"Who would be the best leader" seems like a lore-heavy question. Not as important as Chaos vs Order, but maybe in the lines of Callie vs Marie. This seems like it's gonna affect Deep Cut's future though that's just my personal speculation.
I 100% agree because why is it coming so eraly is only one year. I feel like this is a deep cut breakup arc bc someone will always say "according to the splatfest" I am the leader

Though, wouldn't a Splatfest like this be reserved to a future time, when Nintendo could be planning already a new game in the franchise and the game by itself had a good run time? I don't think it could be as lore heavy as it may seem, just a interesting idea for the 1 year anniversary of the game.
Though, I'm saying as someone who never played the game and don't know how things happened in the community and the games by itself, so I could be wrong. Would be interesting if it is lore heavy and next game the winner ends up leaving Deep Cut or maybe they disband for some reason and the winner is the only one keeping Deep Cut alive. Would be interesting.

I'll be playing for Frye. In story mode she seems to already play the leader-esque role. She speaks before the others, is the only of the 3 who correctly uses the smoke bomb to escape, and leads multiple eels. Even attempting to negotiate for the "treasure".
From that, to me, it already feels like Frye has taken the leadership role.
"Who elected you leader? ...So about those schemes..." I don't know why I can remember Frye quotes so well.
And also she says “join MY crew”

Frye is Easily the best leader of the 3. She was the acting leader during the storymode and was the loudest of the 3. She was the only one of the 3 to try invite you to join Deep Cut, meaning that she is open to suggestions and communicating as a team player. Her choice for the Zelda splatfest was wisdom because she recognizes that she has power and courage, but she personally wants to continue growing as an individual. Those are all really good traits of being a leader!
For the other 2, Shiver is genuinely far too self-centered to be a good leader. She also constantly blamed Master Mega for her failure in combat. She chose power and money because those two options were the self options. Big Man is the more ethical of the 3, but he lacks a lot of courage, hence his choice for the zelda splatfest. Additionally, he doesn't want to be in the spotlight, that's why he he used a pseudonym when collaborating with the squid sisters.
This describes their choices in the Zeldafest so on-point

I feel like people seem to discredit/ignore the Influence and POWER the Japanese player base has in swaying the results, not only voting, but actual participation. I think the reason Team Money won was primarily because of the Recession Japan and the World are going into. This Splatfest is primed for the Japanese player base to go full Otaku with their 'Oshi' of choice (*Oshi, The word refers to one's favourite idol, character or group.) And Shiver seems to be the leading Oshi among Japan players.

Callie vs Marie decided who got captured by Octavio in S2 and Chaos vs Order decided the thene of S3 so my guess is the final fest is gonna be Squid Sisters vs Of the Hook vs Deep cut since they all have an important role in this game. SS in the story mode, OTH in Side Order and DC with the news and story mode as well

@@dhdjenejjs by the time we reach the final fest all 3 idol groups will have in game models assuming that Side Order will give you a playable Inkopolis Square like the Wave 1 dlc gives you Plaza. This means they can have each idol group represent themselves which would imo be a better send off than just deep cut since this game is the end of a trilogy.

Ngl feeling very tempted to go Shiver to get a win.. So I don't think you're completely wrong, but I also don't think its the majority's reason to pick her. I think a lot of people also like her design better, like her singing more, her color being blue also helps, and she has a bit of a girlboss attitude (I know that word is memed a lot but I actually think it describes her well).
And I'm part of those people too. I overal like her better for several reasons. _but_ I'm quite annoyed with power and money winning, and in those splatfests I also didn't like her reasoning (very selfish). So I would prefer Frye or Big man winning this one.

Shiver i think is a bit too confident in herself, she is nto actually their leader, there's even dialogue from Frye that's like "Woah, who elected you leader?" (i think that was a subtle foreshadowing to this fest too !!)
Frye makes sense to me because she's the loudest, she's ALWAYS the closest to the camera in Alterna, makes the perfect exit, has an army of eels,,,, Plus i think her personality just fits for this role, i know she doesn't want to be bossy but she knows how to encourage her friends
Big man is too anxious for this role imo, he does write the songs but I don't think he WANTS to be in the spotlight
And Shiver,,, idk she just doesn't suit the role in my head, i feel like she makes alot of bad decisions when upset, and she even blames others for her mishaps(she does this w Mastermega in Storymode, i know she wasn't trying to be mean but sjhdj)

Right!!! Something interesting I've found is how deep cut follows a common trope found in a lot of children's media. You have the leader (Frye) the girl of the group (shiver, despite there being two girls on deep cut) and the big and silly and slightly insecure comedic relief (big man)
Shiver feels like she would take far too much power, make everything almost ‘in her image’- while Frye is a good balance of silly and serious, making her a good fit for the leader role. She would make a good environment for people while still keeping things orderly. Big man is a silly goober, but I feel like he wouldn’t establish any sort of real leadership. As much as I love him, he’d be nervous and just do whatever people tell him, leading to the *wrong* kind of chaos. Dangerous chaos. No real authority. Frye is a good balance of both
To sun it up,
Shiver- Likely a toxic leader, not horrible but would probably put herself first over the people
Frye - Pretty good leader, would try her best to account for everyone while still making the decisions.
Big Man - overly laid-back, not much of a backbone for leadership. He wouldn’t “consider the people” as much as just let them tell him what to do out of pressure.

the funny fact is that because there were so many team love players, they got a ton of mirror matches and each one lead to a net zero change in score, so the splatfest didn't accurately represent the team if there were no mirror matches and it was strictly team vs team. So if too many people pick shiver, then it could lead to different team winning

I’m picking Frye for two reasons:
She’s the only one that uses the “team rocket’s blasting off again” bomb correctly.
She’s the most difficult to beat with only curling bombs.

@@walmensypalheta5364 I’ve been trying to beat all three members of deep cut with only curling bombs. Big man is fun and not too difficult or easy. Shiver just takes a while. Frye is legitimately difficult. You should try it. Tip: after toppling her once, the amount of masked eels will drastically reduce to 1 2 or 3 eels depending on which phase you’re on. Just try not to die after that or else you’re back to trying to take down like 10 of them. Do not try to take down the eels during Moray whirlpool. Just don’t.

I think the final fest would honestly be either Deep Cut vs. Off the Hook vs. Squid Sisters OR Splatlands vs. Inkopolis Square vs. Inkopolis Plaza, with each team of idols being on their own team/location. I think it would be so cool to see all of the idol groups in Anarchy Splatcast and all of them singing new splatfest songs together. It would truly make for a special final fest, one that we have never seen before.
I am on Team Frye to due I rewatched the deep cut cutscenes on CZcams to give me an idea who should be the leader I do like to see between Frye or bigman to win I am A fan of Shiver but I felt like one of these two need a chance to win a second time this year.

aight, imma do a recap of the three of them about their skills as a leader :
Shiver : shows her dominance and authority over others, but doesn't really show her commanding others (except her shark, but that doesn't count)
Frye : can command an army of eels, is a treasure hunter (more than shiver) and is very determined to get what she wants, doesn't hesitate to challenge someone.
Big man : just a good fella who obeys to shiver and frye and has no authority over others, but is always watching over shiver and frye to make them remember what is right
To conclude this, it seems like frye is the most suited for the position of being a leader (in a "true leader" aspect), or big man in a "rightful leader" kind of aspect
If you pick shiver this time, it won't be for the theme, you're legit simping ngl

that's dumb to reduce all people who prefer certain leadership qualities as a simp. this is coming from someone who's probably picking frye. you're pretty much encouraging sweeps to happen, which takes away from the joy of a well matched splatfest. you are contributing to the toxicity, not preventing it. if people think shiver is the best leader, let them pick shiver. if people think frye is the best leader, let them pick frye. if people think big man is the best leader, let them pick big man. END OF STORY. everyone has different life experiences that will give them different opinions of leaders. at this point its a hivemind vs a hivemind with regular people liking different characters being caught in the toxicity and shamed for their choices.

@@supergamer2.091 im sorry if i came off as too aggressive. maybe it's me missing childhood, but i legit wish we could go back to the chill vibes splatoon 2 splatfests had, and it causes me to get pissed off at people (mainly shiver and big man fans) who blame the opposite side for the issues we have in this community, when it's this culture that we have to blame someone that causes it in the first place. this splatfest could serve as a turning point if people realize that this salty, blame culture does nothing but lower people for their choices, or it could be the final nail. while im glad splatfests are back, if it keeps getting more toxic, especially to the levels of the testfire last year, i don't think i want to be in this community anymore. i apologize for correlating you with this toxicity, it just hurts to see this community spiral further down into a cycle of toxicity, and perhaps i am buying too much into it.
I feel like the shiver issue is a mix of a couple things. One the game is getting older so a lot of the players are getting bored and dropping off leading to much bigger sweeps of a specific topic. A lot of these type of players that stick around are really really into the game and practically everyone who only picks because of the idols is either in that category or in a casual player who still plays but not as much as them . This also then ties into each idols popularity which from my experience Shiver seems to have a huge fan base in eastern regions leading to a much larger popularity dip between members where as in western regions it seems the idols are more evenly matched in their popularity. This then ties into my final point how all the points in splatfest are counted worldwide instead of regionally like previous games. This means that the split between teams choices can vary largely region by region but for the most part when a team has an overwhelmingly larger player base for one team in one region and another region has the same sort of team sweep going on in their region the two teams will never get the chance to fight since the servers are locked by region so the most popular choice will always end up getting duplicate battles. This doesn’t even take into account how much larger splatoon is in Japan having a much larger active playerbase than in the west.

Frye is the best leader. Her outgoing, strong and confident personality shines through when deep cut introduces first introduces themselves. She is more "on your face" when squidbeak splatoon first meets them, which is something leaders usually do. She's definitely the strongest one seeing how she can spin an entire machine just by dancing
While commanding an army of eels while playing the flute. Shiver is a strong contender too but Frye takes the cake. Big man is just there being honest, showing submission by saying stuff like "The other two will get mad at me if i don't fight back" so, team Frye it is

I have no clue what team I want to be on for this splatfest. I love all of Deep Cut and could honestly see all of them leading well, but I also feel like they work best as a team without a leader (one of their songs is literally called Anarchy Rainbow)!
I'm terrified that the final fest is going to be Squid Sisters vs Off the Hook vs Deep Cut, because I will end up in this exact same situation where I can't decide...

I am going Tam Big Man. I know Shiver will more than likely win but I dont care. I believe Big Man would be a good leader. He is canonically the current leader of his clan and dance dojo, is kind yet can be firm when needing to be, and is very level headed. Not to mention he is the most likely to consider the other members ideas.
I bet this splatfest will end with them realizing that Marie, at the end of the day, is their boss that THEY hired because of HER comanding presence lol
I’ll be team Frye!!! She is not only my favorite character of the three, but like many other comments point out, she FEELS like the best leader. While Shiver ACTS like a leader, she really isn’t. I’m going for Big Man because he’s my favourite idol in Deep Cut, being the first non playable species to be an idol and also having a really cool reference bossfight in the story mode.
As for what idols I have picked in previous Splatfests I have been on Shiver’s team twice (Money and Nessie), Big Man’s team 3 times (Mint Chip, Water and Scissors) and O have been on Frye’s team the other 4 times (Grub, Wisdom, Sweet, Milk Chocolate)
I realistically should go team Shover having a 100% wi rate whenever I’ve been on her team but I’m gonna go for Big Man hype squad

Shiver seems like she wouldn’t want to be the leader as she quickly offered the boss to marie, and big man is too nice to be commanding. Frye, on the otherhand, has her positive personality that can attract everyones attention. And she also leads like, 100 Eels! So im on frye :F

I was thinking about going with Shiver since I've got a feeling she might win but I'm going with my gut for once and I'm choosing team Frye! But actually this is going to be an interesting splatfast I can't wait to see what will happen!
Lore wise I think Frye is the best choice, she is the first one you fight, she tries to negotiate with you and does the more talking for the 3, she’s also the one with a splatoon 1 and 2 boss, controls a lot of eels. Frye is more talented tbh. She balances on a the stomp cube thing, plays an instrument lol. Shiver could never she’s too bossy and doesn’t do much on her battle. Anyways Frye is the best choice here shiver too much of a try hard and thinks she’s all that. Big Man is too sweet and very kind. Frye has the balanced personality here to be a leader 💯💯 Team Frye all the way!

Shiver seems to be more of a leader on the idol side of things, while Frye is more the leader of treasure hunting missions (and Big Man's just there lol)

Yeah,Frye is confident in story mode but she isn't in splatcast because she's Infront of cameras.Shiver keeps her prescense throughout BOTH of them so she's a good option!

a cool final fest could be like a territory fest, splatsville vs inkopolis square vs the splatlands or even possibly squid sisters vs off the hook vs deep cut. i think that would be interesting but it also raises the question of who would be on which team
I wonder if money winning instead of love this time around is from:
a) people like shiver
b) people wanted a different outcome than the last money v. love ones
or c) the splatoon demographic has grown up into their sad late teens/early adult years and is slowly encroaching into jaded grumpy territory.

frye would be the best leader... heres why. (no hate to other teams)
1. Frye is the perfect leader out of three, while shiver is money and power hungry, big man is too mushy and softhearted as well.
2. frye has been positioned to be the leader, as during the story mode dialogue, she wasnt offering the position as the boss, and she ws confident. if u were the best leader u would not be giving up ur spot.
3. shiver and big man are more clumsy, as frye did her escape in her boss fight more coordinated. also shiver beats master mega.. not really leader activities.
I wonder if this might possibly affect a future DLC wave (banking on theory that we’re getting 4 waves) since this seems a lot like how actual final fests have been. I wouldn’t be surprised if this determines one of the deep cut characters becoming the official leader in a story mode in the future or that character getting more ‘screen time’. Also I think the final fest is going to be either Squid Sisters vs Off The Hook vs Deep Cut OR something more story or thematic based maybe Sharks vs Salmon vs Sea Slugs and whichever wins gets turned into another ‘-ling’ species in Splatoon 4 *or* has the new storyline based around them in 4

I’d love to pick team shiver, but I think I might go for Frye. I’ve liked shiver from the start but I don’t want to be seen as one of ‘those’ shiver fans, Frye has not won many (I can’t remember if they’ve won at all actually) so I’d really like to support them and who knows, they actually might beat team shiver because of their amazing and funny personality! tbh you shouldn't pick a character based on the current cultural situation. if you like shiver and think she's the best leader, pick her. it really doesn't matter if she's overrated or not. being a contrarion just so you won't get attacked leads to misery and being a people pleaser. picking prompts based on the current viewpoint of most splatoon 3 players defeats the whole purpose, and is why sweeps like what we've seen happen.
i would take a bullet for big man any day. i feel like he doesn't get enough love - his design doesn't change for splatfests, he's BEHIND THE SCREEN during the news and is generally overshadowed by the more visually and lore-wise appealing shiver and frye. for the past year though, big man has been my favourite idol: i knew this splatfest would come

That’s actually wrong. In japan love still won back in the splatoon 1 days. And they only lost popularity by a minuscule ammount. I doubt Europe could be such a big game changer between both the splat 1 and 2 fests

Honestly we've always had an idol thats been "favored" more or less. Espcially in 2 with pearl & marina. I think the reason it feels so elevated thist time is cuz the team is done by 3, so theres more an opritunuty for favoritism (or perceived favoritsm) to be at play. The more you devide somethibg the more people may largely flock to one out of thr few after all.

I'm surprised they're giving us Splatfest and Big Run in the same month. It would be awesome if they made this a regular thing moving forward. Both sides of the splatoon community (pvp and salmon run) would have an event to look forward to every month.

I think Shiver would be Team Deep Cut because of their pride in themself and their team. Frye would be Off the Hook, not sure why but she just looks like she would choose that team. And Bigman would be Squid Sisters because they have some sort of connection (they made a song together and Big Man used the name “Ian BGM”

idk about anyone else, but I’m going for big-man because he’s a stingray- instead of everyone else being a octoling or a inkling. Also, he has played the smallest role compared to everyone else in the story AND is always shut up by shiver and Frye ALL the time, also in the news reports. So I think it would be a perfect fit for him to play his own role in the game, and a bigger one.

Considering Shiver's role in Splatoon 3, I agree with you on how this can be a bit unfair, but I'm not completely sure of who to pick, especially since I haven't played Splatoon 3's story mode yet (;-;). I’m choosing either Shiver or Frye. Shiver’s picks for the Splatfests seem good in my opinion. Money is HIGHLY important, and gear is the best option as it can help you get BOTH grub and games.
