  • Today, 8 May, is the 26th death anniversary of the late Taiwanese singer, and my most respected idol, Teresa Teng (1953 - 1995). She may have been gone for 26 years, but her songs are still very much alive in the Chinese and Japanese communities around the world today.
This piece here, 但願人長久 (Wishing We Last Forever), is from Teng’s 1983 Mandarin Chinese album, 淡淡幽情 (Dan Dan You Qing). The album contains twelve songs, which use poems from the Tang and Song Dynasties as lyrics. This highly acclaimed album is still regarded by many of her fans as her best.
但願人長久 (Wishing We Last Forever) is the second track of the album. The lyrics is a poem called 水調歌頭 (Water Song), written by famous poet of the Song Dynasty, 蘇東坡 (Su Dong Bo) (1037 - 1101).
