ORGINAL VIDEO: • Biggest F1 Crashes fro... - Zábava
These big crashes generally don’t happen that often. Last year we only had 1 big crash. This year 3 big crashes and 2 small crashes but high G-forces. And for the multi car crashes especially 3 or more are very rare. Don’t remember one last year but we had one this year in silverstone
Don’t remember bowling Bottas in Hungary last year? 😁
Mugello in 2020 and Hungary 2021 come to mind
@@MrSchmekker as a max Verstappen enjoyer i don't know how tf i forgot about that one
@@justadude6637 Be happy you forgot about that pain of a race from VER's perspective.
what about Hungary, Britain, Monza last year?
19:05 that's actually happened to someone before in a f2 race. His name was Antoine Hubert and he died from the crash. One of the most brutal things I've ever watched.
Wow that’s crazy
Yea it was such a horror crash aswell RIP Anthoine
Bianchi crash was really horrific too
the one he collided with ( correa ) broke a lot in his lower body. survived it though, and is racing again. ( f2 or f3, not sure )

Kubica crash 2007 was at likely 190mph and apart from some injuries to his legs (his feet stuck out of the front of the car in the end) and the fact that he lost consciousness, he was pretty much fine. Different story with Massa in Hungary 2009. He was just very lucky to not have been ooofed.
Edit: I guess they didn't put the fatal and near fatal crashes on purpose in the video
Getting knocked unconscious isn't exactly being "pretty much fine". One too many of those could completely ruin your life, specially when you compete in a sport that requires so much constant mental work.
Massa was never the same either. He could have been champion
@@mexa_t6534 that's why I said 'apart from this'. No bigger fractures and stuff. Just bruises, his legs and the fact he lost consciosness. Kubica's 2011 rallye crash was far worse
I remember watching the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix. Honestly thought he was dead until they showed him limping away. Absolutely astounded that drivers can get up and walk away from crashes like this in cars that are surprisingly small.
grand prix is pronounced more like "Gran pri" or something very smimilar to that
Gron pree
It’s just pre. Like to pre-empt.
It's 'Big Prize' in French
In english its "Grand Pri"
@@katerinaki2009 not necessarily. I’m English, and I usually don’t hear people pronounce the ‘d’ in ‘grand’, especially in official broadcasts
For the flipping crashes: they have roll cages, which have to endure very serious testing before the car gets a pass for the races. There are minor crashes every other race, like a wallbang, or something on the start. I think a racer is in a major crash once, maybe twice a year. They have to be careful with the car, they are crazy expensive.
After 2017 (if I remember correctly), there is a titanium ring above the drivers head, which further enchants safety. The last fatal crash was in 2014, and before that in 1994.
On top of that, this year in the British gp was the first time a roll cage failed, since 1999
Enchants safety? 😂 +5 Safety
I dont want to be a nerd, but its roll hoop instead of roll cage, a roll cage is what you'd find in closed cockpit cars such as Nascar or Rally Cars
@@Carsplanes200 I'm glad you commented this. I learnt something new.
NEVER be afraid to share your knowledge on account of the opinions of judgemental people.
in 2018 they added the halo which is in fact made of titanium but isn't a full ring
For the 2014 season there was actually a much worse crash, but I perfectly understand that it is not part of the list as Jules Bianchi succumbed to the wounds he sustained...
Hey gents - you need to know, as a part of F1 safety progress, there have been various incidents over the years that pushed improvements.
Robert Kubica's crash in Canada, right @8:33 , you can actually see his feet! He was so lucky.
The safety cell today is as good as it is, because of that crash.
It’s said like Grand Pree. No one’s going to name a race pronounced pricks, lmfao!
Did he really ask if the driver drove over the top of the other driver on purpose😂
As a polish F1 fan I have to say something about Kubica's crash in 2007. The thing is, in today's F1 it wouldn't happen because of Scott Speed's car staying would be VSC. Also, he had almost no injury but at the moment we in Poland thought that he could be dead. It was awful. In fact, he paused just next race (US GP) because of twisted ankle, and normally raced later that season. And his one and only win in F1 (also, one and only polsih win) was exactly one year later at same circuit. Amazing
.
8:30 craziest thing about the Kubica crash is at the end you can see his feet just dangling out of the nose of the car. Scary stuff tbh
I know. These cars are really small up close. Makes you wonder how they cram so many safety features on cars like this.
@@Groggyracer the modern cars are huge, they're 2m wide and nearly 6m long
“That’s like 4 cars” 10 seconds before : 8 car pile up
Hi guys.
Flipping in a F1 car isnt as bad as at appears since the air intake above the drivers head is shaped around a roll bar.
And going directly into a wall is way worse then sliding upside down into a gravel pit.
If the car has parts flying off and or slows down completely or before it hits the wall it loses energy creating far less g-force on impact.
As to how great the chance of being involved in crashes depends on the starting position, starting in the midfield creates more chance of a crash during the start especially.
Mostly the midfield cars are the most competitive to each other compared to the top teams or back runners.
So they race closer.
Appreciate the comment my guy and the information
Crashes mainly happen at the start as they are all fighting to gain the best track position on the racing line and no one wants to back down
Ahaha you are the boss bruh Greetings from France !
First corner is always pretty congested. The field of cars is all together and the red mist of battle has fallen. Some tracks are more notorious than others.
Holy crap, I expected the 2013 crash would bring out the double-waved yellows at the minimum, possibly even warranting a red-flag.
Nope. Single-waved yellow... Pure insanity.
The biggest crash that I've seen is Grosjeans's crash in Bahrein a year ago.
you must be young
Around the year 2000 the cars were beasts. They got massive engine power and were faster than 2023's.
Record 369 or 370+km/h without DRS.
Just a freaking show
8:30 He won that very Grand Prix next year 💪
I am currently binge watching you guys, lol.
Absolutely loving these formula 1 reactions, you need to react to best team radio compilation of formula 1, if you haven't already.
Definitely get into Formula 1 like for real, watch it every weekend it's on for yourselves. Intensity and drama, no other sport is dramatic and intense like Formula 1. I promise.
I can't wait till this summer break ends, I miss it so much.
It's Ferrari vs Red Bull this season. It would be closer if Ferrari didn't have technical issues and some crazy strategies. Verstappen has a healthy lead at this moment in the championship.
Lewis doesn't have as good as car this season. But great thing about formula 1, things can change quickly.
Cheering for Max Verstappen for sure. Wish Lewis could get into the mix this season, thou. It's unlikely, but you never know.
healthy lead lol , championship is pretty much done haha. Agreed on the rest tho
in the second clip the guy in red was the guy in blues brother hence the love
The safety cells the drivers are sitting in are incredibly strong. Other parts of the car like the nose cone are designed to crumple and absorb a lot of the kinetic energy. The wheels have steel cables attached so that it can't easily fly off into the crowd like they used to. The biggest problem is the ridiculous G forces the body goes through when decelerating from 150mph + down to zero in a few seconds or less. 9 times out of 10 the driver walks away intact. ✌️♥️🇬🇧
2014, there was actualy a bigger crash with Jules Bianchi. Sadly he couldnt survive it.
maxs radio from that singapore gp is too funny
Watching this makes me feel bad for the engineers all there work broken into pieces.
The spin outs are due to various factors that result in loss of traction or aerodynamic downforce
Big crashes only happen like once a year or so but drivers making contact and bumping into each other happens like every weekend like multiple times, but due to most tracks having gravel traps they don’t crash, and there is roughly 6 hours of on track time during the whole weekend so collisions are going to happen eventually
In the 2008 Glock incident you can clearly see in the first clip that his left-rear suspension broke going over the kerb, nothing he could have done to avoid that spin
You should watch a „how to master the … circuit“ from Nico Rosberg. There you can see, how much goes into a perfect lap and what the driver really have to do while driving.
My gosh Fernando is in everywhere.
Thankfully big crashes are few and far between .
Check out Belgium Grand Prix 98 . It don't show up on many competitions .
Have you guys reacted to Grosjean fireball crash, I watched it live on TV and it felt like a lifetime waiting for news, it really is one to watch drive to survive give a good idea of how it felt to watch live and it gives the first hand accounts of all involved as well as playing the radio messages that happened during the whole thing
That costed a lot of money for those minutes. I just read an article where they had estimated the cost of a F1 car. They calculated the cost for each part and put it together. They ended up around 20 million USD. And that didn’t include the development of the cars if I understood it correctlu. The teams often doesn’t say much about the cost for each car. Financial times looked at the cost to repair the cars though and for Schumacher you did aee in the clip they repaired the cars for 6 million USD in one of his years as a driver.
the control of the cars is on a knife edge and a momentary lapse can result in crashing
The majority of crashes happen in lap 1 turn 1. The cars are all grouped together initially thus driving slower so its easier to pass for multiple positions if you have an open line. The cars are also prone to flipping if the wheel on one car touches the wheel of another car. They are gripping and moving towards each other while spinning so quickly that it just flings the car thats behind (typically) into the air.
Or race restarts
Not only in F1, the NASCAR, and IndyCar racing, someone might get hurt, maybe two people at the most a year, Unlike the way it used to be 20 years ago. More people get hurt in NFL and NBA than in F1.
Thing about open wheelers is that when you catch another car's wheels you're going to take off.
So, it's extremely rare, like, you can count the amount of times it happened on one hand-rare, but sometimes drivers do crash on each other on purpose. Whenever it happens, they're punished very harshly, though. Michael Schumacher, for example, crashed into Jacques Villeneuve, his championship rival, in the last race of the 1997 season in an affort to make him retire from the race, giving the championship to Michael, and he was promptly disqualified, not from the race, but from the entire season.
This seems a lot of crashes in a decade but you have to know that there are like 18 races each season. The safety measures constantly get more strict so nothing happens, of course you cant always be sure . It does happen every now and then but nowadays it is relatively safe.
I wanna see u guys on last year silverstone, monza, grojean from 2020 and this year silverstone and Schumacher
By the way, if you draw a straight line from the top of the front of the intake manifold to the top of the front of the safety cell, you will see that at no point does the driver's head even come within 6 inches from interrupting that line. Even if a driver was yanked six inches out of the car (which is physically impossible due to the design, the only way that could happen is if you literally ripped the driver in half from the waist up) their head would still not touch the ground while inverted...
Now if there was already debris on the track in the path of the driver's head then you could have seen head injuries that way in the past, but since the start of the 2018 season that chance is much lower due to the HALO system.
It's not the number of crashes that make a driver quit racing, It's the severity as that crash you have to weary about. Dale Earnhardt Jr. In NASCAR is a good example, he retired because of multiple traumatic brain injuries (concussions). He had another eight to ten years left in his driving career but chose to step away so he could be around his kids when he's older.
Can you guys maybe react to the last race of 2021? It’s the greatest race in modern F1. The best experience is watching the full race or the race in 30 minutes on F1 TV.
The ericcson crash was complete brake failure. Later traced to a defective hydraulic brake balance regulator seal that allowed brake fluid to be forced out under pressure. This allowed air to be drawn into the pipes preventing the remaining fluid from circulating correctly causing system wide loss of the brakes
Ehh, it was a DRS failure, not brake failure
@@Fons.s the drs was an additional factor the brakes were the secondary cause as ericcson later confirmed himself. As he had reported that issue at his prior pitstop
@@christopherrobertson8098 really? I never heard about that
@@Fons.s it was a short update a couple races later prior to a free practice session for the following gp on sky TVs f1 channel during a quick chat with martin brundle. Ericcson revealed that the component responsible for both failures had been redesigned to prevent a recurrence.
@@Fons.s the drs was affected due to it being linked to the hydraulic system to assist the drs flap electric actuator in opening the flap as alfa romeo were one of 4 teams running a hydraulically assisted drs system to reduce the usage of electrical current taken from the kers battery to power the drs
Spa is always good for a massive pileup. About the only thing worth watching F1 for
They happen of varying degree quite often. These of course are the most extreme (excluding some). But with the safety of F1 it's more expensive than dangerous. Honestly CTE in the NFL is far more concerning health wise.
Motorsports without audio, great idea!
Sorry family the volume got mess up
17:33 he wasn't able to stop, he was in a gravel trap, a part of the circuit filled with gravel, or sand eventually, in which cars slow down massively, designed for safety matters
Yeah man, this shit be crazy 😳
These crshes before 2018 were bad and the drivers were lucky to escape unharmed . From 2018 onwards the cars have the halo device which is good because it saves the driver's life and keeps them safe
5:00 Those images are in slow motion, in reality everything seemed faster and more terrifying.
The seats protect the drivers spines and they added a halo above the drivers head which is strong enough to carry fire trucks
The cars should be made allot smaller, the size is to big compared to decades ago
The music is driving me crazy!
I think it very good from the compilation makers not to include Bianchis crash in any of these. He died after being in a coma after the crash he had. I watch F1 almost every race live for like 20+ years thanks to my dad but man its hard to watch
Man each time i hear lil baby his music im thinking of you guys 😂😂
you guys should streamreacting to a live race
You should check out the weirdest crash I have ever seen at roughly the start of the first race of the Seoul Formula E race that was on last Saturday! I won't spoil it for you but it really was WTF!
Ahhhhh. You didn't have Grosjean's big fireball of a crash in here. That really deserves it's own reaction video though.

18:48 well that happened in F2, one driver got killed, one is facing a long time injury
Prix is pronounced how we would say “pre” ex: pre tense/ past tense 👍🏻😂

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but it is pronounced "Grahn Pree" and "grand pricks". I have a suggestion for a crash to react to. It wasnt even during the race, but in fact during Q3 qualifying. Felipe Massa 2009 Hungary. A crash that is even rarer than the ones seen in this video.

"Pree" not prix. Just a heads up.
I haven’t seen this edit before, but it seems like almost all of these (Alonso at Australia for example) are only shown in slow motion. You’re not able to get an idea of how fast they’re actually moving. Maybe show it once slow, but all angles that way seems dumb to me.
Not the same without F1 commentary for some context on what is happening.
Robert Kubica survived but his left arm is useless now. He cant use his left arm because of this crash.
