    I've driven plenty Panamera Gen 2 Models on the Autobahn (not only but like 80%) including the Turbo with 550HP and you can do 150mph with 2 fingers on the steering wheel with no issue. The whole car is stable like a maglev train, the ride quality is just something else. Whoever I see with such a car (or any other) Porsche I congratulate them and are happy for them.

Porsche SUVs are the "can do all" if you only really need 1 car. Panamera is great to drive on highway /autobahn, but in the city not so much. Finding parking space is really an issue and the maneuverability is meh. Cayenne is 15cm shorter.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT achieved 7:38min around Nürburgring, that's exact the same time as a 2006 911 Turbo, Lexus LFA or Lamborghini Gallardo. It's also faster than a 2004 Ford GT, Shelby Mustang GT500 or an Audi R8 V10 plus. Of course that's the top of the line model and most Cayenne are probably base models but compared against other base models they are usually faster (which doesn't matter to anyone who buys the base model). I’d say that it’s a competitor to a S8 and S63 AMG rather than M5 or E63 both size- and experiencewise. It’s over 5 meters long, has the even longer LWB version, has those small touches like stepless door opening. I definitely wouldn’t put it on the same notch with 5 series, E-class, A6 and their derivatives, it’s a top-notch product.

    • @jackholmes8105
      @jackholmes8105 Před 2 lety +12

      I talked to porsche about this. I understand it(panamera) was built to compete against the s class. That said i think due to its dynamics and size, specifically the normal and wagon variants its at the faster trim levels primarily shopped against the m5, rs6 and e63s.

    • @youngbrevy
      @youngbrevy Před 2 lety +9

      I was thinking the same thing, however I believe you can cross shop it against both S8/S63 and M5/RS6/E63’s of the world. The Porsche Panamera is like a Universal Luxury car that competes with everything on every level performance wise.

    • @dr-ok3sn
      @dr-ok3sn Před 2 lety +18

      @@jackholmes8105 come on that’s definitely not true. who is shopping a Panamera against the M5, RS6/7 or E/GT63S? the Panamera is much more expensive, even more expansive than the S-Class, 7-Series, A8, LS and Quattroporte. It’s available with a normal and long-wheelbase like the S-Class, 7-Series, A8. even as wagon cause Volkswagen always wanted to have a wagon in the upper class (Audi Avantissimo).
      the previous Panamera 970 even was on the same platform as the Audi A8 D3, VW Phaeton, first and second gen Bentley Continental GT, Continental Flying Spur, first gen Flying Spur!
      do you really think Bentley would build their cars on the same Modularer Standardantriebsbaukasten (MSB) platform as the 971 if it would compete with lesser cars like A6, 5-series, E-class and co? definitely not.
      and don’t say again "due to its dynamics and size", so what? It’s a Porsche, of course they are going to make the most dynamic one compared to the S-class and co, and the size isn’t so far off the normal wheelbase competitors from the upper class. the BMW 7-series also used to be a lil bit smaller and much more dynamic compared to the S-class, now they are not really different anymore because that’s what the market demands.

      @@jackholmes8105 agree and disagree at the same time - I believe that there are some people that would cross-shop those, but as you said - Panamera is a no drama car, while M5 and E63s kinda give some of that drama and that’s why I think it’s closer to a S8 or AMG S-class and I think that most of the clients for Panamera are looking for this smooth, no-drama swiss-army-knife-car experience, which Panamera delivers…
      … or at least I did while ordering Cayenne GTS (yes, the baller variant) - I didn’t even look at X5M Comp, even though it would be way faster and cheaper both in regards to sticker price and running costs, but it just can’t match Porsche refinementwise.

      I dunno. Working with a network requires a lot more foreplanning and coordination -- basically, everything you see on a network or streamer was probably initially planned a year or more ago and might have been canned almost that long. If they were on a network they'd gain a lot of audience and $$ but the show couldn't have the relatively fast turnaround time that to me is one of its most appealing characteristics. 3 months ago I replaced my previous 2018 Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo with my new Turbo S Sport Turismo, and just completed a 600 mile ski trip yesterday. I run snow tires for winter, PS4S tires the rest of the year. As much as I loved my previous car, and as fast as it was, I can only say "Wow" about the new one. Obviously there's no Autobahn in the US and no place to truly stretch the legs of this car. But for me, it's all about passing trucks and campers on a two-lane road. Passing is almost instantaneous. It will go from 60 mph to "highly illegal" in the blink of an eye. Even with snow tires, it's a great drive on a (dry) winding mountain road. Even on snow and ice, the traction, braking and handling are as good as anything I've driven in 50 years of skiing. I simply can't imagine a better car for the purpose. I even did a lap on an autocross course a week ago, snow tires and all. I took our AX chairman for the ride, and his eyes almost popped out of his head when I did a launch control start. Nobody there could believe that such a big, heavy beast could be that fast! Yup, this one's a keeper!

    I've been really considering this being the next step up from my s5 sb looking for a 2020 by next year , I don't know about a S model here but I do worry a bit about real long term maintenance buying new the price is great at the start but then add in all the knick nacks you'd somewhat expect in a near 100k base 4 but it's a tough one to gripe for now ..

    An amazingly capable product, everything you say is true.
    Back home in Oz, such a thing is utterly and shamefully wasted, but to me, still very desirable.
