LUKE 5:33-39 - The Parable of the Garment and the Wineskins - 2BeLikeChrist
John's disciples came to Jesus and asked Him why His disciples didn't fast like the Pharisees. Jesus used illustrations about a wedding feast, sewing a garment, and making wine to answer their question.

The final interpretation is perfect. I remember not sleeping to get a deep explaination of these verses and i came up with something complex. But hearing that second interpretation of yours just blown my mind away, it's so much simple 😂 !

I agree with your 2nd interpretation, keeping it simple, and to never stop studying, there's something new revealed each time you read the Bible

I agree with you sir , anything spiritually connects to God, like fasting, praying, etc, some say its the way in communicating, that is why God says, why do fasting if I am already with them,
and others do not understand because they are too busy looking at the old ways, but not on the New, Just as God say in John 8:12 -59,
And on the last verse luke 5:39, "And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for they say, ‘The old is better.’ and thats the reality when your mind is full with the old teaching you have no room for the new ones, At the end you do not want to listen to it,
old covenant vs new covenant =)

“It wouldn’t make sense to do these things” is the level of understanding the Pharisees would have reached from what Jesus said in the parable. But we know that the parables that Jesus spoke do have greater meaning, that which the Pharisees could not understand because of their hatred toward Jesus and their love of their works-based, man-made traditions in Judaism (including much of their fasting, and how they fasted which was not pleasing to God).
Jesus is the Gospel, and He is saying that the Gospel (new wine) is incompatible with Judaism (old wine). The new garment is incompatible with the old. The new wine is incompatible with the old wine skin. In verse 39, Jesus is telling the Pharisees that they will prefer the old wine, and in doing so they will reject the Messiah.

After 37 years I have found this is why there had to be a New Test for the old test does not agree with new

Question, were the scribes and pharisees John's disciples? Just need clarification because please listen to what you said at 15:52-15:55. I strongly think that we should definitely rely on the Holy Spirit to open our understanding and lead and guide us to all truth. Thank you kindly🙂 P.S. I have been trying to figure these scriptures out as well. And I will continue to ask The Holy Spirit to help me fully understand this.

@@parrissneed6562 I do see it clearly in Matt, but in Luke it was worded differently. I am learning to really rely on the Holy Spirit to lead me and guide and not even so much the Bible. Thanks

Here’s a few flaws I see with your old interpretation. It is universally agreed that during the time of Matthew five they were still in the old covenant. Also, the old covenant was never a workspace salvation. Nowhere in the Bible, does God say that we could earn our salvation ever. Even Paul acknowledges the contrary in romans 4:3 when he points out that Abraham was justified by his faith, and not by his works.
