    Customer support for Proxima is superior. They sent me a video of my watch on a timegrapher, with the lume, and of the watch in daylight before sending it to me. Absolute legends.

    I just purchased the Steeldive. After watching your review, even though I liked the Proxima, I think I made the righ choice. Your reviews are very good (you cover all the bases) and fair, and your after-thoughts are very informative. I'm liking your channel more and more.

      Overall I think it is the right choice if you're after a Tuna that is great value for money. Thank you for that detailed comment, I do generally try to give alot of thought to my review and like to add something which I personally have learnt or would like the subs to take away.

    As far as I know Proxima is more expensive at around 200$ and Steeldive is 130$. I think it's actually a huge difference, and while both of the watches are practically the same, I'd choose the cheaper, which in fact I did (I got my Steeldive Tuna for 100$ on a sale)

      I had one, pukka watch, looks like a proper Tuna and better in many ways than the £1,200 & £1,500 Prospex Tuna's. Definitely better looking than the "Street" versions too. You can mod the Tuna-Lite but thats added expense on an already £400 watch (that should be the same price as your Tuna) can't go wrong. I think their SW200 version is good value at £250 tho'.

    Steeldive can't compare with Proxima. I have yellow Tuna Steeldive and Proxima MM300. Overall impression that Proxima looks and feels much expensive, Steeldive have that cheap feeling and very sharp edges on watch and sharp edges on bracelet, nice dial, but for 100 dollars more you are getting much more quality from Proxima, with how it looks and feels on hands. When you look at the video, you can notice the difference.

    I want to like the Proxima but it's too shiny! Also what's with the bezel insert? Had the Steeldive for a while and after replacing the bezel insert for a non lumed with a pip I thought that was ok, especially given the price. These days I have a Seiko SNE 497 the Tuna-Lite, modded with stainless steel shroud and bezel insert plus a Strapcode President bracelet. My only non automatic diver. I've considered going all out for the Full Steel saturation diver Prospex but can't bring myself to spend £1,500 on a battery quartz. Great video as always.

  • @rs.p
    @rs.p Před 3 lety +2

    I love the channel and review, very detailed and informative. I'm a recent sub and have been following your channel a bit, really helped make smarter buying decisions in the homage watch market.
    For the sake of clarity -- These two watches represent two different Tuna designs (Proxima = SBBN007 and Steeldive = SBBN031) and should have been noted to be more accurate in why certain style features differ between the two watches (such as crown design, bezel insert and dial face). I actually wouldn't be cross shopping these two against each other, rather I'd try to find the best SBBN031 homage as that is the one I prefer (for example).
    Not a complaint by any means, just a note to say some of us are after very specific homages.
    Also, are any of the homages properly sealed for the depth rating? Or is it only for casual swimming only? (Something I've always wondered with these higher quality homages).

    • @TheWatcherReviews
      @TheWatcherReviews  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey, I love your comment and i think you've made a fair comment too. I will be honest as I can't keep up with the different styles of tuna out there, there are as much tuna variants from Seiko as there are homages to it. Specially when it comes to the Tuna, so I actually rely on enthusiasts like yourself to put their info into the comments. I've said that from early on in my reviews, I really enjoy having the type of subscriber base I have as they fill in any gaps in my knowledge.
      The reason for the comparison, most of us don't have a clue of which specific tuna this is homaging and it is just a tuna vs. Tuna. Rather than compare likeliness I try n focus on actual build quality differences. Stay subbed and feel free to add your input into the comments. I will be sure to mention any useful info in a next review.
      That being said I have another 2 Tuna's coming up, a homage and the real deal 1KM

      SBBN0331 is my favorite also.

    • @TheWatcherReviews
      @TheWatcherReviews  Před 3 lety +2

      I would say imagination, both dials are 28.5mm. The reason proxima looks smaller is because the crystal has a chamfered edge, therefore visually reducing the diameter slightly. The steeldive has no chamfer
