The “A Change of seasons” album was actually supposed to be part of a double album for the Images and words” album but the record label said no so they released it as an EP. This song, the concept and the lyrics, was created by Mike Portnoy (the drummer) grieving the loss of one of his parent.
It was actually the loss of his mother in a plane accident.
Great video, Sacrificed Sons and The Spirit Carries On are great songs from Dream Theater, both are absolutely perfect in my opinion! Would love to see a reaction to one of those.
A part of their song “Erotomania” is in this song. Check out the full version of that song on their Awake album. Also scene from a memory album- Fatal Tragedy is amazing!
Ugh...No it isn't. It's just a similar sounding organ part at a surface level. On the original demo version before Awake was written, they had a keyboard part that was completely different and followed the guitar mostly.
@@NaanProphet I was talking about the organ section, I should of been more specific.
@@Djcimofficial Yes, that's what he's talking about. The organ section is similar to Erotomania but it's not the same, nor is it really an intended reference.

Personally, I'd have gone with the "Live Scenes From New York" live version of this song to react to but still a great song pick to react to. I'm hoping the audio you were listening to wasn't doubled up like in this video. Don't know why either you had the wrong album cover on display either but the cover art is beautiful from the original EP. Very tragic song about Mike losing his mother, makes me choke up when listening to it.

A surprising choice! I love Magellan, but the whole Hundred Year Flood album was a slog for me - beautifully personal, but excessive in the Trent-isms I like least. I'd counter-propose Social Marginal or something from the first Explorer's Club.
@@ShaneCarey Wow) The mere reading of the word "trentisms" makes me so pleased 'cause someone still remembers the man and his style!! Strangely, Hundred Year Flood is my fav of all Magellan albums by far.. maybe because it was my introduction to Trent. First Explorer's Club is great but i regard it more as a one-piece opus that is better to listen in its entirety. So I'll counter-counter-propose "Magna Carta")) which i've already recommended on this channel
@@user-wq8ex5vc2i Seconded. That song made me cry tears of joy on first listen, in a mall parking lot after I found the cassette, by chance, at a Sam Goody that had mislabeled it as Manowar.

sounds like theres a delay between the actual song and what hes listening to. the snare was being hit twice 😅
What the hell is wrong with the sound in this one? It seems like there's two tracks playing and one is slightly delayed. It's awful to listen to haha
