They're the best out there, been downloading all their stuff for a couple of years now! This is an older horn section. Sergey, this great guitarist, has left to see more of his family. I was there from the beginning with Chicago but don't play them any more when we've got these guys. Serge, the vocalist records his parts from his studio in Kyiv. Love to him and his family there now.

His wife and kids are in Poland atm, he is in Kyiv in his own flat.

I have followed them from the beginning when Leonid used to post and share his video's from Russia. I'm a Chicago fan since 1969 and stayed true to them till 2016 when Jason Scheff (who was Peter Cetera 's replacer since 1985) left the band..Thank God I became FB Friends with Leonid Vorobye and saw this awesome band from Russia and I was so happy for them when other Chicago friends in the USA managed to bring Leonid Vorobye &Friends to the USA in 2017 or 2018 (before Covid) and they toured the USA and have lots of fans there right now .real Chicago fans but now loving Leonid & Friends better than the real band....so do I now...

Your statement is correct about Serge, the lead singer and rhythm guitar player here who is Ukrainian, and is in Kyiv. However, he no longer performs with the band, and is not providing new vocal contributions.
Sergei, the lead guitar player in this performance, is Russian. He left the band to pursue other musical projects. Their current guitar player, Konstantin, is also a superb musician, and at this moment is on his second tour with them in the United States.
It’s amazing how close they sound to the original! That being said, if you haven’t heard Chicago’s original of this song it’s a must! Especially the “Live at Tanglewood “ version from 1970!

The guitarist plays Terry Kath’s lead absolutely verbatim but Terry Kath created that lead which imo is one of the greatest ever!
This band of musicians and singers are absolutely every bit as talented as the original Chicago band n in many songs they covered even better!! I’ve seen both live and last nite in Kansas City I saw n heard for myself!! They’re phenomenal ❤❤❤❤

They are amazing indeed, especially considering English is not their first language, and the lead singer had no accent. They had a very tight, well rehearsed sound. It is good to see classic rock staying alive in other countries.

Yeah, these guys are out of control. Probably the 50th time I've listened to their rendition of this, and all of the rest of their stuff, of course. Saw an interview the other day with the singer, he is holed up in Ukraine and the rest are still in Russia. Stay strong guys! 👊💪🤘

Props to Robert Lamm for writing this classic and to Terry Kath for composing the original guitar solo. I'm a 50 year fan of Chicago but if I want to watch a live performance of Chicago music it's now Leonid and Friends all the way.
IIRC, I heard a video or recording that had Chicago's original version in one channel and this version in the other channel, and they matched just about perfectly.

I always had a soft spot in my heart for Terry Kath's performance in the original Chicago song. Kath earned accolades from his peer musicians for his skill. These guys are an amazing duplicate, coming very close to the original.

This was the first song that I heard when my friend turned me on to this band. I have been a huge fan ever since. This song was spot on! Every note, every lick, amazing!

My wife an I discovered Leonid and Friends about 5 months ago randomly on CZcams, I googled them and found they would be in Annapolis in June. We bought tickets that first night we discovered them, and saw them last Saturday. So good!!
Saw them live in Washington, DC at the end of 2019. They did this and other Chicago standards. Absolutely fantastic. Best live show I ever saw in 60 years.

I found them a few years ago and they are amazing! Leonid is the bass player on this and is the creative genius and founder of the group.

Sergey's vocals are perfection. Serge's guitar cover of Terry Kath's original guitar work is flawless. Igor's percussion is next level stuff. And the man behind this musical magic, Leonid, is nothing less than a genius.
Best band of the decade
I have always been a fan of Chicago. As I was a teen in the 80s I was more familiar with their style of the Peter Cetera era. It was only later I developed an appreciation for their older material. I love both. My wife, and I have seen Chicago twice, both times long after Cetera had left. The last time we saw them we saw Cetera in concert the following year.
When I discovered Leonid and Friends I was blown away. I knew I had to see them. I had plans to then Covid hit. My wife and I finally saw them last year. I knew we were going to be blown away. She loves Chicago more than me, but she had doubts. To put it bluntly they are just as good as the original. They are incredible. There is no other way to put it. Serge, who does the Cetera vocals is better than the current member of Chicago who does that part. Their harmonies are amazing. If you are a fan of Chicago you must see Leonid and Friends.

I’m so glad you stumbled on to these guys, like I said before - they are top notch! All of their stuff is fantastic, but my fave is still “I’m A Man”. They also do a killer cover of “Vehicle” by Ides of March!
Even Jim Peterik, who wrote/sang "Vehicle" and played the solo, has complimented L&F on their version of the song. This coming from a guy who probably buys a yacht every year off his songwriting royalties alone (not just "Vehicle", but writer/co-writer for most Survivor and .38 Special hits).
My new favorite is Leonid's performance of Steely Dan's My Old School.

Great tribute band, the are spot on.
I'm hoping Serge is going to be alright, and after this mess is done that Leonid & Serge and the rest of the band can get back together. I learned about them a couple of years back and was just amazed. Right now they sound better than Chicago itself.

They're an amazing cover band. The best for me was Street Player by Chicago featuring Arturo Sandoval on trumpet. Just ridiculous. Other than that Call on Me is my favorite

Leonid and Friends are amazing musicians. They need to take a back seat to no one. Singer here, Serge, is stuck at his home in Kiev right now. The group just released a incredible vid rendition of Tower of Power's, So Very Hard to Go you have to hear. And one hearing just won't suffice.

Got to see them inAtlanta, USA, my wife and I had those tickets for well over a year but because of covid the show kept being rescheduled, the tickets were honered a year and a half later and the waite was well worth it, great show

This band is absolutely phenomenal and they sound as good live as they do on their studio recordings like this one. I think I commented on another one of your reactions that I saw them live in Massachusetts during their 2019 American tour. They are all genuinely nice people and I sincerely hope they are doing well during these turbulent times, especially the lead singer, Serge, because he is Ukrainian and is currently trapped in Kyiv.

Am I the only one convinced that Sergey was channeling Terry Kath's spirit on that guitar solo? I have heard many others attempt it, but none have come anywhere close to Sergey's note-for-note perfection and the feel of the original. The whole band is so slammin' it's ridiculous. Leonid, the bass player, transcribes all the parts- one of the greatest sets of ears on the planet! And Igor, just WOW. He's such a beast on the drums! And such a gentle, kind man. I have played gigs with Chicago's drummer Tris Imboden, and he was one of my favorite drummers to play with, but if I ever got a chance to play with Igor, I'm pretty sure that it'd be a supernatural experience for me! He's like an atomic clock with groove!!!
I found you tonight, and Leonid and Friends about 3 years ago and went to their concert in Clearwater Florida. They did not disappoint and were great in concert. I knew you wer cool from the first video of yours I saw. That drummer is insane!

This group is beyond amazing and they consistently knock their covers out of the park with tight instrumentation and powerful vocals. Better than the original Chicago, EWF and Tower of Power tracks IMHO. Just saw them in concert in Florida and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen!

I had a similar reaction to these guys years ago. They sound better than Chicago. Modern technology makes that happen. Watched every video I could find of these guys and vowed to go see them if they came within 300 miles of where I live. My buddy and I were all set to drive to their concert 295 miles away and COVID hit and the concert was cancelled. Last year they played at a great venue near where I live. We went and they didn't disappoint. They were excellent. I would go see them again. If you haven't already done so...Listen to their 50th anniversary tribute to the "Ides of March" as they cover 'Vehicle." Cheers.

They are not stuck in Russia. They toured America earlier in the year and are just completing their autumn tour over there at the moment. I too hope that they come to the UK.
Been sharing Leonid & Friends with my broadcaster friends since their very first CZcams video. They arrived in the USA yesterday for their spring tour. I’ll be seeing them perform June 18 in Illinois. My third time! They are AWESOME!❤️

Chicago played often at Whiskey a Go Go in LA in the late 60's before they hit it big.
Jimi was backstage at the Whiskey one night after a performance and walks up to Walt Parazaider (the saxophonist for Chicago) and he tells him “Walt, the horns are like one set of lungs, and your guitar player is better than me.”
As a result of that encounter, Jimi took Chicago on the road as a opening act and the rest is history.
