- This was easily the best trout fishing that I have seen for many years in my area. It was just wonderful to see so many hungry and willing trout.
As with any waterway that have an abundance of trout, the average size is usually smaller because there are so many mouths to feed.
When I was young bloke back in the 1980s and 1990s this sort of trout fishing was common in North East Victoria.
Make sure you stay tuned for my fly fishing video filmed on this same day, due to be released exactly 24 hours after this video.

Great video
Thanks mate. haha You just never know when that may happen.
As long as you meet Robbie on your way out after you’ve caught all the fish first 🤣

What a ripper Robbie! The videos that have some good tips and explanations are the ones I enjoy the most. Having your feet in that cool clear water must have helped keep you cool on what was obviously a pretty warm day. The scenery was magnificent.
Thanks Damian. The water was lovely and cool. What a beautiful area that really is, just amazing. Gods country mate.
A BIG thumbs up from me an awesome video, what a lovely almost secret spot, loved it mate, I could feel the excitement.
Thanks so much mate. I'm pretty sure that the term "Gods country" was invented in this valley.
At 12.20 when you were showing that footprint...look at fish bolting upstream from that bright rock...sneaky these trout! Great vid as usual robbie! Thanks!
haha Sure was Trevor. Well spotted.
I just started watching your videos. You do a great job cause you keep it interesting

@@robbiefishing Robbie “got him” fishing 😂 my pleasure mate! Would love to collaborate on a video some day if I gain a few more followers
only just realised how rocky and uneven the river is. I would fall over all the time. Great stike rate as well. Congrats
Thanks mate. I sure do have a history of falling over all the time. LOL
That water was so clear it was amazing to see. The fish were so easy to see! I was waiting for you to mention about the fish that got spooked at 12:22 when you were talking about secondhand water. Great to see such a healthy waterway. 🎣👍
Thanks Adam. There sure were a lot if fish in the creek. If you look closely theres actually a number if fish swimming past while I am talking at various times. Haha
LOL, Adam, I just made the same comment.
Was going to point that out also. Looked like a 30cm model
Sounds like a lot of good fresh bait around
Wow, what a day mate, that was amazing. Can't wait for the next video.
Thanks so much mate. Tomorrow nights video is in the same creek, but with a dry fly.
Awesome
Great fishing Robbie, hoping to do some more trout fishing like this after cod seasons next year 👍
Thanks so much mate.
HEY YOU! Another good video! Clear water! and I now have Cicadas singing in my head! HA
haha Thanks Trevor. Remember that song Agadoo "Agadoo doo doo push pineapple shake the tree".... Well I would much rather have the cicadas stuck in my head. LMAO
Awesome video mate nice spot
Hey Brad thanks heaps mate.
That creek with the fly rod, would be sooooooo good! Awesome video as usual mate!
Thanks Shane... Stay tuned at 7pm tomorrow night mate. LOL After I filmed this I walked back to the car, had some lunch, then drove a kilometre or two upstream and got back into the creek.,.. with my fly rod! They went nuts over my dry fly.
@@robbiefishing hahahah, i could imagine mate, long leader and small dry fly. Would be dream time! Looking forward to seeing you in action! 🤙
Hey, Robbie, thanks for the great video, mate! That made my day way better ☺️ can you please share more details about how you fish with the soft plastics. I usually use them for Perch, but not in streams.
Cheers from Bulgaria!
Hi Dimitar, thank you so much for your kind words. I will definitely try to ensure that I am mentioning what I am doing. I do mention it often so you may find plenty of tips in some of my older videos.
What was that taking off through the water at 12:22? It seemed really dark, but really fast! Good to see the trout so fired up for you mate, bloody beautiful fish as well. Spewing you came onto that second hand water but at least the lure change got them biting again! Great video.
Thanks buddy. Yep it was a trout. There's actually a few of them spooking off in this video. LOL
That Zoleo could be a life savor. Great idea to carry that .
Thanks mate it certainly helps me feel safe.
its late november and 4c in northern ireland and my trout seasons over 😢😢 thank the good lord for robbie alexander 👍👍👍👍
Thanks so much for your kind words mate. WOW 4c is quite extreme. Do you get snow where you live?
@@robbiefishing yeah mate we usually get a good dusting of it every year plus a week or 2 sub zero temps in jan/feb time not to mention getting batterd by atlantic winds most of the winter lol i wouldnt mind you throwing some of that summery weather our way robbie lol 😂😂
Great looking water Robbie
Thanks Michale. It sure is a beautiful spot.

Hi mate thank you so much for your wonderful comment.
Great video
Thanks heaps mate.
Good video Robbie
Thanks so much mate.
Awesome bro 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Thanks so much Kano.
Cicadas are having a party up in that bish lol. Great job on the trout slaying em lately. With the waterproof thingy I think you can shake the Hero 7 to get rid of the water.
Hey champ thanks for the heads up, I will try that. It annoys me how the audio is crap for 5 minutes after I hold the camera underwater. LOL
Looks like a amazing place looks so scenic. Looks like you had a great run with those wild trout. Looking forward to your cod videos soon
Thanks mate. Me too, I am absolutely busting to go cod fishing again.
Man this guy is good
Thanks Karson... I will tell him. hahahaha
Beautiful water. Go close to some NSW & TAS streams!
Thanks mate it sure is beautiful. Maybe not so beautiful by Christmas time though unfortunately.
@@robbiefishing Yeah, water gets COOKED!
looked great in HD especially with all the noise from the local inhabitants
Thank you so much mate.
Goodonya m8. How good is that creek? Such an iconic Aussie scene. It could be anywhere over a 2000k strech or more. Great to see you nailing them mate, Cheers Ribbie.
Thanks heaps VB. Sure is one of the best mate. Gods country.
Bravo care
I love ya adventures Robbie ! Nothing better than exploring an finding pristine trout waters ! Good on you ! Btw do you use braid or mono ?
Thanks so much mate. I use 4lb mono straight through to the lure. There are links in the video description to the stuff that I use mate.
Were they cicadas or Rohan's damned bells Robbie? Maybe you need a cicada lure this time of year? What a spot and great action - so that was an impatience cast near the end??
hahahaha Impatience cast. haha Love it! LOL Yep.. I didn't even take my time to get my balance. hahaha
Great video Robbie. Could you please detail your gear setup? Regards!
Thanks Jack... Already done mate. There are links to all of the gear that I used in the video description.
love ya Robbie.
Thank you mate.
Fantastic video Robby ! Would you know any good trout spots near the Daylesford area? There’s not many streams except the Lerderderg River but that drys up so I’m not too sure if it holds fish.
Thanks mate. I do not know that area at all unfortunately, sorry mate.
@@robbiefishing all good Robbie might have to do some exploration.
Fantastic weather and super clear water while catching plenty of trout. Life get any better mate? 🤔
Thanks mate you're not wrong. After this I had my lunch and then climbed in further upstream with my fly rod....
What stream were u in..I'm gonna try cudgegon river near mudgee
This is what it’s all about!
Thanks mate, you're not wrong. Just magnificent.
Nice video. What was that device you used to send a ping?
Hey rob what rod you using in this video mate thanks
Nice location, cool video.
Which fish do you catch for eating purpose?
Love your shows Robbie..... ever thought about fishing barbless?
Thanks Jon. I have tried it but didn't like it. I kept dropping too many fish. LOL
@@robbiefishing keep your line tight. More hook ups, easier to release and easier to release yourself 🤣😂
Hey Rob, just a question.... what time is it there...im having troble on my day time fishing..also what gram weght lure are you using...thank you for great vids
Hi mate thanks for the comment. This was filmed mid to late morning. Approx 10am to 12pm. I had lunch when I got back to my car before going fly fishing. The jighead was (from memory) 1/16 oz.
Need advice on a spinning rod for trout. I'm leaning towards an atomic arrowz 1-3kg but not sure if I should go for 6ft or 7ft. Thoughts?
Hey buddy, short rods for small streams long rods for larger rivers.
I use a 6’6” for trout fishing like this and wouldn’t want to use anything longer when I am weaving through trees and scrub...
Aaah, may need a vodka and orange 🍊. Lol 😆. Cheers Robbie.
hahaha Or just a straight vodka. LOL
maybe even chuck a snake bit kit in your bag robbie they are quite small and very effective if you have no choice but to walk out to help
Hey mate great idea. I actually have one floating around here somewhere.
Hey Robbie is there any subscription for the Zoleo? Where do ya get one from? Ya may have covered it in other videos I might have missed
Hey mate you can buy them from Trellys in Shepparton or from their website.
www.trellys.com.au/?ref=i68jzcdpol2e
There is a subscription. From memory the cheapest is $20 per month. That gives you a small number of texts and is great for safety. The deerest is $80 per month and that give you unlimited texts. I will see if I can find links to the reviews that I have done on them mate. I will post them here if I can find them.
Hey mate here is the full review that I filmed a while back.
One thing that I don't think I mentioned is that you can park the Zoleo for something like $6 per month.
So you use it for 3 months, and then you can park it which means you number and account stay active and as soon as you're ready to go away you can fire it back up.
Here is the review:
czcams.com/video/WHQUv8V3ibI/video.html
@@robbiefishing awesome. Thanks for the extra info Robbie. They seem like a great unit 👍🏼
I don’t know if this is just me but parts of this river look like the howqua river what do you think Robbie?
Sure does mate.
The biggest tip would be how to get to those locations. Location is everything when fishing, some areas have virtually no fish, others are packed with fish. No amount of lure changing will make a bad fishing spot become good. The best thing to do is to try to find good spots, by exploring, which obviously you do a lot.
I utitlise bing and google satellite view in order to find areas. If I didn't have these available, I really wouldn't have any idea where to go, because the most common areas everyone knows about, like under the local bridge etc, all are horrible, since people are there all the time and fish never settle there to live as a result.
Spot on mate, location is absoljtepy everything. It doesn't matter what you're using if there's no fish in the creek.
a few fish mate, was that the creek we talked about last yr?
I think so mate.
With the qualifier that trout is a catch and release fish for me as well, I am curious as to why you never keep any for a feed. Fresh trout (wild or hatchery raised) is hard to beat as food.
haha Thanks Robert. Catch and self release. LOL I use to keep a few trout from streams but as trout stocking is very limited these days and the fish are left to fend for themselves I prefer to release them. This creek has a healthy population and could certainly sustain a fish harvest, but unfortunately most of the streams in my area are not as good as this one.
Hey robbie have you ever thought about fly fishing these creeks 👌
Hey mate, as soon as I finished this video, I walked back to my car and had lunch. I then drove upstream a couple of kilometres and got back in with my fly rod. That video will be published tomorrow night at 7pm.
Been loving your trout vids. Can you tell me what rod and reel you were using mate? Cheers
Thanks mate. There's links too all of the stuff that I was using in the video description buddy. 👍👍
Cheers mate the link takes me to a wildbait site is that where rod came from? Bye the way absolutely cracking underwater footage.
@@cameronflint9187 Hey mate it sure is. I am unsure whether they still sell rods though. The rod is a wildbait stick, but I do not know if they still sell them.
Your making me homesick bob 😩
Sorry Elvis. I am sure you will get down here fishing again.
@@robbiefishing as much as i miss the waters up there mate vic is ancient history to me ❤️
hi robbie must say great video. whats your PB trout
Thanks so much Lily. My PB is 62cm.
Where do you get those alert/notification things from? Cheers 👍🤠
Thanks Mick. They are one if those things that you don't use all the time, but can save your life. They're a subscription based thing.
You can buy them on the Trellys website, and from memory you need to go to the Zoleo website to register and activate it.
@@robbiefishing thanks mate I think it's worth it. Cheers 👍🤠
Now THAT'S a trout stream!
Sure is a gem UF.
@@robbiefishing Yep! Looks like it!
Great tips, Robbie! Where did you buy the SOS device?
Thanks Jim, mine was sent to me earlier in the year to film a product review for them, however I continue to use it at my discretion because it gives me peace of mind when I am in remote areas. You can buy then at a number of places, but Trelly's sell them online:
www.trellys.com.au/collections/satelite-communication?ref=i68jzcdpol2e
And here is the Zoleo website where you can find out information and choose a plan. The plans are not locked in. After 3 months you can park the Zoleo for a small fee, something like $6 per month I think which means it is inactive but you do not lose your number when you are ready to head out again.
www.zoleo.com/en-au/plans/
If you search "robbiefishing Zoleo" You should be able to find my review on it. There's actually 2, an overview and a review. I hope this helps mate.
Thanks! That’s really helpful. My phone doesn’t work in plenty of great fishing spots in the North Carolina mountains. I’m going to look into getting a Zoleo.
My pleasure Jim. Sorry mate I should have remembered you were from the US.
They are actually very popular in Canada. They may even have originated from there. There's quite a few American videos on them mate. Look them up. 👍👍
You should make a kayak fishing tips video?
Thanks mate, I will be for sure. I have new roof racks on order. At the moment I have no roof racks, but once they arrive I will be doing a lot more kayak fishing.
Great news keep up the great work 🎣🎣🎣
We fuckin like that chieftain. Keep slayin' em my man!
12:22 - "There's no fish in second hand water" as you spook a fish next to the footprint 😂😂😂Check to the left of the rod. I thought it was the lure swinging on first look, but reviewed it and definitely appears to be a fish headed upstream.
hahaha Yeah I know that's hilarious. LOL It's not that there's no fish, the problem is that the fish that are there do not like to bite. LOL
@@robbiefishing Yeah, Pressure on the water sure puts the bite off.
Do you guys get wild rainbows and broonies down unda. We occasionally catch rainbows here in the wild but those are just escapees from fish farms or people thats put them in the water ways. Crackin days fishing buddy
Hi mate we sure do. I reckon 99% of the trout that I catch on my channel are wild. They were stocked originally, but not for a long time. Stockings do take place in some lakes and sometimes the trout may or may not be stocked in those areas, but in these streams most of them are wild mate.
@@robbiefishing best of both worlds eh. Cheers mate tight lines
Do u ever catch and cook🤔🤔
12;23, theres a fish that swims off right beside your lowest rod guide
haha He made a cameo appearance. LOL
@@robbiefishing are those trout naturally breeding in those streams
How do they taste? I'm thinking you'd need a few for a feed.
They taste OK mate but not as nice as a redfin or yellowbelly.
@@robbiefishing they rave about them overseas but I'm not sure I'd give them a go.
Anyone know what size gear he was using?
Hi mate, there are heaps of links in the video description to all of the gear I was using.
@@robbiefishing I was mainly curious about the rod but it says "missing in action" hahah? I'm going trout fishing at Jameson this weekend and my lightest gear is a 6lb 6ft rod with 6lb line, haven't been able to find a 5ft rod anywhere which is what I'd love to take
LOL.Sorry mate I didn't notice that. Haha I just checked that the links were there but didn't check properly. LOL
Jameson this weekend? Just so you know, trout season is closed buddy. It doesn't open until December.

The real question is “ where’s Mitch gone too?”
Hey mate I have been wondering the same thing to be honest.
