on the anus? instead of the vagina? would thaat really be able to see ovary and uterus?
it’s inserted into the vagina and they have to stick it farther up and move it around to find your ovaries and uterus and its very painful I thought I was getting an regular ultrasound on the stomach
@@ariell1You thought a trans-vaginal ultrasound was on your stomach? Did they not explain anything to you? That’s irresponsible on their part. Also it shouldn’t be very painful.
