    My friends have been telling me "Yea, but you can buy a DSLR or a Mirrorless camera for that price if you want to shoot photos", but they miss the point. I've had so many missed moments where I was like "I wish I had my camera with me". So, you made all my thoughts valid. Spot on!

      It’s a pain in the arse when you see something but your DSLR is stuck in your jeans pocket so you have to get scissors and cut your pants off to get the camera out then the moment has totally gone and now your pants are ruined…totally agree with you it’s amazing that you can have such a great versatile camera literally in the palm of your hand at any given moment…

    Printed, framed and hung on the wall by my cameras:
    "I don't like to tell you guys you need to buy the latest and greatest thing to make good work. I need you to learn how to do the things that you want to do instead of buying things hoping it will allow you to do the things that you want to do... The only way I got better as a photographer and as a filmmaker is by learning and practicing. And at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what camera I pick up and put in my hands. I am confident now because of all the things that I've learned and I've practiced that I will be able to take great images. It's not because I have the iPhone 13 Pro that I'm able to take good images. It's because I know how to take good images. So focus on learning instead of spending."

    • @impatrickt
      @impatrickt  Před 2 lety

      It's different - ProRAW is Apple's proprietary RAW processing that still uses computational photography (what makes iPhone photos so great) - If you use RAW with Halide on a non Pro model you lose all the benefits of computational and pretty much always end up with a crappier photo.

    Exactly the video I was looking for, thanks Patrick. Also, I totally feel with you regarding consumerism… it just feels wrong to just keep buying stuff, specially when those things break with only looking at them (replacing my 11 pro with the 13 pro because of a broken IBIS in the main camera…). I hope I can keep this one for 4 years or so.

    HI Patrick. Thanks for the video. Heard a story I think you'll appreciate though probably made up still makes a great point. - Ernest Hemmingway is introduce to Ansel Adams at a party. Hemmingway gushes about how much he loves Ansel's work, ending his complements with the question; "What kind of camera do you use?" Adams smiles, speaks of how much he's enjoyed several of Hemmingway's books, giving details on phrasing, settings and character development before asking, "What kind of typewriter do you use?"

    Cool video 👍 You say we have to learn. Okay. Would be great if you could make a video on how to film with an iPhone non pro (mine is the 12 mini). I searched the web, but, most of the time, they don't explain how (distance, angle, effects...) and don't show anything, except talking about gear (micros, add-on) lenses etc. I guess because of the affiliate links. Thanks

    On my 12 pro max I found that using the polar pro litechaser with their mist filter curbs the irritating lens flairs. Downside is it softens but it’s better than the UFO look 😊

      yeah I reviewed that litechaser. wasn't a fan but yes a mist will help but not much.
