As someone who took the final exam over "To Kill A Mockingbird" yesterday, I can confidently say it made no one uncomfortable.
It did make me uncomfortable when it was my turn to read it out loud and I had to say the Nword, I said I'm not saying it bc I don't wanna risk anything but I had a cover teacher who could hardly speak English and she threatened to send me out. That's probably the only time that book everade me feel uncomfortable
The book is a reflection of what life was like whenever that time was (been too long since I read it). If ANY book were to be pulled from making people "uncomfortable," it should be something akin to "The Kite Runner," though that book is a good book to read as well
It was very funny listening to my very unbelievably stereotypical white teacher say the n word many times, and for that I love the book

Teachers and school administrators are incapable of rational thought, I think . When Illinois legalized open carry, a sign was introduced for institutions and businesses (if they wanted to make clear guns were not permitted on premises) - a simple handgun with a circle and slash. School admins statewide went nuts about it, because depictions of weapons are not permitted on school property - and then justified their stupidity by doubling down, describing scenarios like an angry student being reminded by the sign that he has access to a gun he could bring to school, or students getting confused and thinking the sign meant guns were allowed in the school.
Knew a woman whose daughter was jumped by three boys in the girl's restroom at her high school. She fought them off and got out, found a teacher - and was promptly suspended for the same length of time as the three boys, for fighting.
I mean not all Egyptians are brown skinned either. Reminds me of someone who gave Night at the Museum flack for casting a “white guy” as King Tut. They casted Raimie Malek, an actual Egyptian.
@Sw00t_y PrD Pretty sure you're thinking of Nubians, which there were some in Egypt, but they were not originating in the Egyptian nation that built the pyramids. There is Greek documentation of the people of Egypt that states "All those who drink of the Nile north of Elephantine are Egyptian". This means that yes, there were tan people, some black and a few darker white such as the Jewish people among the slaves of every color as well. Even their statues and murals depicted the color of their pharoahs and slaves alike as a ruddy tan, not black.

Considering the sahara was jungle when the sphynx was built I cam buy that egyptians were black but during the time of the Pyramids racial demographics had shifted to what modern Egyptians today. Yes, there were black people in Egypt and yes, they didn't associate color with race back then but not everyone was black.
I just want to point out that Africa is a big ass continent, and has an enormous amount of human diversity.
Most of the slaves that were shipped to America where taken from a very concrete part of Africa, the aptly called 'Coast of Slaves' (because it was convenient for the sail ships of the era) where people were on average very dark.
But the truth is that Africa has almost every skin tone you can think of. People of North Africa (where Egypt is) aren't on average much darker that people of South Europe. South of Egypt was Nubia, that was part of Egypt in some periods of Egypt story. They were darker that their northern neighbours and lighter than their own southern neighbours, as expected.
I'm saying this because i read a lot things like 'There were white people in Egypt!' or 'There were black people in Egypt!' Those senteces have, sadly, almost no meaning. Clear cut divisions between black and white only happen when a group of very light skinned people move to a region of very dark skinned people, or when a group of very dark skinned people move to a region of very white people.

The Masked Singer is also originally a Korean show that started airing all the way back in 2015 under the name of "The King of Mask Singer" and was wildly popular which inspired the American version. Korea also happens to be a country where mask wearing was already completely normal when a person is sick or in very dense public areas. In my school we were reading about what being white was in slavery and how white people were abusing blacks and I told my teacher in feel uncomfortable reading such a negative and painful book and she said I was fine and everyone else didn't mind so I ended up sleeping during her class and didn't get in trouble....best nap I had in years even drooled a lil.
