      I waited almost 2 years for my cruiser hybrid. In that time the Nissan X-trail e power came out so I bought and only waited 4 months for the top of the line Ti-L spec for almost same price as what the cruiser hybrid price is now.
      Love the X-trail and thanks Toyota for having so much demand as I sold the cruiser the day I picked it up for $9k profit so my top spec E power ended up costing me just over $50k
      FTR the X-trail is has returned 6.5l/100km predominately suburban driving over first 9000km so happy with that for a heavier and more feature packed car than the Toyota even if it is around 1-1.5l/100km more.

    This review might sound like an advert for the RAV4, but I've been driving my 2023 Hybrid for over a year now, and I can vouch for Olek's positive comments. The RAV4 is hard to beat as an all-'rounder. I particularly like its solidity and overall feeling of quality. Toyota got it right.

  • @alvis1448
    @alvis1448 Před 3 měsíci +11

    Feels like this review is very ‘pro’ Toyota where things that are not so great, are conveniently skimmed over. The interior looks so scratchy with ugly dials but yet it is promoted as doing the job… the doors don’t open anywhere near 90 degrees but that’s good… the suspension is generally quite soft but again promoted as planted and good to drive… the interior is so noisy with the engine kicking in, but again it is promoted as smooth… What about the noise?
    The most annoying thing is there is never any comparison to other competitors in its class… it’s all good, good, good but is it really that good compared to others? I don’t know because he didn’t tell me… there was no attempt to inform me? A bit of a let down this review in my opinion…

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  Před 3 měsíci +7

      If the characterisation you came away with was that the RAV4 does the job, we’re happy with that. The reason this car is appealing is just that: it does a convincing job in every area. Is it perfect? No. Should the doors open wider? Sure. Is the engine rowdy when being revved out? Yes it is. But then it handles and rides very well, sips fuel, retains its value, is cheap to maintain, looks decent, is well-trimmed as a Cruiser or Edge… not surprising it does the sales numbers that it does.

    Toyota Australia is cheating customers on map upgrades. I bought my RAV4 Cruiser Hybrid in 2021. My average annual mileage is around 10,000 km. Given the low mileage there is no great rush on my part to do the annual service which I normally do within a month from each anniversary date. During the service I have the free map upgrade (customers are entitled for 3 map upgrades free). However on my 3rd anniversary service, Toyota refused to give me the 3rd free map upgrade. After a couple of lengthy discussions with Toyota Customer Service I was told that I am not entitled for the 3rd free map upgrade as I have gone pass the 3rd anniversary date by a few weeks. This is gross cheating. Shame on Toyota Australia.

    In this class there really isn't anything that will touch the Rav4's combination of fuel efficiency, power, features, practicality, reliability, resale value, ownership cost and dealer network support. It's just a truly all-round great product with nothing about it that can be considered a deal-breaker. The Honda CR-V Hybrid probably comes closest but is much more expensive than the Cruiser while also missing a few key features. The Rav4 will also beat it handily in fuel efficiency, resale value and dealer network. Nothing else even comes close.

    e-CVT's are NOTHING LIKE the belt-and-pulley CVT's. The RAV4 uses a planetary gear system combined with an electric motor to control the gear ratios. There is zero pulley slip. But the RAV-4 hybrid is still the best seller in it's category in Oz, by a big margin. Honda is expensive to service and also needs servicing every 10k km, RAV-4 is every 15k km.
      I agree, the RAV-4 is not fancy; but it beats every car in the category in terms of functionality and low running costs.

      The CR-V is a really decent vehicle, but it’s also $4000 more expensive to buy and as Richard pointed out, less convenient to maintain if you do bigger miles.

      Disagree, monthly sales also support this; in this category Subaru is not in the top 5.

      @@Richard-sl8we Really.. your a joke you never have looked at the forester : interior, space, safety etc

      @@holidayusa098 Yes, looked at a Forester; engine and gearbox are not great, gutless. That's why I'm still a fan of diesel, Sportage has over 400 Nm of torque and gets 5.5 litres per 100km on the freeway on a long run. It also has an excellent 8-speed TC gearbox.

      @@holidayusa098Yes, Forester is a decent car..Interior comfort and safety are good. But its very underpowered, also the mpgs and resale values are better for Rav4, and its power train is not as reliable as Rav4, also I heard the maintenance costs are slightly high for Subaru.
